Professor Nick Cutter

"Oh crap... cant we catch a break at all?" Connor groaned as they pulled into the parking area and he saw the crowd of reporters. They had definitely dealt with bigger throngs of media clamouring for a news story but still... it was the press. Connor would rather face a Mammoth again than deal with a single reporter after everything. "Think there's any chance we can get in without them mobbing us?"

"They seem to be blocking the entrance, unless there's a back way I think we're going to have to run through the gauntlet," Cutter groaned, he looked to Becker, "I don't suppose there is a back way to the museum is there?"

Becker looked at the crowd and sighed. "There is, but its for deliveries and for moving exhibits and what not. It's likely locked down right now. As tempting as it is to try and get in that way, if it is locked up... I'd rather try and push through the press and have a guaranteed way inside than to risk getting trapped outside and have nowhere to go."

"Yeah, it's gonna suck but probably best to just face the gauntlet and try and get inside as fast as we can" Connor said with a nod as he grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder.

"I guess we should get this over with," Cutter groaned as he began to grab his own bag and took a deep breath as he prepared to get out of the car, he wasn't looking forward to this at all.

"I'll do my best to keep them off ya" Becker said as he took out his own specialty bag from its spot under the truck seat. In it he put his weapons and packed everything up and slung it over his shoulder. There was no was he was going in to face an anomaly and possible creature incursion unarmed. But at the same time, the last thing he wanted was anything to happen accidentally because someone in the press got stupid. So this was the best compromise he and Lester had been able to come up with. "Alright, let's go. Stay as close to me as you can" he said as he got out of the Truck and motioned for Cutter and Connor to follow as he started towards the entrance to the museum.

Cutter tried to stay as close to Becker as he could, trying to shield his face from the crowd of press and it wasn't long at all before someone noticed who they were and several cameras went flashing off in their direction.

"Professor Cutter, do you have any comment on the recent revelations that you were responsible for your wife's disappearance!" a reporter yelled out.

Cutter paled considerably, "shit," he groaned under his breath.

Becker did his best to keep the press back as he pushed through, trying to get them to the front doors. "No comment" he said as he nudged back a couple of the reported trying to get closer.

"And what about the claim that Connot Temple was also involved in Helen Cutter's disappearance in order to cover up his and Nick Cutter's scandalous affair?"

Connor felt like he was going to be sick and just put his head down and tried to follow on Becker and Cutter's heels.

"Come on, just keep moving" Becker said to them both as he tried to clear a path for them.

Cutter didn’t say anything as they made their way through the crowd, the front door to the museum seemed like it was going to take forever to get to and the press weren’t giving up, pressing in as close to Connor and Cutter, microphones being shoved in their direction.

“Is it true that the university is going to revoke your Professorship and benefits, Professor Cutter?” the questions didn’t seem to stop, “did you promise Connor a place at the university if he slept with you?”

Connor put his arm around Cutter as they kept trying to push forward and trying to ignore the barrage of questions.

"What do you have to say about the university's decision to suspend you from the program because of your relationship with Professor Cutter?"

Connor just shoved passed the report and kept his eyes fixed on Becker as they went.

Cutter trembled, leaning against Connor as they tried to get to the entrance, the questions kept coming but eventually they all started to blur into one and Cutter wasn’t even aware of what was being shouted at them.

And then as they got closer to the front, “do you have any comment on the conspiracy and treason charges that you and Connor are facing,”

“No comment,” Cutter managed to get out.

Connor pushed on trying to ignore the shouts and the flashing lights. It wasn't until they were just to the doors that he finally almost broke and yelled back at the press.

"Connor Temple, if it's not true that you worked with Professor Cutter in Helen Cutter's disappearance, then it must be true about the treason charges and the three of you were working together. What do you have to say to those accusations?"

Connor stopped and for a moment nearly shouted back. But a hand on his shoulder from Becker snapped him out of it and just ducked his head and pushed on.

They were nearly there. He could do this.

Cutter was trembling, it felt like he couldn't breathe as they kept pushing through the press, all of those questions that were being thrown at him.

"Professor Cutter is it true you cheated on your wife to have an affair with another of your students, Stephen Hart? That you were involved in her disappearance so

Cutter wanted nothing more than to stop and yell back at the press to leave them alone, that he and Connor had done nothing wrong but he knew that if he did that, he would cause more damage so he kept his head down and said nothing.

At last they reached the door and the press seemed to surge and push in tighter in one last attempt to get their questions in. Becker wrangled the door open and all but tried to shove Cutter and Connor in to get them away from the press. Just as he did one question rang out, cutting through the others because of the name attached to it.

"Captain Becker, is it true that your last mission ended with four of the men under your command dead because of a rash decision you made as leader? What do you say to Christine Johnson's claims that the mission went sideways because you were selling government secrets to terrorist groups?"

Becker froze and glared at the reporter. "No... Comment..." he said coldly and then stepped through the door. Once inside he leaned back against the door and tried to compose himself.

Cutter all but collapsed to the floor, as he tried to regain control of his breathing, trying to tell himself that he was over but it had still shaken him. "Please tell me we can go through the back way when we're done here?" he trembled as he looked up at Becker. "I don't want to do that again,"

"Aye, we can go out the back way. Don't worry..." Becker tried to calm down and catch his breath and looked at Connor and Cutter. "You two ok?"

Connor looked up from where he had sank to the ground, back to the nearest wall. He gave a weak smile and a thumbs up- he really didn't trust himself to talk just then.

It took Cutter a while to catch his breath, he was still on the ground, he couldn't stop trembling, he could only nod at first and then slowly but surely he managed to squeak out an, "I'll be okay," he took another deep breath, "are you okay Becker, I'm sorry that the press got you,"

Becker put a hand on Connor's shoulder giving him a reassuring pat and then went over and kelt in front of Cutter to make sure he was ok.

"Eh, I'll live...they're just doing what the press and media do, scramble for any scraps they can find." Becker tried to push a smile but inside he was fighting back the warring emotions of anger and guilt. The damned press.

Cutter nodded at that, he was more shaken up than he wanted to admit and he looked up at Becker, blinking back furious tears as he tried to compose himself. The last thing he wanted to do was break down crying.

“Sorry,” he said quietly, still not moving from the floor, “I … it shook me up more than I thought,” he admitted.

Connor stood up from where he had been seated and was soon kneeling beside Becker. He reached out to Cutter and pulled him close, wrapping his arms around him tightly.

"You're ok Nick... I got you" he said, gently rubbing Cutter's back. "You did good."

Cutter trembled as Connor wrapped his arms around him, he took several gulping breaths, the last thing he wanted to do was burst into tears in the British Museum but it was hard ... the incident with the press, just reminding him how much control Christine still had and how much she could still ruin their lives.

He closed his eyes, trying to control his breathing as Connor rubbed his back, "thank you," he said quietly as he leaned against Connor, opening his eyes again.

Connor nodded and kept the hug going for a bit. He glanced up at Becker and he gave Cutter a squeeze with one arm as he lifted the other and tried to brush away the stray tears that had started to form in his eyes as well. "We got through it Nick, we'll be ok." Connor sniffed and tried to smile as he pulled back and looked at Cutter. "Come on, we've got an anomaly to deal with."

Cutter took a deep breath as he tried to control his breathing, "okay," he said softly, "let's go see what we're dealing with here, it can't be any worse than what we just faced," he tried to joke but his voice cracked a little as he said it.

Connor gave Cutter another reassuring hug as he helped him to his feet. "We got this" he said, trying to ignore the commotion from outside as the press still lingered just outside, hoping they would come out again.

"Anomaly should be this way based on the report Lester gave us" Becker said as he grabbed his weapon out of his back and started leading them down one of the large corridors and farther into the museum.

Cutter was grateful for the help as Connor got him to his feet, he tried to ignore the press outside as they followed Becker down the corridor.

“I wonder what kind of anomaly would open in the British museum?” Cutter couldn’t help but wonder as they walked. “Do you think it will be past it future?”
