Professor Nick Cutter

It was Christmas morning and Cutter had gotten up early to put on the finishing touches to the tree, making sure all the presents were underneath and that Rex was content with his food over in the corner of the kitchen. Rex was chirping away happily as he ate.

Cutter put on some Christmas music, he was looking forward to celebrating his and Connor’s first Christmas together.

It had been several long days between getting rescued from Christine and Wilder's clutches, everything still ached from those punches that Wilder had subjected him to but he was just glad to be able to get away from them. Now he and Connor would be serving several months house arrest in Fandom starting from the New Years as part of their deal to avoid jail, he stared down at the monitor that was on his ankle. It didn't feel real, everything that they had endured but he got to be with Connor and they weren't in jail so at least that something. He numbly sat down on the couch in their flat once they had returned to Fandom, "it still feels like everything's a dream," he said softly, "I never thought I'd be back in Fandom ... especially under these circumstances," ( They were finally back in Fandom ) [the final part. It was a few hours later and everyone had been looked after by the medical staff and given their respective strong doses of pain medication, they were under strict instructions to not move from the med bay while they recovered from the worst of their injuries. Lester had stayed with them and the security team who were providing additional security in case Christine decided to mount another attack while they were still picking up the pieces. Right now everyone was sleeping off their sedatives so all Lester could do right then was sit by their bedsides and wait, he knew he had a long way to go to even make this right with them, he should never have let things get this far with Christine, he was a terrible leader. One morning, several weeks after there had been hiding at the safe house, Jenny had managed to get a hold of Lester one morning and had been able to talk to him for a few minutes. She came back looking very troubled, "I talked to James," she said softly, "we're going to have company, he says Christine's figured out a rough idea of the safe house," Cutter paled considerably at that and looked nervously at Connor. A few days after the party, Cutter was starting to get rather restless from being cooped up in the safe house for so long, so he was rather relieved when Becker and Danny assigned him and Connor to go and collect more firewood for the fire. "I'm actually rather glad we got this assignment," he admitted to Connor as they walked towards the shed, "I think I needed to get outside for a bit," he said. It had been a few days since they had made it to the safe house and they had more or less settled into a routine as much as it was possible to do so in the circumstances. Becker and Danny were recovering from their injuries but they were starting to feel better and they were starting to get out of bed some more and Sarah thought that since Becker and Danny were getting better that they could have a nice birthday celebration for Cutter and Connor since they hadn't really been able to do that before everything had happened. "So what do you think?" she asked as they sat at the table for dinner that night, "we have enough ingredients to make a couple of birthday cakes, I could make them tomorrow and we could finally celebrate the Professor and Connor's birthday?" Now that Becker was asleep, Cutter thought he had his best chance to try and make a break for the truck and head back to the ARC where he could turn himself in. He carefully let go of Becker’s hand and then he began to make his way out of the room and towards the door. He quietly snuck past Jenny and Sarah, who were getting more supplies for Danny and Becker to help look after them and then once he was sure they were well and truly distracted, he made a beeline for the door and then it wouldn’t be long before he got to the truck and he could make this right. After class both Cutter and Connor realised that they really needed to do a major clean up of the flat, not only was there still the mess from their sundaes on the floor and the couch but there was also sand everywhere as well as all of there ‘treasures’ that there younger selves had proudly put on display.

“I can’t believe how much mess we made,” Cutter remarked as he took in the evidence of the mess from the weekend.

By the time he and Connor made it back to fandom, it was nearly lunchtime and he and Connor were tired after everything that had happened. Cutter didn’t remember the last time they had actually eaten with everything that had been going on and cleaning out his office, so he decided to put everything that they had managed to grab between the two of them and order lunch.

Cutter decided to order Chinese food and when it had arrived he spread everything out on the table.

“I hope this okay, I went with a little bit of everything, I know we haven’t had much to eat with everything that’s happened,” he said softly.

Cutter wasn’t sure how long he and Connor had sat there on the bed, it hadn’t taken long at all before Cutter had started crying as well, clinging desperately to Connor. He was scared, the fact Christine had enough power to replace him as leader and revoke his and Connor’s security clearance … it really did feel like the walls were closing in on them and it wouldn’t be long before Christine had what she needed to arrest them for treason like she had wanted all along. He knew he had to put on a united front for Christine, to show that he did support Danny replacing him as leader but everything hurt and the last thing he felt like doing was moving right then, he just wanted to stay on the bed and cling to Connor and not do anything else.
