Lester had helped Connor to his office and they’d been left to have a rest on the cot that he had there, even though he was tired Cutter hadn’t been able to get much sleep.
He knew they should really get a move on, they weren’t going to have a lot of time to pack up his office once Christine found out that they’d already lost their security clearance but this was his office and he wanted to take as much time as he could to remember his office before they had to pack up what they could of it.
He lay awake in the cot, Connor sleeping beside him and it just felt weird to think that it was going to be the last time he would get to see his office for a while at least.

Connor wasnt sleeping the deepest or the best and it wasn't too long before he shifted and opened his eyes, looking up at Cutter. "Couldn't sleep?" he asked softly with a worried look at Cutter. |
Cutter ![]() |
"No," Cutter admitted as he gazed at Connor, "it ... it just feels weird that this isn't going to be my office anymore," he said softly, "that it's going to end like this," |
![]() | Connor shifted so he was on his side and looked at Cutter for a minute. "It'll probably be Danny who starts using it now that he's team leader" Connor said slowly. "I'm sure he'll keep it as much like it is as he can. Danny doesn't strike me as the type to really do the whole office thing, ya know?" Connor added, trying to sound a bit hopeful. |

Cutter gave a small smile at that, "no, he really doesn't," he said softly, "it's weird ... I never thought ... after everything changed and we were at the ARC and I found myself with an office here ... I didn't think I'd get so attached to it ... I mean, it's an office ..." his voice trailed off as he realised he wasn't quite sure what he was saying. |

Connor looked at Cutter with a soft smile. "I... I still don't remember there being anything before the ARC. I know.. it wasn't like that for you... Nick. I can't imagine what that must have been like. But the office was probably... in a way...something that became familiar while you were trying to adjust to something as big as that. And now it's the office that is changing for you. I can't imagine that's easy for you" he said softly as he reached out and put a hand over Cutters lightly. |

Cutter was grateful for Connor's hand in his, "this is the second office I've had to pack up in as many months," he said softly, "I just ... I mean I hadn't been to the university office in a couple of years not since I left for Fandom but this office ... " he sighed, "I guess it's become more like home for me in recent months than I realised, especially since I haven't been back to my actual house in London since everything happened," |
![]() | "I'm so so sorry Nick" Connor said softly. Slowly he shifted so his back was against the wall and he gently tugged on Cutter's hand so he'd lay back down beside him. "We'll start packing up what we can soon. Let's just rest a little longer... let's have one last good memory of the place before we do" he said with a sleepy smile. |

Cutter nodded, grateful that he wasn't doing this alone, "that does sound nice," he said softly, giving a small smile at Connor, "I mean we do still have a bit of time left," he considered. |

"We dont have to leave till tomorrow We have time still" Connor said softly. He hated how this was going, what he, but specially Cutter, were being forced to give up and sacrifice. It wasn't fair. But there wasn't much they could do about that other than try and cope and be there for each other. "You were here for me when I needed you" Connor said softly, thinking back to just less than two days ago and how Cutter didn't leave his side as he was recovering from the fungus infection. "Now I am here for you." |

Cutter leaned in closer to Connor, grateful that he had Connor with him during this time, even though he wished that things hadn't ended up like this and he hated that Connor got caught up with everything as well. "Thank you," he said softly as he began to drift off to sleep, "I'm glad I don't have to do this alone," A short time later Lester stopped by the office and peered in to see how Nick and Connor were and when he saw they were both asleep on the cot, no obvious signs that the office had even started to be packed up, he gave a small smile as he watched them for a bit and then he left them to keep sleeping. He didn't like how any of this had happened but the least he could do was let Nick and Connor have this moment together in the office before they had to leave. |
