MHA #13 - Friday Morning

Cutter had planned to go out and get some coffee for him and Connor before he started doing some more work on the anomaly prediction model, the only problem was there seemed to be a particularly stubborn piece of mistletoe that was following him around, literally pushing at him.

It only got worse as Cutter tried to leave the apartment but found that his path was blocked, he stared up at the mistletoe, “hey Connor,” he called, “I think we have a problem here,”

Cutter smiled as Connor leaned in and happily deepened the kiss, "well if the mistletoe will cooperate than I'll go and get us a couple of those holiday drinks at the Perk," he promised, "and then you can get your package, you'll have to show me what it is later,"

"Maybe this will placate the mistletoe enough for us to get out and come back?" Connor asked with a smirk. "Can always try to appease the pushy mistletoe when we get back?" he offered as he kissed Cutter again.

Cutter laughed as he leaned into the kiss, "mmm....more kisses does sound nice," he said, "I think that's definitely a plan, do you think we can try and make a break for it for us to do our respective errands?"

"I think we should be able to make a break for it. You can head off and get the coffee for us and I will grab the package and get that taken care of while you are gone" Connor said as he glanced at the mistletoe and then started to reach for the doorknob. "On the count of three we make a break for it. One....two.. three!" he yelled as he quickly opened the door.

At the three Cutter made a beeline for the door, he could feel the mistletoe try too push at him but he stumbled out into the hallway at the last minute, "I think we're in the clear," he said as he looked back at the door.

"For now at least- let's go get our stuff and get back" he said with a cautious glance to the door behind them.

Connor headed for the lift, and once they were on the ground floor he started towards the mail room to get his package.

"See you back upstairs. You be ok getting the coffees?" he asked.

Cutter nodded, "I'll be fine," he assured Connor, "see you shortly,"

And then he headed to the Perk to get the coffee, it didn't take him long at all to get the coffees and bring them back to the apartment, he knocked on the door hoping Connor was back as well.

Connor grinned when he heard the knock on the door and he looked over as he stood up from the box he had been unpacking.

"Nick You made it" he said when he opened the door and gave him a quick kiss.

Cutter happily returned the kiss, "two Peppermint Mochas successfully acquired," he said as he held up the carry tray with the coffees, "did you have any issues with getting your package upstairs?"

"Oh that sounds amazing!" Connor said his eyes going wide as he looked at the coffee. "And yeah no issues at all, even managed to get it set up while you were gone."

Connor smiled as he glanced over towards the living room. He couldn't wait to show Cutter what he had gotten.

Cutter curiously walked over to the living room to see what Connor set up and his eyes widened in surprise at the keyboard, "..." at first he couldn't say anything, he felt tears brim his eyes, "for me?" he said quietly as he looked over at Connor, he hadn't played the piano since everything had happened with Helen all those months ago.

"Aye, for you Nick" Connor said with a grin and a nod. "I know how much you loved playing. I know its no piano like what you had, but I figured this would be something good for you."

"I love it thank you Connor," Cutter said and he leaned over to give him a kiss, "its absolutely perfect, I haven't played the piano in so long," he tried not to think about what that would be like, he wanted to focus on Connor and Connor doing this for him.

Connor returned the quick kiss with a grin as he reached out and rubbed Cutter's shoulder. "I know it's been a while Nick. But I also know you loved the piano and I... I think it would be good for you." Connor reached out and gently took Cutter's hands in his. "I cant wait to hear you play when you are ready. And until then there are headphones that come with the keyboard that you can use" he said, hoping the bit of privacy would help make Cutter a little less embarrassed about trying to learn to play again.

Cutter leaned into that touch, "thank you Connor, this ... this means so much, I ... one day I will play for you again," he assured him "at least I'll have plenty of time to practice with the house arrest right?"

Connor smiled. "I had bought it originally for Christmas but I think it is something we can use now" he gave Cutter's hand a gentle squeeze. "And yes some day you will be able to play and I will sing and we can do it together" he said with a loving smile.

Cutter smiled shyly at that hand squeeze, "I love it, thank you Connor," he said as he gave Connor's hand a squeeze in return, "and I'm looking forward to being able to play and sing with you when I get there,"

"And in the mean time you can work at building up the strength in your hands and it will definitely give us something to do during lockdown to" Connor said softly. "In the meantime, I think I am ready to enjoy some of that coffee!"

Cutter smiled at that, "aye that it will, I'm looking forward to it," he agreed and then he reached over for the tray with the coffees and handed Connor's his peppermint mocha, "here we go, one peppermint mocha,"

"Thanks, and here's to an early Merry Christmas" he said as he toasted Cutter with his coffee cup.

Cutter smiled warmly as he raised his own coffee cup in a toast as well, "aye and here's to a fantastic rest of the holidays as well," he said.

"Might not be the Christmas we are used to but it will be ours. And I cant think of anything better" Connor said with a shy smile.

Cutter returned that shy smile, "it will be our special Christmas and no one will be able to take that from us," he said fondly, "as long as we're together that will be all matters,"
