Professor Nick Cutter

"Actually, as head of security I have the authorization to make the decision," Becker said with an annoyed sigh. "I also have the authority to arrest you for trespassing and interfering with government business and disobeying direct orders. So you can either go, or I can arrest you. What will it be?"

"Alright so, where do these cases and all need to go?" Danny asked as he grabbed one of the weapon totes and one of Connor's gear boxes. "Back in the truck I assume?" he asked, totally ignoring Becker and then thinly veiled threats.

Cutter glared at Danny, "that totally counts for grounds for being arrested right Becker?" he said tiredly to Becker, he really just wanted to go home and sleep, "besides he hasn't sighed the official secrets act, he can't touch those boxes,"

Oh look at how convenient it was for Cutter to remember the Official Secrets Act when he wanted to.

Connor just kinda stared at Danny, mouth open in shock. "Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable" he said looking over at Becker who seemed to be totally done with all of this.

"Last chance Quinn, or I'm going to arrest you. Leave now and forget about the anomalies."

"Oh I'd like to see you try," Danny smirked and he made a big show of carrying the box with the tech and weapons, "come on Soldier Boy I dare you, then let's see what your boss has to say about that?"

Cutter looked over at Becker, "I think you should arrest him now," he said, glaring back at Danny.

Connor was flaring daggers at Danny for touching his gear. "Were doing fine. Appreciate the help and all but this is outside your jurisdiction. By miles. Let us handle it!"

Sarah looked from Danny to Becker for a moment. "Hang on I'm sure we can find a way to sort this out... Maybe call Lester and let him know what is going on?"

Oh Sarah ... This was a new development for the team... Not by a longshot.

“Nice to see someone on the team has brains,” Danny nodded to Sarah, giving her one of his best smiles and Sarah blushed at that, “I’d listen to what she says, I’m sure your boss would rather not have to deal with the paperwork that comes from arresting a civilian on a top secret government mission,”

Cutter growled, “we didn’t ask you to be here in the first place, we were managing just fine til you showed up,” his hand went self consciously to the bandage that was on his arm.

"Look, just dont touch anything else and stay here. We'll sort this all out when Lester and Jenny get here" Becker said rubbing his head against the headache. "Just.... behave yourself Quinn. Can you at least do that?"

"Scouts Honour," Danny promised and then for good measure, dropped the box down and held up his hands to show that he wasn't going to touch it any more.

It wasn't long before Lester and Jenny turned up.

"DC Quinn, I'd say its a pleasure but then I'd be lying, I thought I made it very clear that you were to stay away,"

"Sorry Guv, couldn't help myself" Danny said with a small shrug. "Besides you ended up a man down so it was actually a good thing I showed up to lend a hand."

"Nick only got hurt because you showed up and got involved!" Connor snapped back. "If you hadn't distracted us and if you hadn't spooked the raptor, we would have been perfectly fine without you!?"

Lester looked at Cutter with concern, "are you alright?" he asked gently.

"I'm fine James," Cutter said softly, even though he was feeling really tired, "nothing a good night sleep will fix,"

Well not quite but Cutter was trying to tell himself that he was fine.

"You really need to stay away from this Danny," Jenny told him, "it won't end well if you keep on this path,"

"And what might that path be? The path that I've been on where I'm dealing with disappearing kids no one knows what happened to? The path where I'm called a bloody fool and a lunatic for talking about seeing strange lights?" he asked pointing to the anomaly. "The path where I question what it is I am doing on the force if I can't do something that actually makes a difference?" Danny shook his head grimly. "No sorry. I'm already on a path I don't like."

"And you've seen how dangerous how line of work is," Jenny pointed out, "Nick got injured and that was from a baby raptor, how do you think you'll fair if you ever had to face of against a T rex or something else as equally as dangerous, this isn't some fantastical adventure Danny, people can die from this ..." her voice softened as she thought back to Stephen, "they already have," her voice trembled slightly.

Danny started to argue but closed his mouth and just nodded giving Jenny a bit of a 'youre right' shrug.

"Anyways Sir," Becker said as he turned to Lester, taking his eyes off Danny. "The anomaly is secured and the creature has been sent back through. Area is safe and my men will stay and watch the anomaly until it closes."

"Thank you Captain," Lester nodded and then turned back to Danny, "so the question that remains is what do we do about you DC Quinn, I don't suppose we can convince you to forget about these anomalies, you can go back to your own life, before you make a choice you can't walk back from?"

He folded his arms as he stared at Danny pointedly.

Danny held up his hands in surrender. "Ok ok, Guv. I read ya loud and clear here. All of you. I'll walk away... from all this" he said giving a hand wave to everything.

Lester just raised an eyebrow, not for one moment believing that Danny meant what he was saying, "and it goes without saying that if our paths cross again, I won't hesitate to have you arrested," he said, "thank you for your help DC Quinn but leave this to the Professionals,"

Well he DID say he would walk away not that he would forget and not that he wouldn't come back so.....

"Aye. You know where to find me incase you change your minds" Danny said with a smirk as he headed to his motorbike. He grabbed his helmet and gave Sarah a wink before he put it on and sped off out of the hangar and disappearing down the road.

Sarah giggled at that wink, “awe I liked him, we didn’t have to dismiss him like that right? I mean he did help us out majorly back there,”

“Trust me Sarah, you don’t want this guy hanging around,” Cutter said weakly, glaring after Danny as he left.

"He's a stubborn bastard thats for sure" Connor said shaking his head before turning his attention back to Cutter. "Now you.... we need to get you back to the ARC and let the med team look at you and get you patched up right" he said slowly helping Cutter to his feet and pulling his good arm around his shoulders.

Cutter winced a little at the effort it took to get him to his feet and he leaned gratefully into Connor's shoulders, "but what about all the mess and the reports?" he added tiredly.

"We'll finish up the cleaning up here," Jenny told him gently, "you get that arm looked at okay?"

"And the reports can wait a day or two I suppose," Lester added, "just don't make it a habit of getting your arm nearly ripped off, you know I'm going to have to fill in an incident report about this, that's extra paperwork," but there was almost a fondness in his voice as he said it.

"Come on, I'll take the two of you back to the ARC" Becker said helping guide Cutter towards the truck. "The others can get back with Lester and my men. We need to take care of that arm properly sooner rather than later."

"Let them take care of things Nick," Connor said softly. "You worry about yourself for now." Connor helped get Cutter over to the truck and helped him into the passenger seat, figuring it would be a smoother ride up there for him.

"Okay," Cutter trembled, wincing a little at the throbbing in his arm as Connor guided him over to the truck and helped him in the passage seat, "thank you," he said softly, "can ... can you stay with me, when they look at my arm?" he asked Connor, not wanting to be alone with anything to do with a hospital right then.

Connor gave him a light somewhat awkward hug and then climbed into the back seat and sat behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Of course I will Nick" he said with a soft smile.

"We both can stay with you if you want" Becker said as he climbed in and started up the truck. "Whatever will make it easier for you" he added with a reassuring smile.

Cutter leaned into the touch gratefully, "thank you," he said tiredly to both Connor and Becker, "I would like that, if both of you could stay ... I don't ... I don't want to be alone," he said softly.
