The ARC - London

It had been another week since everything had happened with Danny and the house, Cutter and Connor had been working away at their anomaly prediction model, with Sarah continuing to get more and more research done. She was settling in well to the team, even though Becker seemed to be a little wary around her still.

“I never realised just how many myths and legends they’re actually were until we began to put the anomaly prediction model together,” Cutter remarked as they sat in the break room, going over the latest mythology books that Sarah had checked out of the library.

Well he DID say he would walk away not that he would forget and not that he wouldn't come back so.....

"Aye. You know where to find me incase you change your minds" Danny said with a smirk as he headed to his motorbike. He grabbed his helmet and gave Sarah a wink before he put it on and sped off out of the hangar and disappearing down the road.

Sarah giggled at that wink, “awe I liked him, we didn’t have to dismiss him like that right? I mean he did help us out majorly back there,”

“Trust me Sarah, you don’t want this guy hanging around,” Cutter said weakly, glaring after Danny as he left.

"He's a stubborn bastard thats for sure" Connor said shaking his head before turning his attention back to Cutter. "Now you.... we need to get you back to the ARC and let the med team look at you and get you patched up right" he said slowly helping Cutter to his feet and pulling his good arm around his shoulders.

Cutter winced a little at the effort it took to get him to his feet and he leaned gratefully into Connor's shoulders, "but what about all the mess and the reports?" he added tiredly.

"We'll finish up the cleaning up here," Jenny told him gently, "you get that arm looked at okay?"

"And the reports can wait a day or two I suppose," Lester added, "just don't make it a habit of getting your arm nearly ripped off, you know I'm going to have to fill in an incident report about this, that's extra paperwork," but there was almost a fondness in his voice as he said it.

"Come on, I'll take the two of you back to the ARC" Becker said helping guide Cutter towards the truck. "The others can get back with Lester and my men. We need to take care of that arm properly sooner rather than later."

"Let them take care of things Nick," Connor said softly. "You worry about yourself for now." Connor helped get Cutter over to the truck and helped him into the passenger seat, figuring it would be a smoother ride up there for him.

"Okay," Cutter trembled, wincing a little at the throbbing in his arm as Connor guided him over to the truck and helped him in the passage seat, "thank you," he said softly, "can ... can you stay with me, when they look at my arm?" he asked Connor, not wanting to be alone with anything to do with a hospital right then.

Connor gave him a light somewhat awkward hug and then climbed into the back seat and sat behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Of course I will Nick" he said with a soft smile.

"We both can stay with you if you want" Becker said as he climbed in and started up the truck. "Whatever will make it easier for you" he added with a reassuring smile.

Cutter leaned into the touch gratefully, "thank you," he said tiredly to both Connor and Becker, "I would like that, if both of you could stay ... I don't ... I don't want to be alone," he said softly.

"Of course. I got nothign else to do. trip to the ARC med center will be a good way to kill some time" Becker said with a small grin,trying to cheer Cutter up a little. And it was of course a lie, he had several reports to do and had to figure out what the hell they were going to do about Quinn, but... ya know, details. He gave Cutter a reassuring smile as he drove them back to the safety of the ARC.

Cutter gave a small smile at that and leaned back against the seat, trying to get comfortable for the rest of the drive back to the ARC.

A couple of hours later, Cutter had had his wounds cleaned, stitched and rebandaged and he was back at his office with Connor. "Well that was definitely an interesting field assignment," he sighed as he tried to get comfortable on the couch.

"Yeah you can say that again" Connor said with a small laugh. He put a pillow behind Cutter, helping him get as comfortable as he could. "But we made it through, we're still in one piece... mostly," he said with a playful laugh. "So I think all in all it was a success. Now we rest. Is there anything I can get for you?"

"Well my arm's definitely seen better days but it could have been worse," Cutter said with a tired smile, "maybe a bottle of water? I think there should be some in the mini fridge," he nodded towards the fridge in his office.

"Water. Check!" Connor said as he grabbed a couple bottles from the fridge and cracked one open then handed it over to Cutter. He pulled the phone out of his pocket and sat down gingerly beside Cutter so he didn't jostle him and took care not to accidentally bump his arm. "So, food. Typical or do you want something different this time?"

“Thank you,” Cutter said gratefully as he took the bottle of water and then considered their options, “I think after today, going for something familiar sounds really good, I think Chinese sounds pretty good right now,”

"Alright Chinese it is" Connor said as he started punching in the order as he leaned back on the couch.

"There' should be here in no time" he said with a small grin when he finished. "And while we wait..." he leaned over to the table by the couch and grabbed the bottle of pills sitting there. "I think it's time you had some more pain med... it's been long enough and you don't want to get behind on it that's for sure."

"Thank you," Cutter said tiredly as he leaned against the pillow, trying to get comfortable and he grimaced a little at the idea of taking more pills, "I'd really hoped I had taken the last of them after we left the hospital," he said softly, being injured again just reminded him of what had happened before.

"I know Nick. But you don't want to start hurting more than you already are. you'll heal faster if you aren't wearing yourself out with pain you could be somewhat avoiding" Connor reminded him gently as he took out the pills and set them on the table in front of Cutter. He didn't make him take them but wanted them to be there and ready whenever he decided he wanted them."Becker said he would come by later to see how you were doing. Maybe he will join us for some food if there are any leftovers by then."

Cutter nodded, "I know ... it's just hard, thinking back to that time, I suppose its just one more thing to talk about with Dr. Taylor at our next session," he said softly as he reached over to pick up the pills and he swallowed them with some water, "that would be nice for Becker to join us, I just feel bad for leaving him with so much work, a lot of that is work I normally do," he added.

"It's going to be an adjustment. We're both still getting used to everything, getting back into the field, figuring out this new normal" Connor said as he put a hand over Cutter's and gave it a gentle squeeze. "But I know Becker and the others are here for us and we can rely on them. We'll figure it all out together."

Cutter nodded, "I'm glad that we've got each other for support as well," he said softly, smiling softly at the hand squeeze, "I wouldn't want to be doing this alone," he admitted.

"Wouldnt let you do it alone either Nick" Connor said with a small smile. "We've gotta help each other through these things. You don't have to worry. No dinosaur, no creature, and no annoying DC is going to make me walk away." He had already made the mistake once and he wasn't going to make it again!

Cutter smiled and held Connor's hand tightly, "and I'm not walking away either," he promised, not wanting to make the same mistake either as he had earlier, they were stronger together and he was much better with Connor being by his side, "hopefully that's the last we see of DC Quinn and we don't have to put up with him again,"

"That would be nice... one less thing to have to keep track of" Connor said with a sigh as he leaned back against the couch and moved closer and let Cutter lean closer if he wanted. "I think we definitely earned a few Quinn-free days after everything!"

Cutter gratefully leaned in closer, "I think we have to, I think we've deserved a break ... maybe we should just take it easy til we return to Fandom and have a rest from the Anomaly Prediction Model, I can have Sarah continue working on the research for the next time we're back?"

"Sounds like a brilliant plan," Connor said with a nod. "A couple days break won't be the end of the world, and we will be better for it on the other side to get some time to recoup a bit." He wrapped an arm around Cutter and smiled, it was nice to be able to spend time, just relaxing together, after everything that has been going on.
