Cutter had not left his apartment since he had got back from his workshops on Thursday, he hd mostly stayed put on the couch, not eating anything and barely sleeping.

Until he had received a Chinese food delivery yesterday that he knew he hadn’t ordered but it had already been paid for and since it was from the place that he and Connor had liked to order from before everything happened … he knew it had to have been from Connor.

He stared at his phone, debating for several moments before he finally sent a text message to Connor thank you for the food… he hesitated I … it helped a lot, thank you he added, he had said thank you already but it was the only thing he could think of to say.

Connor hadn't expected a text or anything really from Cutter. So, it took him a bit to decide whether to text back.

Good. Don't let it go to waste was the eventual reply he got.

Good... havent see ya around... figured you'd need something by now.

Had Connor meant that to seem a bit condescending? No he hadn't but he also wasn't in a place to really be thinking much about how Cutter might be interpreting the texts to be honest...

Connor's hand was really bothering him and the pain was just serving as a constant reminder of Cutter pushing him away and the hurt and anger he felt.

Getting out for something at least, its a good thing, Connor typed back after a moment.

Had they been in a better place and had Connor not been wincing with every throb of his injured hand, he might have clarified that he meant it was good for both of them to be getting out a bit. But he didn't, because the last thing he wanted to do right then was admit he had reinjured his hand, so the text was just left there for Cutter to interpret how he wanted.

Better than the alternative Connor texted back, again really needing to clarify and expand on that. But he didn't and in hindsight that was probably not the best response given the tone and the way the conversation was going so far.

But being busy WAS better than moping and stewing... Connor just wasn't at all able to see how this could be taken by Cutter.

Being productive is good

Ok, that one hurt. Connor stared at the text, reading it several times. So, did Cutter think he was wasting time talking to him? He really did mean what he said when he pushed him away, didn't he?

Yeah would be a shame to waste time like that. Im sure you have better things to spend your time on.

Same. No use bothering each other right? since this was going oh so well. Connor sighed as he hit 'send' and stared at the phone, feeling the knot in his stomach grow.

Consider it done Connor texted back and then tossed the phone onto the couch where he was sitting and sighed.

Rubbing his hands through his hair Connor sighed as he grabbed the beer from the table in front of him and took a long slow drink.

That could have gone a lot better.... though he knew he was just setting himself up for the dissapointment by expecting Cutter to react any other way.
