MHA #16 - Saturday Morning
Cutter had not left his apartment since he had got back from his workshops on Thursday, he hd mostly stayed put on the couch, not eating anything and barely sleeping.
Until he had received a Chinese food delivery yesterday that he knew he hadn’t ordered but it had already been paid for and since it was from the place that he and Connor had liked to order from before everything happened … he knew it had to have been from Connor.
He stared at his phone, debating for several moments before he finally sent a text message to Connor thank you for the food… he hesitated I … it helped a lot, thank you he added, he had said thank you already but it was the only thing he could think of to say.

Good. Don't let it go to waste was the eventual reply he got.

He bit his lip as he thought about what to say and then replied I won't, I've been eating it admittedly it was actually the only thing he had in his fridge right now so he didn't have much choice in eating it if he wanted to eat something and not leave his apartment.

Had Connor meant that to seem a bit condescending? No he hadn't but he also wasn't in a place to really be thinking much about how Cutter might be interpreting the texts to be honest...
Connor's hand was really bothering him and the pain was just serving as a constant reminder of Cutter pushing him away and the hurt and anger he felt.

I had workshops Thursday was the reply, to say that he had in fact left the apartment for something other than going to the bar I haven't really been hungry
He wasn't sure why he typed that last part, if Connor didn't seem that interested that he was eating the food and he wasn't sure why he was still replying when it was clear that Connor wasn't interested in how he was feeling.

Had they been in a better place and had Connor not been wincing with every throb of his injured hand, he might have clarified that he meant it was good for both of them to be getting out a bit. But he didn't, because the last thing he wanted to do right then was admit he had reinjured his hand, so the text was just left there for Cutter to interpret how he wanted.

I guess so he sent back I guess being busy is a good thing these days and he would definitely be feeling bad about this later.

But being busy WAS better than moping and stewing... Connor just wasn't at all able to see how this could be taken by Cutter.
Being productive is good

Apparently was the reply and Cutter was tempted to just leave it at that but then added otherwise I'd be just wasting time wouldn't I?
Yeah that could definitely be interpreted in a few ways and Cutter was definitely feeling guilty about that but he was starting to feel angry.

Yeah would be a shame to waste time like that. Im sure you have better things to spend your time on.

Rubbing his hands through his hair Connor sighed as he grabbed the beer from the table in front of him and took a long slow drink.
That could have gone a lot better.... though he knew he was just setting himself up for the dissapointment by expecting Cutter to react any other way.
