Cutter and Connor had gone back to the ARC to celebrate their birthdays after being delayed over the weekend and now they were waiting in the break room of the ARC since that was one of the few places they were allowed to wait as they waited for the team, they had been talking to Lester about revelations about what had happened to Cutter in Connor's timeline and trying to come up with some solutions.
Meanwhile Danny was finishing up his shift at the ARC, he had been expecting an attack from Christine, she had been too quiet lately and he had been on edge that she was going to try something.
Becker ![]() |
"Full sweep has been done Sir. Everything is secure- including the fire doors," Becker said with the faintest of smirks as he reported in to Danny for the afternoon security check-in. "There's been no anomaly activity or creature reports either." |
Danny ![]() |
Danny smirked at that, "well I suppose that should be something, even though I don't like the idea of waiting for something to happen," he paused, "any news on the ..." he looked around quickly and then lowered his voice to Becker, "Christine situation? Has she made any kind of movement near the ARC? I don't like that it's this quiet," |
![]() | "From what our surveillance outside the ARC and Christine's headquarters, all activity seems to be relegated to her facility," Becker said, stepping a little closer and lowering his voice as well. "There have been a lot of people coming and going over there and it looks like she hasn't left the facility in a few days herself." |
Danny ![]() |
"Well that doesn't sound suspicious at all," Danny remarked, "I wonder what she's hiding in that Headquarters of hers, she can't be up to anything good ..." he was quiet for a moment, "I wonder if their fire doors need checking out?" he said with a knowing smirk at Becker. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker had to fight to keep the smirk off his face as he gave a small nod to Danny. "Sir, in my official capacity as head of security for the team, I must advise against poking at Christine too much." Officially. Unofficially... well Becker had a feeling Danny knew how he felt. |
Danny ![]() |
"Right so if we were do this in an unofficial capacity that would be okay then?" Danny smirked as he looked at Becker, "because I'm game if you are, I mean what's the worst thing that could happen?" Aside from the whole getting caught and potentially getting arrested for breaking and entering? |
![]() | You were already proving to be a bad influence Danny! Becker grinned and nodded. "I mean, were not on duty all the time. Right? Lester has no control when were off duty so how would he know what we are up to?" |
Danny ![]() |
Danny definitely exceeded at being a bad influence, sorry Becker you had no chance when Danny came onboard. "Right and what Guv' doesn't know, won't hurt him," Danny returned the grin, "I'm off duty this evening, if that works for you?" |
Becker ![]() |
"My last report in is at 5 and my men are handling the overnight patrols," Becker said with a nod. "Stakeout and maybe a little investigating of our own?" he added with a grin. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny grinned, "now you're talking Cap'n, what do you fancy for our first stakeout dinner? Chinese, Thai or perhaps burgers? My treat," he added, this was a very important mission after all, they couldn't do it on an empty stomach. |
![]() | Becker gave a small laugh at that. "Well, it has been a while since I've had some good Thai food... since you're buying and all. You bring the food I'll bring the gear?" If Lester thought Cutter had been a handful when he first joined the team, that was going to look like a walk in the park compared to Becker and Danny feeding off of each other! |
Danny ![]() |
"I like the way you think Cap'n," Danny grinned at that, "alright, Thai food it is, I know a place that serves the best pad Thai, you'll thank me later," Somewhere Lester was definitely feeling the urge to facepalm and he had no idea why. |
Becker ![]() |
So much facpalming- Sorry Lester. "Right well it's just about 4 o'clock, I'll take this final patrol, report to Lester then meet up with you in the parking garage and we can head out?" |
Danny ![]() |
""Aye, Aye Cap'n," Danny said with a grin as he gave a salute, "I'll finish up here with the last of the reports and then I'll meet you at the parking garage for our first stakeout," |
![]() | Becker rolled his eyes slightly at that but grinned as he headed on his way to get that final patrol and check-in done. It had been a quiet night, so he was shopping everything would go smoothly because he was actually kinda looking forward to a good old fashioned stakeout. It had been a while since he had done something like that. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny returned the grin as he headed to the break room to finish his reports, he knew he technically had an office now but he didn't feel right using it. The office was still Cutter's and now that he was in charge of the team he didn't want to cause that much disruption and besides he much preferred to work in open space rather than in office. He grabbed a soda from the fridge and sat down at the table to finish off his reports, keeping an eye on the clock as he did so that he knew when it would be time to meet Becker in the parking garage. |
Becker ![]() |
Patrol was thankfully uneventful so the final check in with Lester before they both left for the night was short and sweet. With everything taken care of and now officially off the clock, Becker headed to the parking garage and waited by his truck. At his feet was a small duffel bag.and as he waited for Danny to show up, Becker was glad the area was mostly cleared out already. |
Danny ![]() |
Becker wasn't kept waiting long, a few minutes later and Danny was ready to go, "ready for our first stakeout Cap'n?" he grinned as approached Becker waiting by his truck. |
![]() | "Definitely!" Becker returned with a grin. "Got some basic gear" he said with a nod toward the small duffel. " Binoculars, torches, ya know the essential stuff." Becker looked at Danny and grinned. " And Lester is off site. Watched him drive off a few minutes ago. Do we should have no trouble getting away without being noticed." Becker... You were ignoring that litte voice in your head again...you knew what happened when you did that! |
Danny ![]() |
That was why Danny didn't have a little voice in his head, otherwise he would never do half the things he did. "I like the way you think," Danny returned the grin, "I'll give you directions to the Thai food place, it will be the best Thai food you'll ever have," he promised. |
Becker ![]() |
"Sounds good- looking forward to seeing how good this place really is" Becker smirked as he put the bag in the back and then climbed into the truck and got them on their way. And as he followed Danny's directions to the Thai place, a thought crossed Becker's mind. He had never in a million years thought he would have found a team like the ARC to connect with...and he would have never believed it if someone had told him at their first meeting that he and Danny would be willing going on a stakeout together. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny eventually grew on people, when he wasn't busy breaking into their places or arresting them. He grinned as he settled into the truck, giving his instructions as he did, the place wasn't too far from the ARC as it turned out, "ah here it is, the moment you've been waiting for, what would you like me to get for you?" he grinned at Becker. |
![]() | Becker considered the options for a minute and then grinned. "Let's go with some beef Pad Thai and spring rolls. Anything else you want, I leave to your expert discretion," Becker said as he let Danny put in the rest of the order. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny grinned, "I'll be right back," he promised and he left to order the food. Half an hour later he was back with several plastic bags of food and got back into the truck, "okay so I got you the beef Pad Thai and spring rolls, I got a chicken Pad Thai and a Thai Green Curry and to share I got us some crab fried rice and money bags," he said, "and I got us some cola to drink as well, perfect food for a stakeout," |
Becker ![]() |
"Won't get any complaints from me. It all sounds... and smells amazing!" Becker said, the smell of the food suddenly making him keenly aware of the fact that with everything that had been going on at the ARC, he had once again skipped lunch that day. "So, I think I know a good spot for us to set up- by the main North entrance to Chrsitine's little lair. Should give us good cover but also keep us close enough to the main entrance to see if Christine or anyone else of note comes or goes." |
Danny ![]() |
“Sounds great,” Danny grinned, giving him a thumbs up, “and if things seem suspicious enough, we can always go over and see if their fire doors are working,” he added. |
![]() | Becker nodded and continued driving them up to the access road that bordered the property where Christine's headquarters were. There was plenty of trees an such lining the road and with darkness falling it would provide good cover for them to have their stakeout. "Alright, so gear is in the back but I think we need to have these on hand at least to start" he said, reaching back and grabbing the binoculars. He handed one to Danny and put the other in the dashboard in front of himself. "And now food?" he asked a grin on his face. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny grinned as he took the binoculars and put them down so he could grab the containers of food, "alright best Thai food you'll ever have coming right up, so here's your beef Pad Thai and spring rolls," he handed the dishes to Becker, "and the shared crab fried rice and money bags," he also handed Becker his soft drink and utensils, "and here's my Chicken Pad Thai and Thai Green Curry," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker's stomach gave a small growl at the mention of the food and grinned. "Thanks" he said as he dug in, just enjoying the first few bites in silence. Then he turned and looked at Danny. "Ok I was prepared to accept you were exaggerating a bit, but no... this really is the best Tahi food I have ever had I think!" He would have definitely gone on more stakeouts willingly back in the early days if they had had this food instead of doughnuts and coffee every single time. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny grinned as he started on his curry, "told ya, Cap'n, there is no exaggeration when it comes to Thai food, I found this place back when I was a beat cop, I know the owners quite well, they always give extra servings of food when I come in and order," |
![]() | "Well, then I guess we know who is going to be the designated stakeout food-getter" Becker said with a laugh. "I'm afraid the only connection I have is the guy who owns one of the gun ranges. Used to hit it up all the time during training. Got pretty well known over there for a while." |
Danny ![]() |
"Consider it done and if you ever find you go there when we don't do stakeouts, just say you know me. They'll take really good care of you." Danny said with a grin as he ate a few mouthfuls of food, "Well if I need to refresh my shooting skills, I'll know who to see, actually, should probably do that sooner or later, especially with all these creatures we're going to be up against," he added. |
Becker ![]() |
"Aye, and better brush up on your tranq gun use too. Cutter always emphasizes not killing them unless absolutely necessary, so the tranq guns usually got more use than the actual ones on their end. The muscle is what my team was brought on for." becker smirked as he chewed another couple of bites of the tasty food. "Though it is tempting to try and just tranq Christine and then dump her into the next anomaly that opens up..." |
Danny ![]() |
"Tranq gun training, gotcha, gotta admit that one's been a while so will definitely have to brush up on those skills," Danny said and then smirked at that last bit, "yes we would save a whole lot of time and drama if we could strand Christine in the nearest anomaly, even though I would feel sorry for those creatures that would have to deal with her after," |
![]() | "Yeah" Becker said with a snicker. "Wouldnt be fair for the poor raptor or T-rex to get an upset stomach when they eat her." Becker laughed and after taking a few more bites of the food grabbed the soda and took a long drink. As he did he noticed another back SUV drive up the road and through the gate. "Is it just me, or is there a lot of traffic coming and going? Even for a government military base?" |
Danny ![]() |
Danny laughed at that, "yes that would be an unpleasant meal for a T rex, even though knowing our luck they would take one sniff of her and decide she's not worth the trouble of eating, even though ..." he considered as he took the last few bites of his curry, "I can't imagine Christine having the necessary survival training to last in whatever time period she would end up in," And then he paused as he followed Becker's gaze, reaching for his binoculars to get a closer look, "that does seem rather unusual, do you think Christine's having a party?" he glanced at Becker with a grin, "and to think she didn't invite us," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker put the food down on the dashboard and grabbed his binoculars as well. "Well if it's a party the dress code seems to be a lot of back fatigues and shady-looking fellows. Seems like our invite got lost somehow because we would fit right in!" Becker pointed toward the group standing just inside the perimeter gate. Danny, you were such a terrible influence! "Think we could do with a closer look, get to the perimeter and see if we can catch anything they are saying see if we can figure out what they are talking about." |
Danny ![]() |
Hey Danny resembled that remark! "I like the way you're thinking Cap'n," Danny said with a grin, "I think we should blend in pretty well, maybe take our phones so we can try and get some photos or at least record what they're saying, could use it to convince Lester to let us run a proper surveillance on Christine later," This was going to end poorly. |
![]() | So So poorly... you really did induce brain rot at times, Danny. Sorry, not Sorry. "Sounds good- and not like we plan on holding a conversation with anyone. Just nip over closer, do some recon, and them head back. In and out real quick. Should be easy!" Famous last words there Becker. |
Danny ![]() |
"Exactly," Danny grinned at Becker, "have a quick look on the grounds and see what we can find and then we'll be back before anyone notices we've gone and we've got some great new intel we can work against Christine," Very famous last words. |
Becker ![]() |
"Alright let's do this" Becker said with a nod as he took one last quick drink then grabbed the torch from the bag in the backseat. "Should probably go light on the gear- binoculars for you, torch for me if we need it." And after a minute, Becker turned and looked at Danny with a small nod. "Awaiting your instructions sir." |
Danny ![]() |
"Alright let's get this show on the road," Danny grinned as he took a mouthful of his own drink, "how about we start making our way over to the gate, maybe walk by it once or twice first so that they'll think we're just a couple of passerbys and they won't think anything unusual about that?" |
![]() | "Let's do this" Becker said with a nod as he slipped his pistol into his belt and pulled his shirt down over it,because recon or not, he was not going in totally unarmed. With everything ready Becker started after Danny, following him as they made their way slowly towards the road leading past the gate. He stopped near one of the clumps of brush and tried to hear what they guards were talking about. |
Danny ![]() |

Danny ![]() |
Danny was definitely going to regret not bringing his own weapon to this stakeout. He took out his phone as he hid near a tree and tried to discreetly take some photos of the guards that were around, he tried to see if he could see what they were talking about by reading their lips but lip reading had been one of the few things he hadn't been good at. He glanced at Becker, trying to get his attention and making a miming action about getting closer to the gate. |
![]() | Becker stared at Danny for a minute, a confused look on his face. "What?" he mouthed, looking at Danny like he was crazy. Shaking his head for a moment he turned and looked towards the guard trying to judge how close they ended up walking each time they passed in front of the gate. Slowly Becker started to creep a little closer, still staying hidden in the brush as much as he could. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny sighed as Becker didn't seem to understand what he was trying to mime and then rolled his eyes as Becker started to move towards the gate anyway. He kept his phone out as he started to move towards the gate as well, hoping he could get some good footage, maybe even catch Christine in the act and find out what they were doing here. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker stayed crouched down and watched as the guards started to make their approach back towards them. He turned and nodded at Danny. If they were going to possibly pick up on anything they were saying it was going to be now as they got closer and passed by where they were hiding out. Becker listened and looked at Danny nodding slowly as bits of the conversation came through. There was a mention of Christine's name and something about an artifact... or something... whatever it was, it seemed to be what all the fuss was about. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny nodded back at Becker to show that he understood and then he crouched down as well, with his phone out as far as he could get it as he reordered the conversation. The word artefact was getting mentioned several times now and he glanced over at Becker to see if he understood what any of it met. |

Becker ![]() |
Becker gave a small shrug of confusion and gave a wave of his hand to signal to Danny to keep recording. He had no idea what it was Christine had in there, but if it was a big enough deal the guards outside couldn't stop talking about it and whispering about it on patrol, then it had to be something big. And something of that importance, whatever it might be, in Christne's hands was a terrifying thought. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny nodded and tried to change up the angles of his phone so he could get a different side of the conversation, he frowned when he heard the word 'ARC' and 'Anomalies' mentioned. This was not looking good. He crept even closer to see what else he could record. |
![]() | Becker picked up on that too... he was also pretty sure he heard Nick and Connor's names get mentions as well as Lesters. Whatever it was, Christine had plans and if her focus was on the ARC and the team that was bad news for them all! Becker gave Danny a worried look as he crept closer right to the edge of the cover and strained to try and hear more. |
Danny ![]() |
And then Danny's phone started ringing and he realised in horror he'd forgotten to put his phone on silent ... how could he have been so stupid? He tried to stop his phone ringing but it was loud, he managed to shut it down but not before he saw it that was Cutter who had been trying to ring. He looked over at Danny with a worried expression, maybe the guards would think the phone was one of theirs? His ringtone was fairly generic, it was somewhat possible. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker's head spun around and he looked at Danny in horror as the phone started to ring. As soon as Danny had it switched off he held his breath, barely daring to breathe as he waited to see if the guards noticed. He thought maybe they had finally been able to get away with it when... "Wasn't mine. Someone's here! Find them!" Crap, this was so not good, and Becker barely had time to react before the guards were through the gate and heading their way. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny's eyes widened as the guards started to head their way, he looked over at Becker, not trusting himself to speak as he made a head motion back to the car as if trying to indicate if they would be able to make a run for it. He nervously put his phone in his pocket, starting to see if he could at least make it back to the tree he had been using as cover earlier. |
![]() | Becker nodded and tried to slowly start backing away towards where Danny had been standing. As he did his foot caught on a root and he lost his balance for a split second but that was enough to send him down into the leaves. In the split second he had, Becker looked up at Danny and jerked his head to the side to try and get him to make a run for it. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny was not going to leave Becker behind and even though he knew this meant they were certainly both going to get caught now, he wasn't going to leave Becker alone to face whatever kind of hell Christine had in that HQ of hers and he ran over to try and help him up. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker gave Danny a look as he started to scramble to his feet, and just as he got his feet under him again he heard the sound of boots on the gravel of the road right by them. An instant later Becker had to close his eyes against the blinding light of high-power torches shining on them. This was not good. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny resigned himself to the fact that they were definitely not getting out of this one so easily, he raised a hand to try and stop the brightness of the torches from hurting his eyes and braced himself for what was going to come next. |
![]() | Becker had pretty much expected what came next, the order to get down and out their hands behind their heads. Damnit. They were definitely not getting out of this easily. And he couldn't even get to his pistol... not that he would have tried to use that against at least two men who likely had much better firepower. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny had also pretty much expected what was to follow and he knew right then that he and Becker would not be able to fight off all of these armed guards, so he sighed and raised his hands in surrender as he got down on his knees and put his hands behind his head. He wished he could grab his phone and sent a message to Cutter or to somebody to let them know of their predicament but he knew that he wasn't going to be that lucky. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker winced slightly as the guards approached, singing the light in their eyes before roughly hauling them to their feet. And like the professionals they seemed to be, it took them a matter of seconds to find his gun, rendering them effectively defenseless. |
Danny ![]() |
It didn't take long at all for the guards to find the phone as well, Danny winced as the guard got his phone and broke it so they had no way of letting anyone know where they were. "Evening gents," Danny said, unsure of what possessed him to do this at that moment, "lovely night for a stroll isn't it?" He wasn't expecting a response but he shouldn't have been to surprised by the punch to his stomach that came his way, "such a friendly lot you are," and then groaned when another punch quickly followed. |
![]() | Becker really should have expected that shouldn't he? And he also should have expected his own gun to be used on him, hitting him right between the shoulders when he made a move to try and get to Danny. He dropped to his knees for a moment before getting roughly hauled back to his feet. He looked over at Danny, trying to silently check on him as the guards started half marching half dragging them through the gate. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny doubled over in pain as the blows hit him squarely in the stomach but because someone was holding him tightly from behind there was nowhere for him to go, he couldn't get very far. He grunted, looking over at Becker to nod and indicate that he was okay but that was all he could manage before he was roughly being dragged inside the guard. "Okay, Okay I can take the hint," Danny grumbled as he tried to keep up but that only earned him another punch in the stomach. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker followed after, trying to keep his feet from tripping over themselves as they were unceremoniously shoved through the gate and towards the entrance. He stopped for a second to try and get his balance back and all that did was earn him another hit with the butt of one of the guns, this time in his lower back which of course did nothing for his balance as he bit back the cry of pain that started to slip past his lips as he turned around and glared at the guard behind him. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny tried to force down any feelings of nervousness that he was feeling but it was very hard when he was being shoved roughly from behind and he kept stumbling as he tried to keep walking quickly. His ribs hurt from where they'd been punched but he wasn't going to let them have the satisfaction that they'd hurt him and kept his gaze straight ahead as they were forced to march towards the building that was getting closer and closer. |
Christine ![]() |
Well this was turning into quite an unexpected evening, Christine had been in her office finishing up a call with the Minister when Captain Wilder had informed her that they had caught two intruders snooping outside. She went to the holding cell and she could barely contain her delight when she realised that it was Captain Becker and Danny Quinn, they were both handcuffed to their chairs and they'd clearly being roughed up on their way in. "Hilary Becker," she smirked, knowing full well that he hated being called by his first name, "and Danny Quinn, well well well to what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?" |
Becker ![]() |
"That's Captain Becker" Becker said coldly as he fixed his gaze on Christine. As much as he really didn't want to look at her more than he had to, he was trying really had to ignore the feeling of the cuffs on his wrists. "We just wanted to come by and pay you a visit" Danny said with a smirk. "You've graced us with your presence figured we would return the favor." |
![]() | "And here I thought you boys might have realised your days at the ARC are numbered and have come crawling to me begging me for a job," Christine smirked as she sat down in the chair opposite them, "how about it I'll give you one last chance to work for me and all of this will go away," she knew full well they weren't going to do that but she did enjoy the thought of making them squirm just a little longer before she could get to enjoy her games. |
Danny ![]() |
"Sorry, gonna have to pass. I hear the work environment here is utter crap" Danny said with a smirk. "And the welcome gifts are not all that impressive" he added with a slight tug at the handcuffs around his wrists. Becker just sat stoned face, trying not to show any emotion as he leveled his gaze at Christine. She knew what his answer was- same as it was every single other time she had asked him to join her. |
Christine ![]() |
"So be it," Christine smirked, she would have actually been disappointed if they had actually said they would work for her, "I should warn you boys, you're now in my custody on a government black site ... that means none of the normal rules apply here, I can do whatever I want to you and there's nothing you can do about it, unless ..." she paused pointedly, "you tell me exactly what I want to know," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker felt his stomach drop, the realization of what the black site status meant hitting him just before Christine vocalized it. This was bad, This was very very bad. "Ok you tortured it out of me" Danny said with a smirk. "You are a very smart and intelligent woman who could eat the Minister for breakfast if given a chance. That was what you wanted to hear right? We're free to go now?" Becker glanced over at Danny with a look of disbelief. The brazen snark even cut through that twinge of panic he felt in his stomach just then. |
![]() | "Flattery will get you nowhere Mr. Quinn," Christine said sweetly as her gaze flickered from Becker to Danny, "I don't think you quite realise the precariousness of your predicament, you'll be singing a very different tune once I'm through with you," She looked back at Becker, "you know exactly what this site means Captain, I imagine you've been in quite a few of them yourself, I would start talking if I were you, you know as well as anyone what goes on in these sites, it won't be pleasant for either of you ... " |
Becker ![]() |
Becker had to consciously focus on his breathing just then. He did know all too well the depths that things could get to at a place like this. He had overseen and been a part of his share of interrogations over the years- always on the other side of the table though. It was something they actually trained them to be prepared for in Spec Ops but Becker had the distinct advantage/disadvantage of having already been tortured before. He looked at Christine and saw the look in her eyes he had seen once before, in the eyes of his captors all those years ago. Becker just sat there, quiet, feeling his heart drop into his stomach at how dire their situation was. |
Christine ![]() |
"Nothing? No response? They really did train you well didn't they Captain?" Christine smirked, "oh well ... looks like I get to see how well they trained you after all, you are going to regret refusing my job offer by the time I'm through with you, you'll be begging me for mercy," she wasn't even attempting to hide the enjoyment she was getting out of these threats. |
Danny ![]() |
Becker clenched his jaw and didnt say anything knowing that giving in the Christine and letting her bait in him so quickly would just make things worse. He glanced over at Danny who gave a small nod, understanding the silent message. "That's a no from me as well, sorry" Danny said and after that he went quiet, the snark, at least for the time being, falling as he sat and stared at Christine as well He knew he and Becker were in bad shape and Christine was making threats already. But that was all they were right? Threats? The whole black site stuff was nonsense... wasn't it? |
![]() | "So be it," Christine said and there was a knock at the door and she got up to answer it, a few minutes later she came back carrying black hoods, which she deliberately held out for Becker's benefit, she knew exactly what this would do to him, "I'm afraid I'm going to need to attend to some urgent matters for a while, but I thought these might help set the mood so to speak, you and I are going to have a lot of fun here boys," she smirked as she studied their reactions. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny looked at Christine and the hoods she was making such a show of. And while he wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of not being able to see what she was doing or know what might be coming, Danny wasn't too worried. There was just a slight flip in his stomach as he looked at her, trying to keep his gaze as neutral as possible and not let her get any sort of inkling that he might be put off by the threat. He was not making any snarky quips just then, so he was clearly affected somewhat by the hoods being introduced. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker's reaction on the other hand was far more telling, despite his best efforts. The instant he saw the hoods in Christine's hands it felt like the handcuffs suddenly tightened around his wrists. Flashes of memories flickered in his mind and he saw himself once more bound, a very similar hood over his head, room filled with voices speaking broken English, and his heart near beating out of his chest. For that moment Becker was right back there until he closed his eyes, took a deep breath and opened them again to see Christine standing there. Which, honestly, wasn't all that much better a situation really. |

Christine smiled knowingly as she studied Danny and then Becker’s reactions, paying close attention to Becker’s in particular. It was exactly the reaction she was going for. A few more minutes and she placed the hoods over their heads, “sit tight boys, I’ll be right back,” and then she was gone, leaving them alone handcuffed to their chairs and the black hoods covering their heads. |
![]() | The jump of panic was near instant even as Becker tried to pull his head away despite his attempt to not give anything away. And then there was blackness. Suffocating blackness. Becker didn't hear anything Christine had said, all he heard was the sound of the blood pounding in his ears. Danny made a show of trying to avoid the hood but it had of course been pointless and he too was soon cast into the same darkness. He sat quiet for a moment, trying to adjust to that sudden loss of his vision. A couple minutes later when he figured Christine was gone he finally spoke up. "Becker... you ok mate?" Becker swallowed hard, trying to force himself to reply. "Y-yeah" was all he managed to get out. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine walked around the corner to where there was viewing window of the cell. “Have they said anything yet?” she asked one of the soldiers who had been watching the exchange. “Nothing so far yet ma’am, just asking if the other’s okay,” “Well that’s boring,” she sighed as she took a seat and looked to see if Becker and Danny would say anything while thinking she wasn’t listening. |
Danny ![]() |
"We're gonna figure a way out of this" Danny said as he gave another tug at the handcuffs though he knew enough to know they were not going to budge. "Ya don't happen to remember where exactly in the building we are do ya Cap'n?" Becker trembled slightly and nodded then realized, idiot Danny was as blind as he was just then. "I.. I think so..." Becker said simply. It was part of the training from Spec Ops, you had to be able to remember complicated routes with little to no time to study a map or remember your steps. He was pretty sure he remembered where in the building they likely were. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine leaned forward thoughtfully as Becker said he thought he knew where there were …now this could prove to be interesting…if he knew the layout of the building, what else did he know? |
![]() | "Good... if we can trust that schematic we found... we might not be as blind as thought in here." Danny gave a small dry laugh and then cleared his throat when all he got from Becker was silence. "Right so..what do you think all that talk about an artifact was about? Christine collecting dino bones and such now all of a sudden?" "I... don't know" Becker said trying to keep his voice even though his hands were starting to tremble a bit more, the blackness and lack of vision really starting to get to him. "It probably has something to do with.... with the anomalies. Maybe something from an anomaly site?" "You think there's been anomalies we haven't found or gotten to that Christine has?" "I... I wouldn't put it past Christine... to have found an anomaly or two... of her own" Becker said and he trembled slightly at the realization of what that could truly mean. |
Christine ![]() |
Now this was definitely interesting…so they knew about the artifact …and possibly her own anomaly. Christine smirked so Lester had been doing his research as well, maybe there was more information they knew …she was very curious to see just how much Becker and Danny knew and would reveal while they were blindfolded. |
Becker ![]() |
After another minute or two Danny spoke up again. "Hey Becker...do you think Christine..." He didn't get to finish the question because just then Becker's body began to tremble and he turned his head towards Danny. "Quinn... just shut up... for a minute," he said, his voice catching slightly as he tried to push past the panic rising inside, but it was getting to be too much and he couldn't ignore it anymore. In the blackness Christine had cast him into, all Becker could see were the flashes back to what had been the worst day of his entire life. Try as he might to keep himself grounded, Becker was struggling to keep the panic at bay. |
Christine ![]() |
Now they were getting somewhere, Christine knew based on Becker’s file that the blindness would be worse for him and she studied him. …wondering how long it would take before he completely broke and told her what she wanted to know. |
![]() | Danny sat in the silence that had filled the room. He had noticed something about the way Becker had spoken, Without the visual cues it was hard to know for sure, but he was almost certain he had heard Becker's voice tremble as if he was afraid. That made Danny sit and wonder what was going on and he tried to listen if he could hear anything other than the sound of his admittedly slightly panicked breathing- but there was nothing. |
Christine ![]() |
Well this was proving to be a waste of time, Christine sighed as it became clear that Becker wasn’t going to reveal anything else. “Looks like I’m going to have to do this the old fashioned way,” she sighed and got up to walk back to the holding cell. She removed the blindfolds from Danny and Becker, “now boys let’s have a little chat shall we? What do you know about the artifact?” she sat back down in her chair and looked at them. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny glanced over at Becker once the hoods were removed and he tried to see how he was doing. He didn't get much chance as Christine was on them almost immediately with questions. Danny glanced over at Becker who gave the smaller of head shakes. They had no clue what the artifact was and he didn't know if it was better to make Christine think they did or to be truthful and say they had no more clue than she seemed to. Becker tried to get his breathing to calm down as he looked over at Christine and finally spoke. "We know as much as you- it's related to the anomalies somehow." |
Christine ![]() |
"Oh I don't think that's quite true, I think you know more than you're letting on," Christine said sweetly as she looked at them, "I had hoped you boys would now realise just how serious I am about getting what I want ... looks like I may have to up my game, Captain ... such a shame, I'd hate to break that pretty face of yours," and she reached over to give Becker's cheek a stroke. |
![]() | Becker tried to keep his gaze even, his breathing steady, trying to remember all his training. BUt Christine had already rattled him a little and he couldn't stop himself from recoiling at her touch. Maybe it was the fear still sitting like a rock in his chest or his short-circuiting brain, but for whatever reason Becker found himself pulling a page out of Danny's book as he looked up at Christine. "Sorry, you're not my type" he said simply. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine would have honestly expected that from Danny, so she was a little surprised to hear it from Becker, so she tilted her head and then lifted her hand and gave Becker's cheek a quick and sharp slap. "Pity, could have made it worth your while, guess I'll just have to wait til Nick's in my custody for some rough action, it won't be long before he's joining you," she said sweetly as she looked from Becker to Danny. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker gave a small hiss of pain at the slap. The open hand slap stung more than anything. He had had worse, but Christine could get some surprising power behind her when she wanted to. Becker kept his eyes fixed on Christine and struggled to keep his expression neutral when she mentioned Cutter, but he utterly failed. No amount of training and no number of years of experience would undo that connection he had formed with Cutter and Connor both. "Leave them... out of this" he said through gritted teeth as he felt his eyes water from the sting of the slap. "You've done enough! Just leave them be!" |
Christine ![]() |
Christine smiled at that, "oh I'm afraid that's out of my hands, Captain the Minister's signed off of that... just a shame that you won't be there for when I arrest them both ..." her eyes gleamed at that, "now ... depending on how comfortable you wanted them to be once they're here ... well I think we could negotiate for that, what do you think Captain ... Mr. Quinn?" |
![]() | "Your bluffing" Danny said trying to sound cool and calm but the normal snark was gone from his voice. "And if you aren't you know good and well you have no intention of honoring any agreement. You're going to do what you are going to do regardless of what we say or don't say. Sorry, we're not falling for that trick." Danny looked over at Becker and gave a small apologetic look. Becker knew he was right- they couldn't trust a thing Christine said when it came to negotiating anything for themselves or for Nick or Connor. She was just trying to get them to crack and give her what she wanted. Becker knew this.... but still... He was glad Danny had spoken up because he wasn't sure he would have been able to say those words himself just then. As it was he just nodded, sitting silent, refusing to give Christine what she wanted. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine shook her head, "such a pity, I had hoped you two cared enough about Nick and Connor but I guess once you came in and took over as leader, what use was he to you anymore?" she smirked, "I do admire the power play though Mr. Quinn, remove all threats to your leadership, harsh but admirable," |
Danny ![]() |
"You know thats a bloody lie" Danny said through clenched teeth. He knew he had already said too much with that but he couldn't help himself. All he was thinking about right then was keeping Nick, Connor and the rest of the team safe. That was why after a moment, he sighed and looked up at Christine. "You're right. I am the team leader now. You've already robbed Nick and Connor of all their access and power at the ARC. Let them be. They are useless to you anymore. Take me and let Becker and the others be. I'm the one who's the greatest threat to your little operation here anyways." Becker looked over at Danny like he was crazy and was about to say something. But the look Danny gave him made him close his mouth, biting back the words he was going to say. |
Christine ![]() |
"Oh you see that's where you're wrong Mr. Quinn," Christine practically purred at that, delighted that she had seemed to have struck a nerve, "no ... I have the both of you right where I want you and when Nick and Connor are here, I'll have them too ... now let's see ... you did make a very good point about you being leader, that means you're the one with the information ... I should change my focus on breaking you," she laughed, "oh this is going to be fun Mr. Quinn ... " she turned back to Becker, "I think it's time that we upped the threat level here, show you both that I mean business ...I'm going to have my men beat Captain Becker and you can watch ... knowing full well that you're the reason he's going through this," |
![]() | Becker felt the blood drain out of his face at that and he tried desperately to keep the fear off his face. He glanced at Danny and shook his head. He could give Christine anything. They both had to just endure whatever she threw at them. But Becker had a very very bad feeling about what was going to happen.... Danny cried out in anger at Christine and her threat as he tugged at the cuffs again, glaring at her. Damnit this wasn't good... she had both of them under her thumb and there wasn't a damned thing they could do about it. "Becker..." Danny started as he looked over at him. "I'll be fine Quinn" Becker replied through gritted teeth. |
Christine ![]() |
“Oh I wouldn’t be so sure about that Captain,” Christine said sweetly as she watched their reactions. A few moments later and the door to the cell opened and Captain Wilder and his men entered. “This is your last chance boys, tell me what I want to know,” she demanded. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker's eyes snapped over to Wilder as he walked in, flanked by his men. Of course it would have to be him. The man who helped train him all those years. Who taught him how to break men and how to resist being broken himself. Becker couldn't think of anyone he'd hate to have standing across form him right then more than Captain Wilder. He had been there from the beginning and had even had a role int he rescue mission. This was bad- if anyone knew what Becker could handle and how to try and break him, it was Wilder. Becker looked at Christine and then back to Wilder and lifted his chin, jaw clenched as he stared the man down. This was not going to end well, but Becker knew he couldn't give in to Christine. He had to protect Cutter, and Connor, and the rest of the team however he could. And all the while Danny looked on helplessly, glaring daggers at Christine and at Captain Wilder when he walked in and stood in front of them. |
Christine ![]() |
“Nothing at all?” Christine smirked, “such a pity, very well have it your own way Captain Becker,” she shook her head, “Captain Wilder, he’s all yours,” “With pleasure ma’am,” Wilder showed no emotion as he stood over Becker, waited a few more moments and then sent a punch flying directly at Becker’s jaw. |
![]() | Becker's head snapped to the side with the force of the punch and he grimaced from the pain but managed to stay quiet. He didn't want to give Wilder any more satisfaction than what he was already going to get out of this. As Becker slowly turned his head back, he looked up at the man he had once considered a mentor. He narrowed his eyes and glared back at Wilder defiantly as he leaned over as far as he could in the chair and spat out the blood in his mouth, barely missing Wilder's perfectly polished boots. Becker knew this was just the beginning of what Wilder could .... would... do and he was trying to mentally prepare himself for it. |
Christine ![]() |
Captain Wilder’s expression betrayed no emotion at that, even though he did feel rather smug at knowing his training worked. Instead he began to let loose a series of punches at Becker, making sure to target all the key spots where he knew the pain would be felt the most. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker tried to move and lessen the impact of each blow. But it was hard to roll with the punches and guard against them when he couldn't even get his hands up to protect himself. By the time Wilder paused to catch his break Becker was doubled over in the chair, gasping for breath. His ribs were burning and the last punch to his stomach had knocked the wind out of him, making him feel like he was going to pass out. Becker glanced over at Danny as he struggled to catch his breath. He saw that look in Danny's eyes, the un-voiced question clear on his face. Becker shook his head, telling Danny no, not to say anything. "I'm not... going... to tell you... anything!" he gasped as he glared at Christine. |
Christine ![]() |
"Oh you're a stubborn one Captain Becker," Christine purred, "I'm really going to enjoy breaking you, not just figuratively," she nodded at Wilder, "continue Captain Wilder," This time instead of continuing punching him, Captain Wilder went for Becker's shoulder, leaning his hands against him as he asserted all his weight and pressure onto Becker's shoulder and he held his hands there with trained precision. |
![]() | Becker tried to bite back the cry of pain, but it was no use. He had already taken several punches to the shoulder, and the pressure Wilder was exiting was setting shooting pain down his arm. Becker cried out as Wilder shifted his hands, adding more pressure and started to move his shoulder. "Captain..." Becker gasped out, the pain stealing his breath away. Becker knew if Wilder shifted just a little more, added a little more pressure in the right spot, his shoulder wasn't going to hold out. |
Christine ![]() |
And for the briefest of moments Wilder hesitated, glancing back at Christine while still keeping his grip on the pressure points on Becker's shoulder. "Do you have anything that you would like to tell me Captain Becker?" Christine smiled, enjoying the cry of pain that had escaped from him, "all of this will go away, you just have to tell me what I want to know," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker looked at Wilder, his face contorted with pain though his voice was cold, even as he gasped against the pain. "Go... to hell" he spat out even as he braced himself for what Wilder was likely to do next. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder was about to go back to asserting pressure on Becker's arm but Christine held up a hand, "wait, wait ... we don't want to rush through this ... after all, they're never going to be getting out of here, we can take our time with them," Wilder let go of Becker's arm, paused and then sent one more punch flying towards Becker's chest before he stepped away. |
![]() | "Becker!" Danny cried out as Becker slumped forward from the force of that final punch. Danny pulled at the cuffs and glared at Wilder like he was about to somehow jump out of the chair and strangle him himself. Becker didn't move for a minute or two, the pain finally getting to be too much as he passed out, slumped over in the chair. |
Christine ![]() |
"Well that's disappointing," Christine sighed as she went over to Becker, "I thought you were going to be a lot stronger than that," she aimed a slap at his cheek to get him to wake up, "come on Captain, I'm not through with you yet, I have a surprise for you and I need you to be awake for this," |
Becker ![]() |
Danny was all but growling at Christine as he glared at her and Wilder, though his chest was tight with concern as he looked at Becker. The slap was enough to jolt Becker back to consciousness as he took a ragged gasp, the pain shooting through him as he coughed, making his entire body tense and ache. He lifted his head and looked at Christine, unable to speak just then. |
Christine ![]() |
"There we go, that wasn't so bad now was it?" Christine smirked as she reached over to give his shoulder where Captain Wilder had been pressing on it a moment ago a sharp slap, "I think we're done here for now, I feel like I've made my point very clear," she added, "I want you boys to think of just how much trouble you're in, no one knows where you are and you're completely at my mercy," She smirked then as she went to uncuff Danny's handcuffs and then a moment later she was undoing Becker's. |
![]() | Danny watched Christine closely, not trusting her as she went to undo the cuffs from around his wrists. As soon as he was free and Christine had undone Becker's cuffs, he jumped to his feet and started toward Becker. A firm hand on his shoulder forced him back into the chair roughly and he growled at Wilder as the man held him in place. Becker felt dizzy, his head was spinning and his ears ringing as he sat there. It barely registered when Christinw was standing in front of him once again and started undoing the cuffs. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine smiled as she undid the cuffs, "actually you know what, I think I quite like you tied up Captain Becker, I think I'm going to leave the cuffs on you," and then she made a slow and deliberate show of putting the handcuffs back on and taking extreme delight when she tightened them even more than they had before. |
Becker ![]() |
The feeling of the cuffs coming off had roused Becker and he stared down at his hands as they were uncuffed. But he barely had time to feel relieved before Christine grabbed his wrists and pulled his arms behind him and cuffed him again. The reaction was near instant as he felt the cold metal dig into his wrists and he started to pull against Christine and get free, the fear and panic showing clearly in his eyes just then. |
Christine ![]() |
"It will be easier if you don't struggle Captain Becker," Christine smiled at seeing just how afraid he really was, "you of all people should know that ...I'll tell you what, if after tonight, you have a change of heart and tell me what I want to know ... I'll remove the cuffs," she stood up and reached her hand over to give him a mocking pat on the head. |
![]() | Becker felt himself slide off the chair as Christine finally let go after finishing. He barely felt the mocking pat and just stared ahead, still trying to get free from the cuffs. "No.... no... you cant... Christine!" he called out. Becker would have hated himself if he could hear how desperate he sounded just then but he was barely aware of anything other than the overwhelming desire to be free. |
Christine ![]() |
"Oh but I can Captain Becker," Christine practically laughed at that, "you're in my jurisdiction now, I told you that quite plainly and you chose to ignore me ... well I think a night in here will make you more agreeable to my questions," she smirked as she stood up and walked towards the door, nodding at Captain Wilder and his men to leave the room. She turned back to face Becker and Danny, "well boys it's been a pleasure, I strongly advise building your strength up, you're going to need it for tomorrow" and then she was gone, leaving them alone in the cell. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny watched Becker in concern, waiting until he was absolutely sure that Christine and Wilder and everyone had left. Once they were gone, he immediately ran over to Becker, bending down so that he was eye level with him, "Becker? Becker it's me Danny, they're gone," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker felt like he was suffocating, his chest tight and everything hurting. He closed his eyes trying to calm down but as soon as his eyes were closed he right back there again, in that other cell years ago. It felt so real. "Danny... I...." Becker opened his eyes again as his entire body started to tremble. |
![]() | "Hey, hey we're going to be okay, Becker ... breathe, let's focus on breathing, can you do that for me?" Danny said gently, wishing there was something he could do to remove the handcuffs, "I'm going to get you through this," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded as he took a gulping breath and tried to push down the lump that had settled in his throat. Breathing... he could do that... breathing was normal... easy... right? Becker tried to focus on each breath in and out, trying to ignore the cuffs. Slowly he started to calm down a little though he was still trembling a bit as he finally spoke again. "They... they're gone... right?" |
Danny ![]() |
Danny watched Becker start to calm down, his breathing still seemed to be too uneven for his liking but this was good progress, "that's it ... breathe in nice and slow," he encouraged, "and they're gone," he assured him, he wished he could add that they were safe but the truth was they both far from safe, "she said she was done for the night but well ... I wouldn't trust Christine as far as I could throw her," he sighed, "she'll probably come back at some point to catch us off guard," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded as a shiver ran through him at the thought of Christine or Wilder coming back just then. "At least they're gone... for now" Becker said weakly as he kept trying to get his breathing under control. And as the panic began to clear somewhat he realized just how pathetic and pitiful he probably looked just then. But he tried not to think about it, trying to remind himself of how to calm down and ground himself again. |
![]() | Danny watched Becker with concern, wishing there was more he could do, "we have a few hours at least to try and come up with a game plan, how to get ourselves out of here," he lowered his head, "I should have answered the phone at least Cutter would have had some idea where we were," he sighed. |
Becker ![]() |
"Lester is... a smart man" Becker said looking over at Danny. "He... he'll probably figure out where we headed off to..." Not that he would have any power to do much about it. Christine’s words about this being a blackout facility made Becker sigh. But he pushed that back, trying to focus on the fact someone would eventually figure out where they were. Becker shifted as he tried to figure out the best way to sit and get off his knees. He pulled at the cuffs slightly and sighed. "So, how are we gonna get out of this?" |
Danny ![]() |
"Well he'll figure out somethings wrong when we don't report in the morning and with tracking, maybe he'll figure out our last known location," Danny sighed, "even though knowing Christine she's already found our car and made sure it was nowhere to be found," He rubbed the back of his neck as he looked around the cell they were in, "there's got to be somewhere out of here, an air vent or something we can crawl out of? Think you'd be up to that if we were able to find one?" |
Becker ![]() |
"If I get the use my arms back" Becker said with a small shrug and an attempted chuckle. "I should be fine for that" he added as he started to look around the holding cell. The walls looked pretty uniform but there was probably a vent or something up in the ceiling they could use possibly. |
![]() | "Then we look for that air vent, try and climb our way out," Danny decided, "I don't think we're going to be so lucky that she left the door unlocked ..." he walked over to the door and tried it, "nope it's locked," he sighed. He began to pace around the cell as he tried to come up with another idea in case the original one didn't work. |
Becker ![]() |
"We could always try to figure a way to keep the door from locking?" Becker thought out loud as he watched Danny pace. "Too bad we don't have a lock pick or something. I might be able to get the door unlocked if we did." Becker gave a dry laugh at the look Danny gave him. "What? Lock picking was something they taught us in spec ops!" |
Danny ![]() |
Danny raised an eyebrow, "of course they did," he sighed, "I'll see if I can find something that we might be able to use in place of a lock pick but this cell seems pretty bare ..." he noted. "If there was a way we could overpower them when the door was still open?" he wondered, "that might be another option?" |
Becker ![]() |
Becker didn't want to say it out loud but he had a feeling neither of them were going to be in any state to try and overpower Wilder and his men if Christine kept at them like this for very long. But he didn't want to think about it. "Could be an option if the opportunity comes along" he said, trying to sound more hopeful than he felt just then. Everything hurt, Wilder had done a number on him and he few slaps Christine had gotten in had also done their share of damage. Becker was sure the bruises would be starting to show by morning. |
![]() | Danny nodded, trying to feel optimistic about their chances of escape, he looked over at Becker in concern, "I hate to say it but maybe we should try to get some rest? I'll keep a look out for Christine and Wilder if they come back early, if you want to try and get some sleep?" he offered. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker bit his lip slightly. He wasnt sure sleep would be something he'd be able to do in his current position, but his entire body ached and he was tired. Maybe he'd be able to at least rest some? "You going to be ok?" Becker asked, the concern in his eyes showing as he looked at Danny. "You're gonna need your rest too..." |
Danny ![]() |
"Yeah, I'll be fine," Danny assured hm, "I may not be special ops but they do teach us a thing or two at the police academy," he said with a small smile, "I can get by without much sleep, I'll stay guard and watch out for any unwanted visitors," he added. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded, reluctantly conceding. He was just too tired, physically and mentally, to argue with Danny about this because any other time, he would have insisted on them taking shifts. "Alright..." Becker said tiredly as he tried to figure out how in the world to get into a somewhat bearable position in the chair. He shifted a few times and then finally started to relax a bit more. It didn't take long really once he let himself get relaxed enough that the exhaustion took over and Becker finally fell into a fitful sleep. |
![]() | Danny watched Becker begin to fall asleep and once he was, he checked the cell one more time to see if there was any kind of way they could escape the cell that he had missed and then once it was clear no obvious solution was going to present itself, he moved his chair over to be closer to Becker and he sat there to stay guard over him. He wasn't going to let any more harm come to him, he was going to make sure of it. |
Christine ![]() |
It was early the next morning when Christine and Captain Wilder stoped by the cell, she wondered what state she would find Becker and Quinn in so she was rather surprised to see that Becker was asleep and that Danny was keeping guard in his chair. "Well isn't this all nice and cozy," she remarked with a smirk, "I'm surprised Mr. Quinn I thought you would have taken the first chance you had and left Captain Becker to fend for himself," |
Danny ![]() |
"I am many things" Danny said coldly as he looked over at Christine and then to Captain Wilder, considering for a brief moment if he thought he could take them both on. "And one of those things is loyal. Something I am sure the two of you know nothing about!" Danny quipped bitterly. He turned and looked at Becker as he stirred and woke from the fitful sleep he had fallen into. He opened his eyes and couldn't help the brief panic that washed over him as he saw Christine and Wilder there again. |
![]() | Christine smirked at that, "you'll be singing quite a different tune once we're through with you Mr. Quinn, loyalty means nothing in here," Then she noticed Becker begin to stir and open his eyes, "well well well ... nice of sleeping beauty to join us," she remarked casually as she walked closer to Becker, "I hope you built your strength up ... Captain Wilder was being quite generous yesterday in holding back his punches as I'm sure you well know what he's capable of, today is going to be very different," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker shifted in the chair and tried to sit upright and get his bearings before Christine or Wilder descended on him. He did know full well what Wilder could do. There was good reason he was one of the most renowned hand-to-hand combatants Whitehall had ever seen. Becker knew yesterday was just a warmup session for Wilder and he couldn't help the twinge of fear he felt as he tried to swallow it down. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine smiled at that, "well I suppose we should get this show on the road then shall we boys?" her eyes gleamed at the thought of what lay ahead, "and to think we have the full day ahead of us, this is going to be such fun," she eyed Becker hungrily, "Captain Wilder, I think we should get started don't you?" Wilder merely nodded, "yes ma'am," as he walked towards Becker. |
Becker ![]() |
For a moment as Becker watched Wilder stalking towards him he was back at basic training. He had been on the receiving end of Wilder's unique training methods before. He knew what the man could do with his hands and how powerful he was. In a fair fight, Becker used to be able to hold his own and put up a good fight when they would spare. But like this, there wasn't a chance. He blinked, clearing away those memories as he tried to prepare himself, glaring up angrily at the man before him. |
![]() | Christine stood back as Wilder approached Becker and eventually stopped in front of him, there was no expression on his face as he stood, waiting for Christine's go ahead and then once she gave one simple nod, He started to let a series of punches fly at Becker. This time he did not hold back and he made sure his blows landed precisely where they would cause maximum pain. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker did his best to weather the shots. His hands might have still been cuffed behind him but he wasn't stuck in the chair at least this time. Becker moved as he could to try and counter the blows but without a way to defend himself nearly every single one hit on target. At one point, Becker tried to get to his feet, tried to mount some sort of attack or counter aginst Wilder's onslaught. But he was still totally vulnerable, and a few well-aimed shots to the stomach, ribs, and chest had him doubled over in pain and dropping to his knees on the floor. |
Christine ![]() |
"Well, well, well you do still have some fight in you," Christine smirked as she watched Becker try to defend himself, "looks like we still have our work cut out for us ... unless," she considered Becker and then looked at Danny for a moment and the back to Becker, "either of you would like to start talking, before things get really messy in here? Consider this your one warning for the day boys," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker gasped trying to catch his breath during the small break Christine had given. He looked over at Danny and met his gaze. He gave Danny a knowing look and shook his head as he then turned and looked Wilder squarely in the eyes. "No comment," Becker said firmly, "other than this... You both can sod off!" Danny hated himself in that moment, wanting nothing more than to keep Becker away from Christne and Wilder. But he also knew that they couldn't let them get their hands on the ARC and the rest of the team. It was them or everyone else, and there really was no debate there on who they were going to protect! |
![]() | "So be it," Christine smirked and nodded at Captain Wilder, "you may continue," "Yes ma'am," Wilder nodded and leaned over to pull Becker to his feet, as he bent down he laid a series of blows against Becker's weak leg, knowing full well what impact that was going to have on him. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker had tried to prepare himself for a range of possible attacks. But he hadn't expected Wilder to target his leg. He had managed to bit back most of the pain to that point, a muffled moan or gasp the only things escaping him. But with the hits to the leg, Becker cried out at the pain that shot through him, threatening to send him back to the floor in a heap. "Bastard!" Danny cried out as he stood to his feet and took a step toward Becker, only to be stopped by a warning look from Christine. |
Christine ![]() |
"You had your chance Quinn," Christine said sweetly, "this is the price that you will both pay for not giving me what I want," "Captain Wilder, when you're ready you may continue," Wilder reached out to hold onto Becker as he was nearly back on the floor, he knew exactly what he was doing and while he was stopping Becker from collapsing onto the floor, he aimed a few more well timed punches against Becker's leg to really make sure he felt the pain. |
Becker ![]() |
It was a desperation move but as Becker started to sink back toward the ground again, somehow through the pain, he looked at Wilder. and then with a sudden lunge towards him, Becker threw himself at Wilder, aiming his head for the man's stomach. He connected but Becker's vision had gone white and fuzzy from the pain and he didn't know how well he connected. He thought he still felt Wilder's grip on his arm but aside from that and the sound of his own sob of pain, Becker didn't know much else at that moment. |
![]() | Wilder should have expected Becker to put up a fight but he had underestimated Becker and that was a mistake that he would not be making again. Even though he was able to still keep his grip on Becker, the blow had landed right in the middle of his stomach and he doubled over for a moment and tried to get his breath bag. A slight smirk spread across his face, he was actually impressed and then he returned the punch in kind, aiming for Becker's stomach again. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker gasped as the air was driven out of him once again. He was doubled over, Wilders grip on him the only thing that kept him off the ground in that moment. Becker coughed and gagged on the bile that was rising up in this throat from all the hits to his stomach and ribs. He knew he had to get upright again. He was too vulnerable like that. His entire head and back were exposed to Wilder like that. But Becker was concentrating on breathing and trying to keep from being sick to do much of anything else just then. And knowing Christine was looking on and enjoying every second of it and also knowing Danny was seeing him that weak, just made it all the worse. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine was definitely enjoying this and she stayed close to Danny to make sure that he didn't think to get any ideas to try and assist Becker. Wilder kept that steady grip on Becker's shoulder as he repeatedly aimed several blows at Becker's chest and stomach, he was relentless in his punches and he made sure that there was no room for Becker to move so that he would get the full blow of each punch. |
Becker ![]() |
It finally was too much for Becker. Too many gut punches and hits. The bitter sour bile rose up in his throat one time too many and this time, he couldn't keep it down. Seconds later the contents of his stomach was on the floor at Wilder's feet. His entire body ached, it hurt to breathe, and Becker felt everything start to go fuzzy around the edges of his vision. |
![]() | "Pathetic," Wilder sneered and he let go of Becker and let him drop to the floor, "after everything I did for you boy, I should have left you back in that cave," and then he aimed a series of well timed kicks against Becker's stomach. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker had hit hard on the ground as he fell, not able to catch himself or break his fall at all. And as Wilder continued his onslaught, Becker was back in that cave, his captor beating him within an inch of his life, convincing him that he was as good as dead. Becker felt himself start to go in and out of consciousness as he cried out against every kick Wilder landed. And in a desperate attempt to get away Becker rolled over, trying to keep his back to Wilder.Becker had a feeling the kicks would continue but at least his stomach would be protected. |
Christine ![]() |
And continue kicking Wilder did, seeing Becker practically curled up on the floor made him seethe with rage and he kept kicking Becker's back, "such a waste of space ... to think of all that money and resources we used to rescue you," |
Danny ![]() |
Something inside Danny snapped at that moment. Seeing Becker curled up on the ground, not moving, and Wilder still going at him was too much. Danny wasn't going to let this happen any longer. "Stop it!" he yelled at Wilder. Danny looked at Christine. "Stop this, Christine. If... if you need someone to direct that anger at, Wilder can have me." Danny stared at the still form of Becker lying on the ground and he felt a desperate fear he had not felt in many, many years. He could let them keep doing this to Becker. |
![]() | "What do you think Captain Wilder?" Christine smirked as she looked from Danny to the still form of Captain Becker, "feel like breaking in someone new? I think we should leave Becker where he is ... don't want to completely break him on the first day," she added. Wilder seethed as he looked up from Becker and then at Danny, he gave one more kick to Becker's back and stalked towards Danny. "Finally a challenge," he nodded, "they teach you anything about fighting at the police academy boy?" |
Danny ![]() |
Danny breathed a small sigh of relief when Wilder left Becker and faced him. He looked the man up and down for a moment, his eye twitching slightly at the 'boy' insult thrown in there. "Aye, a good bit. Though I won't go easy on ya, grandpa. I mean you seem all tough and such, but against a man with his hands cuffed behind him? Seems pretty pathetic. I mean a five year old could have gotten in some lucky kicks in that case!" (sorry Becker, hopefully you were passed out enough not to hear that) "So how about you see how good you are in a fair fight!" Danny said as he took a step towards Wilder and let a fist fly, aiming for the side of his head. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine stepped back as the two men began to square off his other. This was working out better than she had been planned. "You clearly need to respect your betters," Wilder sneered as he dodged the fist aiming towards his head, "and I'm going to enjoy teaching you some manners," he began and then he didn't hold back, moving in quickly to target Danny's stomach and try to land as many blows as he could. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny smirked and started circling Wilder, keeping out of reach and managing to dodge most of the blows and hits that were aimed at him. Suddenly Danny shifted his step and moved the other way, and took a swing, landing a blow on Wilder's jaw. "That was for Becker!" he spat as he reared back and sent another punch towards Wilder's head. |
![]() | Wilder had not been expected such a fight from Danny and winced as the blow made contact with his jaw. "So you have some backbone, we should have been chasing you for a job here, such a shame you chose to throw your lot in with this pathetic group," he spat in Becker's direction. He managed to dodge the second punch and then swerved and aimed a punch directly at Danny's chest. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny cast a worried glance over at the still-unmoving form of Becker. And it was that momentary distraction that cost him. He tried to dodge the blow, but it landed squarely, the impact on his chest sending him staggering back a few steps, gasping for breath. "Lucky shot old man" Danny smirked as he straightened himself back up and watched Wilder trying to gauge what his next move would be. |
Christine ![]() |
"Oh I'm going to enjoy breaking you," Wilder sneered as he moved to punch Danny's jaw, feinted at the last minute and then with a low sweeping motion with his feet went to sweep Danny off his own feet so that he would lose his balance. |
Danny ![]() |
It had been a while since Danny had been in a hand-to-hand fight with someone who managed to last more than a few punches. He was a little rusty. So when Wilder threw the next punch, Danny leaned back to avoid the blow, but that put him off balance for a split second which was when Wilder made his move to knock his feet out from under him. Danny tried to recover but it was too late and he went falling back to the hard stone floor of the cell. He landed on his back with a thud, hitting his head as he did. The momentary confusion and the ait being driven out his lungs left him vulnerable for a brief moment. |
![]() | Wilder seized his chance and was on top of Danny before he even had a chance to recover and that was when he started to let the punches fly, barely pausing in between his punches and while it wasn't the same as taking it out on Becker, Danny really was the next best thing. "What's the matter Quinn, cat got your tongue?" he sneered as he threw another punch. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny tried to cover up the best he could, to block the blows as they fell. Wilder was deceptively strong and agile and had definitely been keeping up with his training and fitness, despite apparently being Christine's lap dog now. As he flailed to try and get Wilder off him, Danny saw Christine watching on, a delightfully wicked sneer on her face. Damnit, this wasn't good. Danny knew he had to get out of this quick or he'd not be in much better shape than Becker soon. Danny tried to kick up at Wilder and kick him off while still trying to block the worst of the blows. |
Christine ![]() |
The kick landed successfuly and Wilder found himself wincing at that blow and needed to double over in pain. He let out a hiss of pain, glaring at Danny while he tried to focus on recovering his breath and getting to his feet. "Didn't know you liked it so rough Quinn," Wilder sneered as watched Danny struggle to get to his feet. |
Danny ![]() |
"What can I say" Danny quipped as he staggered to his feet. "I'm a lover and a fighter!" It took longer than he had wanted to get back upright. It was hurting to take a full breath just thena nd his legs were still a bit wobbling from the kicks. It sent Danny a little off balance and he turned his back to Wilder for a split second as he got his balance back. |
![]() | "We'll see how much fight you have left in you once I'm through with you," Wilder smirked and noticing that Danny seemed a little off balance, he seized his opportunity and ran straight at Danny, aiming to push him back against the wall and pin him there. "Now now boys," Christine purred as she walked over, "I can't let you be having all the fun," |
Danny ![]() |
Danny groaned at the impact of Wilder slamming into him and cried out in pain as he slammed face-first into the wall. He tried to push himself up and away from the wall but Wilder had him held there fast and firm. Danny was forced to watch as Christine slinked towards them, that devilish grin on her face that made Danny's heart drop into his stomach. |
Christine ![]() |
"Not so tough are we now Mr. Quinn?" Christine purred and then, with Captain Wilder still holding him against the wall, she leaned in close, "I'm going to enjoy this," and then before Danny would have a chance to react she leaned in and kissed him. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny flinched as his eyes went wide for a moment in surprise at the kiss. He tried to pull away, but Wilder's hand on the back of his head kept him from getting too far. When Christine finally pulled away, a very satisfied and delighted smirk on her face, Danny looked at her in shock for a moment then a grin slowly spread over his face. "Not bad, I guess..." he said sounding a little bored. "But I've had a lot better really." |
![]() | Christine raised a hand and gave Danny a sharp slap across his cheek, "really now, looks like I'm really going to have to teach you some manners, put you in your place where you belong," she smirked at that, "I'm really going to enjoy breaking you," |
Danny ![]() |
"Don't break a nail or anything now" Danny said through gritted teeth. He heard what almost sounded like a snarl come from Wilder and felt him shift his weight so he was leaning almost his full body weight against Danny. He knew he was just egging them on, making it worse on himself in the long run. But it was a coping mechanism. It kinda always had been. |
Christine ![]() |
“I think I would be more worried about you Mr. Quinn,” Christine smirked and then she aimed a punch directly at Danny’s stomach. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny cried out in pain at the gut-punch, which just earned him a rough shove against the wall by Wilder. Through the tears that stung his eyes Danny tried to lift his head enough to see Becker, to try and see if he had woken up or moved at all. |
![]() | “Oh I’m afraid Captain Becker isn’t going to be coming to your aid this time Quinn,” Christine sneered as she started giving Danny a series of punches in his stomach, “no one is coming to help you, “ |
Danny ![]() |
For all his scruff, snark, and quips, Danny always considered himself to be somewhat of a gentleman. He had never hit a woman before and had never planned to... but at that moment, he was tempted to make the exception for Christine. Instead, as she let lose her punches, Danny tried to break free of Wilder's grasp by stomping on his foot as hard as he could. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder swore as Danny stomped on his foot, “you little…” and his grip loosened slightly as he doubled down in pain, Christine was slightly distracted as she looked over to see what was wrong. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny used that quick distraction to try and break free. He lurched to the side, trying to shove Christine back with his shoulder. As the same time, he started trying to headbutt Wilder. Cutter really would have been impressed if he had seen him! |
![]() | It was Christine's turn to swear as Danny shoved her out of the way and she had to grab onto the wall before she stumbled, Wilder had not expected the headbutt and it was his turn to let out a cry of pain and he completely let go of Danny for a moment as he clutched his head. And then he proceeded to let out a colourful stream of expletives for Danny as Danny quickly found out exactly what Wilder thought of him. |
Danny ![]() |
Now that he was free of them, Danny looked from Christine then to Wilder and raised an eyebrow at the colorful names he was getting called just then. His eyes then snapped over to the far side of the small room to where Becker was. Christine and Wilder might have expected him to run for the door and try to escape but the only thing on Danny's mind just then was making sure Becker was ok. He had moved so he was at least alive. That was a good thing. Danny made a bee-line for Becker and dropped to his knees beside him and gently reached out and gave him a small shake. "Becker? You ok? Becker! Hillary!" Ok yeah he was still knocked out, and Danny cursed under his breath as he looked over at Wilder and Christine. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder recovered from Danny's headbutt and stalked over to him, "you'll be joining him soon enough," he promised and then he aimed a punch squarely at Danny's jaw. |
Danny ![]() |
That hit was definitely the hardest Wilder had thrown so far. And it landed square on his jaw. For a split second Danny wondered if Wilder might have actually broken a couple fingers with the punch. In an instant he was staggering back. The next thing he knew Danny found himself dropping to one knee as everything was spinning. |
![]() | Wilder smirked as Danny dropped to his knee and he took his opportunity to throw several more punches before Danny got to his feet again, the first one was aimed at his jaw again and the second one was aimed at his chest. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny never made it back to his feet. The flurry of punches was too much. The final awing landed square on the side of his head. And the last thing Danny remembered was the sight of the stone floor racing towards him as he fell, his vision going dark before he even hit. |
Christine ![]() |
Christine shook her head as Danny lay sprawled on the ground unconscious, "oh well it was fun while it lasted, they're not going to be much fun while they're unconscious," "I don't know about that," Wilder sneered and then he aimed a few more well timed punches at Danny's stomach and then kicked him for good measure. "Come on Captain," Christine ordered, "I want you and your men to do another sweep of the facility, make sure James hasn't figured out where Captain Becker and Mr. Quinn have disappeared to," Wilder looked at the unconscious Danny in disgust, gave him one more kick and then left the room with Christine, who locked the door behind them leaving Danny and Becker unconscious on the floor. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny wasn't sure how long he was unconscious for, as he slowly became aware of his surroundings, he noticed that he was sprawled on the floor and everything hurt. He let out a moan, wishing that he could just go back to sleep where he wouldn't have to deal with the pain anymore. He tried to sit up and couldn't, the room was spinning to much and he had to lay down, he tried to get in a position where he could see Becker, "Hey Cap'n, you awake?" he managed to gasp out, wincing out much time had passed, "Hillary?" he tried again wondering if that would get a reaction. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker's steady breathing hitched a little at that name as he started to stir. The wave of pain hit him as he tried to open his eyes. "Danny? What are you?" Becker realized then he was on the ground and his head was killing him. |
![]() | "I knew that would get a reaction," Danny smirked and then groaned when another wave of pain hit him, his ribs were killing him, "welcome back to the land of the living ... as much as you can call this living right now, you missed a hell out of a show," Danny made no attempt to get up off the ground. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker slowly pushed himself up and looked at Danny. His mouth was dry and it tasted like something had died in there. As he tried to get his head to stop spinning he looked at Danny curiously. "What the hell did you do Danny?" He asked as he saw the bruises already forming on his face. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny closed his eyes for a moment, he didn't for one instant regret taking those blows for Becker, even if everything was hurting right now, "uh ... so the thing is Cap'n ... Wilder wasn't going to stop going after you, even when you were down for the count so I ... uh ...I said he could have me," he said quietly, wincing a little at the pain in his jaw. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker just stared at Danny for a moment in disbelief. On one hand he was of course touched. On the other hand he wanted to strangle him. "Danny... You...you did that? Took the blows for me?" |
![]() | "Of course I did," Danny opened his eyes as he looked over at Becker, he had still made no attempt to get off the floor, "I wasn't going to let Wilder keep kicking you while you were down, wasn't a fair fight ..." he winced as a wave of pain shot through him, "of course Christine decided watching from the sidelines wasn't enough and decided to get her licks in to," He really wished he could forget about the taste of her lips on his and he shivered at that memory. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker flet a range of emotions, some quite conflicting, in the span of a few seconds there as he realized what Danny had done for him. He managed to push himself into a half-sitting position and tried to crawl over toward Danny. "You didn't have to do that, Danny" he said, wincing at the movement a bit. "Not that I'm not grateful... cuz I am, but ya know.." his voice trailed off as he tried to see how bad Danny really was after that. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny was quiet for a moment and he tried to sit up but found that he couldn't just yet, the pain was too overwhelming, he was pretty sure at least a couple of his ribs were broken, "I had to Becker," he said quietly, "Wilder ... I don't think he would have stopped, I couldn't let him just ... " his voice trailed off, "he really lost it," he admitted. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker cursed under his breath and closed his eyes. He remembered how angry Wilder had been and sighed. "Doesn't surprise me really. Captain Wilder's temper was legendary at Whitehall... I'm... sorry he did that... I thought... Thought i knew the man. Guessing I didn't." Becker had managed to drag himself over to Danny though the pain courseing through his body was making him dizzy. |
![]() | Danny looked over at Becker in concern, "I knew what I was getting into, I guess I was hoping he would tire of me eventually ... guess not," he tried to shift into a sitting position so he could look at Becker properly, "how are you holding up?" he asked softly, even though he could guess that Becker probably felt like he did right then. |
Becker ![]() |
"I feel like that damned t rex stepped on me...twice" Becker said with a small laugh that instantly made him regret it. His stomach and ribs ached and he didn't need to look in a mirror to know he was likely getting one hell of a shiner, compliment of Wilder. He was just glad Christine, for whatever reason, had undone the handcuffs when they had left. "Arms are sore as hell but kinda expected that.... How about you?" he asked, the concern evident in his eyes. |
Danny ![]() |
"Pretty much how I feel," Danny sighed, rubbing his jaw that he knew was going to be quite bruised, "should be glad they didn't break my jaw, the way they were going ... Christine's stronger then she looks," he sighed, "and I think I have a couple of broken ribs," he grimaced. "We really need to get out of here, I don't think we're going to last a few more days ... we need to warn the ARC, that's she's going to arrest Nick and Connor," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded. He knew that each time Wilder and Christine came back they were going to be going at them hardee than ever. They were running out of time. Slowly Becker tried to pull himself up, using the wall to support himself. But his leg had other ideas just then and a spasm sent him sliding back down to the ground. "It's... It's fine..." he said with a hiss of pain. "I can walk it off..." |
![]() | "I don't think you should be walking at all Cap'n," Danny said softly, watching in concern as Becker slid back down to the ground, he tried to crawl into a sitting position, "it's ... we'll ... we'll figure something out," he bit back a scream as he slowly managed to get himself sitting upright. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded, not able to say anything as he bit his lip against the pain. He had no idea how they were gonna get out, even if they could escape from Christine and Wilder. Becker tried to push that out of his mind. they had to stay positive, find a way to get out, and then they could figure out the rest as they went. Becker sat with his back against the wall, head back and eyes stuff as he tried to catch his breath and push through the waves of pain. The suddenly something did break through that fog and he opened his eyes as he looked down at his hand. He had felt something. Something small and cold to the touch. Picking it up, Becker stared at it and a huge grin spread over his face. "Danny!" he said in a hushed voice as he held it out for him to see. "I think I might... have just found our ticket out of here!" |
Danny ![]() |
For the first time since they'd been captured Danny was beginning to feel some hope that they were going to get out of here, "Oh that is brilliant," he said, wincing at the movement against his ribs, "Christine must have lost it when I pushed her out of the way, think you'll be able to use that it to lock pick our way out of here?" |
Becker ![]() |
Becker smiled, feeling hopeful and also feeling better seeing Danny smile a little too. "I should be able to. Going to give it my damnedest anyways. I should be able to..." Becker was cut off as a noise outside the door alerted him that they were about to have company. With a small panicked look at Danny he slipped the bobby pin into his pocket and leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes, knowing what was waiting for them when that door opened. |
![]() | After several sweeps of the facility and another check on the artefact to see if anything had changed in a few hours, Christine and Captain soon returned to the cell. "Oh good, you're both awake," she smiled sweetly, "I hope you're both well rested, we have another fun session planned for you boys, don't we Captain Wilder?" "Yes ma'am," came the stoic reply, Captain Wilder had seemed to have regained his temper but he was still glaring at Becker and Danny as he stared at them. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker felt his entire body run cold as Wilder glared at him and he couldn't help the small shiver that ran through him. Whatever they were planning, Becker knew he and Danny where in no way ready for it, but he also knew they were going to do their damnedest to push through. They had to- Connor and Cutter were counting on them. |
Christine ![]() |
"What's the matter Captain Becker, Mr. Quinn nothing to say at all?" Christine smirked as she nodded at Captain Wilder to prepare himself for the next round and he walked over to stand near Becker, "such a shame, especially with how chatty Mr. Quinn was earlier, it was very ... intimate," she drawled out the word as she stared hungrily at Danny. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny glared at Christine, feeling like he was going to be sick just then. "Oh sod off" he said, trying to hide the wince of pain as he struggled to get more upright. While Danny's attention was on Christine, Becker's eyes followed Wilder and he felt a twinge of uncertainty as he watched him 'prepare' as Christine had instructed. Whatever he had in mind, Becker knew it was not going to be good. |
![]() | "Oh good I was afraid I had actually completely broken you," Christine purred sweetly, "you still have some fight left in you, I like that," Then she looked between Danny and Becker, "you boys really should have taken my offer, you will be screaming at me for mercy by the time we're through with you," she smirked. "Captain Wilder, I don't think your pupil has learnt his lesson yet, I think he needs to be taught another one," "Yes ma'am," Wilder smirked and then to get started he aimed a punch directly at Becker's jaw. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker tried to brace for the hit he knew was coming. He felt Wilder drag him to his feet, and hold him there before he let his fist fly. At this point just staying conscious was taking most of his effort and Becker couldn't bite back the cry of pain as Wilder's fist connected with his already bruised and swollen jaw. Becker hated giving him the satisfaction of hearing him cry out in pain, even as a string of his own curses followed the punch. |
Christine ![]() |
"I thought I trained you better than this boy," Wilder snarled and then while holding onto Becker, he brought his knee up to knee him in the stomach and then aimed a punch at the side of Becker's head, "you're weak and pathetic and for what... you won't be able to protect the traitors from what's coming to them, I'll tell you what ... if you're still alive by the time they're brought in ... I'll let you watch, I'm looking forward to breaking them," he spat. |
Danny ![]() |
"You bastard!" Danny yelled as he watched Wilder's assault on Becker and heard the vile taunts and insults. The worst thing was.... Danny was fairly sure Wilder wasn't exaggerating with any of it. Becker let out a choked sob as he heard Wilder's threat against Cutter and Connor and that not at all subtle threat against his own life. Slowly Becker lifted his head and looked at Wilder. "This .... isn't how... men of honor are supposed... to act." Becker knew he was likely just making things worse on himself but at that point the logical side of his brain was petty well mush. "You were better than this... once." |
![]() | Wilder sneered, "appealing to my better nature are we boy, spending time with those traitors have made you gone soft," he shook his head as he put all of his weight onto to Becker and in particular he focused on putting the weight on his shoulder again, "you're no better than them, such a pity they let the old punishments die out for being a traitor but well ... I can still have my fun in here," and then while he was still putting his pressure onto Becker's shoulder, he brought he knee up and kneed Becker in the stomach again. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker winced as another cry of pain escaped his lips. And he trembled hearing the snicker og pleasure that escaped his lips as he tightened his grip. Wilder knew just where to put the pressure to cause the most damage and inflict the most pain. And with the combination of his hands and the force of his knee, Becker felt a searing pain shoot through his arm. The cry of pain ended with a choked sob. Everything hurt and with a horrified moment of realization Becker found himself sobbing against the pain. |
Christine ![]() |
"Such a shame really," Christine smirked as she watched, "I would have thought Captain Becker would have put up more of a fight," Wilder kept applying that pressure on Becker's arm, knowing just how much of a weak point that was for him, "not so tough are you now boy? You should have taken the job offer but now I get to break you til there's nothing left," and then he put all of his weight onto Becker's shoulder. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker tried to say something but all ability to speak died on his lips. Wilder's hands shifted, the pressure intensifying as he did. Then Becker heard it, the sickening sounds of something going pop in his shoulder. His legs gave out as he sank to the floor, which only increased the pressure and pain Wilder was causing. |
![]() | And Wilder smiled when he heard that little pop, satisfied he let go of Becker’s shoulders and then as he slid to the floor, he kicked him in the stomach and then stomped on his leg. “Like I said, pathetic,” he growled. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny watched as Becker collapsed to the floor. He knew what had likely happened. He had had his share of times putting someone in a hold and them struggling too much and ending up dislocating their shoulder during the struggle. And as he watched Wilder once again decent on Becker like that, something snapped inside him. With an angry yell Danny, against all logical judgment at that moment, charged at Wilder, throwing his full weight into the man. He had no clue what he was going to do after that, but all Danny knew was he was getting Wilder off Becker. Danny's impact hit Wilder in the back, sending them both crashing to the floor at Christine's feet in a tangled flurry of punches and kicks as all the anger Danny felt finally spilled over. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder blinked in surprise at that, “I wouldn’t feel too left out Quinn,” he spat as he did his best to position himself on the floor and tried to block as many of Danny’s blows as he could, “I have something very special lined up for you, you’re going to need your strength for that,” |
Danny ![]() |
Danny barely even registered what Wilder was saying. All he saw was red as the anger took hold and he left the blows fly. He was a little sloppy, letting his emotions get in the way of his better judgment and training. As he sent one punch flying at Wilder's face he looked over at Becker and saw him laying on the floor gasping in pain, clutching his arm. Danny turned and looked at Christine and glared and then turned his attention back to Wilder. "Don't touch him!" he spat out as he put his hands around Wilder's neck. "Don't touch him again!" |
![]() | It took a bit more struggling than Wilder would have realised to be able to get in a position, where he could fight back but even with Danny’s hands around his neck, he finally was able to aim a punch at his jaw. “No …I think I’ve had my fun with Hillary for now,” he sneered, “especially when you’ve got so much fight left in you Quinn, you’ll be singing a different tune in a couple of hours,” |
Danny ![]() |
The punch landed square on his jaw, sending him back, forcing Danny to release his choke hold. Even the adrenaline rushing through him wasn't enough to push through all of it forever. The pain in his ribs flared up, causing him to wince and gasp for breath as he glared up at Wilder. |
Christine ![]() |
“That’s what I thought Quinn,” Wilder sneered as he scrambled to get to his feet, trying to ignore the throbbing in his neck, “even though I’d give that a solid B for effort, you were sloppy though,” |
Christine ![]() |
"Don't insult me with your compliments, you traitor," Danny practically snarled as he staggered to his feet, making sure to keep himself between Wilder and Becker. His eyes darted over to Christine to make sure she wasn't making a move towards Becker either. He knew he didn't stand a chance, not after what he had already been through. But there was some comfort in knowing Wilder hadn't gotten away totally scot-free. Danny gave a proud smirk as he saw the red marks already forming on Wilder's throat. "Sloppy but effective eh?" |
![]() | Christine wasn't actually paying attention to Becker for once, she was much more intrigued by the confrontation with Danny and Wilder. "I'm not the one who associates with known traitors," Wilder spat, "everything I do, I do for the security of my country, which needs people like Christine in charge and not the fool we currently have for a Defense Minister," |
Danny ![]() |
Danny glared at Wilder. "Id rather be associated with Nick and Connor and Becker any day than with you lot!" Not a hard choice to make really!" |
Christine ![]() |
"You're barking up the wrong tree," Wilder scoffed, "you'll regret the day you ever chose to side with weaklings ..." he shot a glare to Becker on the floor, "or traitors, I'm going to make sure that it's a lesson you'll learn slowly and painfully," |
Danny ![]() |
Danny heard Becker say something from where he was laying on the ground but he couldn't make it out. He just glared at Wilder, still making sure to keep himself between Wilder and Becker. He didn't trust the man half as far as he could throw him. "I've always been told I was a slow learner" Danny quipped as he glared at Wilder, trying to prepare himself for whatever twisted thing he had in mind to do next. |
![]() | "Oh this will be one lesson you'll never forget," Wilder sneered as he straightened up and rubbed his neck, trying not to give away just how much Danny had actually hurt him but he couldn't help but wince a little, "you'll be begging me for mercy once I'm through with you," "Shall we go and get prepared?" Christine smirked as she glanced at Becker and Danny, "I think Mr. Quinn needs to preserve all of his strength for what's coming next," "With pleasure, I'm looking forward to this," and with that Christine and Wilder left Becker and Danny alone in the cell again. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny watched the two walk out, making sure they were gone and hesitating a moment to make sure they weren't going to suddenly pop back in. When was sure it was safe he made a bee-line for Becker, dropping to his knees beside him. |
Danny ![]() |
"Becker?" Danny knelt down beside him, "are you still with Cap'n?" he knew better than to ask if he was okay because Captain Becker was very clearly not okay, he looked at Becker's shoulder worryingly, wincing at his shoulder that was clearly out of its socket, |
Becker ![]() |
Becker looked up at Danny, his face tight with the pain as he had managed to get himself somewhat propped up against the wall. "Bastard... dislocated my shoulder..." Becker hissed as he cradled his arm against his chest, trying not to move it. Becker's face was pale and was covered in a cold sweat. |
![]() | "I'm sorry," Danny said softly, "he shouldn't have done that," he thought for a moment and then he ripped off the end of his shirt and folded it up, then very carefully he began to apply it to Becker's face so he could try and mop up some of the sweat, "we're going to need to put that back in," he nodded at Becker's shoulder. |
Becker ![]() |
"Y-yeah... I know" Becker groaned as he closed his eyes. "You've... done it before right?" He had set his share of dislocated shoulders before but it was a whole other task to try and do it on yourself and he knew he wasn't up to the task. |
Danny ![]() |
"Uh ... that would be a no Cap'n," Danny said apologetically, knowing just how much this was going to hurt for Becker, "but I've been to enough first aid courses that I know how it's done and I've witnessed a few of them ... we're going to be fine," He hoped. |
Becker ![]() |
"Wonderful...." Becker said with a grimace as he laid his head back against the wall. He took a slow deep breath, trying to push back the pain. He knew this had to be done. If they didn't he could likely lose the use of his arm for good. "Alright... how... you want to do this?" |
![]() | "Well I know lying down is normally the best option for this, did you want to try lying back down or would you prefer it I worked at it from this angle?" Danny said gently, he wanted to this to be as a quick and painless for Becker so he would accommodate as best he could for this. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded slowly. "Down is fine. Just... help me would ya?" He had only tried to get upright so he wasn't totally vulnerable to Christine and Wilder. Becker clenched his jaw and started to move away from the wall and lay back down. He was not looking forward to this at all. |
Danny ![]() |
"Of course," Danny nodded and then put his hand on Becker's back to help him slide down, he was careful to not touch his shoulder as he did because he didn't want to cause any additional pain, "how's this?" he asked softly. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker bit his lip as he slid down and laid back. his head was swimming from the pain but he tried to hide it the best he could. "It's... fine Danny" he said, managing a small smile as he nodded. "Don't... happen to have any whiskey or... something else strong on ya.. do ya?" Yes, this was Becker trying to make a joke- both to distract himself and to try and help Danny relax a little. |
![]() | "Sorry Cap'n, fresh out of whiskey ... could do with a bottle myself at this point," he said with a grin as he took a deep breath and got his hands ready to try and steady himself so he could do this as quickly as possible, "I think I got a bottle stashed in one of my hideouts ... if we manage to get out of this, you can have the whole bottle," he promised, "so you think you're ready to do this Cap'n ... on the count of 3 ... 1 ... 2....3" he really hoped Becker was nice and distracted because he knew this was going to hurt a lot. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker gave a dry laugh at that as he closed his eyes. He was about to say something when the words died on his tongue as Danny made the move and popped his shoulder back into place. The pain was like nothing he had ever felt before as it shot through his entire body. His breath caught in his chest for a moment and when he was finally able to draw in a breath he looked up at Danny eyes wide from the pain. "You son of a bitch..." Becker said through clenched teeth as a string of other less than savory and flattering words fell from his lips. Sorry Danny. Nothing personal. |
Danny ![]() |
It seemed to be Danny's day for being called unflattering names but this time round he was more than willing to take whatever names Becker wanted to call him, it was the leas the could do for having to put Becker's shoulder in place. After Danny let Becker swear at him for a while, he merely raised an eyebrow and smirked a bit, "you kiss your mother with that mouth?" Sorry Becker, he really couldn't resist. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker let out a strangled laugh as he looked at Danny. God his shoulder and arm hurt but he knew it would be better now that it was back in place. For a moment Becker laid there, arm resting over his chest as he tried to focus on his breathing. After a little bit he opened his eyes and looked up at Danny and gave a small smile. "Th-thanks, Danny" he managed weakly. |
![]() | "You're welcome Cap'n, now let's see about getting you in some kind of sling ... at least until we can get you a proper one," he had a quick look around the cell and realised that there was really only one option they had, "wait a second ..." and then he very carefully took off his own shirt, he was still feeling the impact of his own beating earlier so he couldn't move as quickly as he would have liked. "Here let's use my shirt for the sling," he said gently. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded and as Danny worked on getting his shirt off, Becker slowly tried to get back into a semi upright position. He hated being so helpless and weak. Maybe Wilder had been right... he was just a let down to the team and a burden rather than an asset. Becker closed his eyes and tried to push those thoughts down as he worked to help Danny with his arm the best he could. |
Danny ![]() |
It took a little bit longer than he would have liked but somehow he had managed to turn his shirt into a sling and had gently secured it around Becker's shoulder. "There we go Cap'n, I'm afraid it'll have to do til we can get your shoulder looked at by one of the medical staff at the ARC," he looked back towards the door, "I think after today we really need to consider about making a break for it," he sighed, "do you think you'd be up to lock picking?" he looked at Becker's shoulder worriedly. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded, agreeing with that sentiment. He looked at the door and then at his arm in the makeshift sling. "I should be fine... will make it work" he said, trying to cling to that one bit of hope that they had that they could get out of this somehow. "Are... you going to be ok to wait?" Becker asked, the concern on his face evident. He had heard the threats Wilder had made. "I.... it should be almost night, and it... would be best to wait for darkness to help us get away, but..." he wasn't going to say it out loud, but Becker was worried about what Wilder was going to do and what he had planned for Danny. |
![]() | Danny bit his lip but nodded, "I'll be okay," he said softly, wishing he felt more confident then he felt, "I mean it's probably all talk right? Just to get us riled up and they'll do the same old, same old and we can wait a few more hours before we try and make a break for it and get us the hell away from this place," |
Becker ![]() |
"I... I hope you're right..." Becker said softly as he looked at Danny with concern. He closed his eyes and tried to push down the wave of pain that was washing over him again. And as he did, whether subconscious or not, Becker shifted slightly so he was leaning against Danny's shoulder as he sat there next to him. They'd get out of here soon... they had to! They had to warn Cutter and Connor. |
Danny ![]() |
"I hope so too," Danny admitted as he shifted so Becker could lean against him more comfortably, "I really, really hope so," he tried to not let on just how terrified he was of Captain Wilder and what he was capable of but he had to focus on getting him and Becker out of there and back to the ARC, they had to get out of there. "Wonderful team leader I'm turning out to be huh Cap'n?" he said bitterly, "not even on the job two weeks and I get us captured in a government black site," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker leaned a little more against Danny, grateful for the support just then. "You're a good leader Quinn... we both just... messed up this time" Becker said softly. "It'll be fine once we get out." |
![]() | "I hope so," Danny said softly, wishing he felt more confident, "god, Lester's probably have a coronary right now if he's figured out where we've got off to ... " he sighed, wincing as the movement hurt his ribs, "I'm not looking forward to that when we get out of here," He had been read the riot act many, many times over his career but even after only working with Lester for a short time, that man could be rather scary when he started yelling. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded and winced slightly at the thought of one of Lester's tirades. Two of his key team members missing, Christine with the upper hand, the anomalies still happening, and Lester trying ti manage it all... yeah he was probably pacing his office like a caged animal right about now. "Well, we'd be getting it together so... splitting his focus might make it a little better?" Becker shifted so he could look at Danny as he spoke. "I mean, I've done a bang-up job at keeping you and the rest oft he team safe from Christine so far so..." Becker gave a small sigh as he closed his eyes and leaned against Danny again, trying not to lean too heavily. "Thank you... Danny." Becker was too tired to say it all- that he was thankful that Danny had stepped in and saved him from Wilder. That he knew there was a good chance he wouldn't be there just then if Danny hadn't taken the blows for him. Becker just hoped Danny understood. |
Danny ![]() |
"Team effort, I like that," Danny grinned and then his smile softened, "you're welcome Becker," he said quietly. He knew they had to get out of this soon, he wasn't sure how much more either of them could take right now, it was becoming very clear that Christine and Wilder didn't even care about keeping them alive. Just then he could hear footsteps and he froze, the door opening and Christine stepped in and then Wilder and a group of soldiers, carrying what looked like Kendo sticks. His face went extremely pale, it didn't take him long at all to work to work out what Wilder had planned. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker lifted his head and looked at Christine and then to Wilder and he couldn't help the shiver that ran through him, seeing them again. He knew he and Danny were on borrowed time the longer they stayed there... and what Wilder seemed to have in mind this time... Becker wasn't sure even Danny would be able to stand against him. He knew what Wilder was capable of with a weapon like that in his hands. |
Christine ![]() |
"Hello boys," Christine cooed softly as she took in the state of Becker and Danny on the floor, "well I see you got your shirt off Mr. Quinn," she smirked as she very deliberately noticed Danny's shirtless form. "Well that makes my job easier," Wilder snorted, "what a pathetic lot you are," his eyes flickered over to Becker and the makeshift sling he was wearing. "You," he pointed at Danny, "get to your feet," he demanded. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker looked up at Wilder, meeting his gaze fully for the first time as he sat up, still keeping himself close to Danny. "You don't have to do this... Joseph... please. You are better than this... better than her" he said with a nod towards Christine. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder stared at Becker, the retort he had planned dying on his lips as for the first time since he had started working with Christine, he hesitated. "Pleading won't do you any good," he said softly and fully aware of Christine's gaze boring into him, as he took one of the kendo sticks from the soldier, "it's much too late for that, you had your chance," and with that he swung the kendo stick in Becker's direction. |
![]() | Becker felt his heart drop, he knew it was hopeless and now with that last desperate attempt foiled, Becker knew they had no chance of getting out without more from Wilder. Becker wanted to cower away to hide and just be done with it all, but he knew what was coming and as that blow fell Becker shifted to take the hit, trying to save Danny at least a little of the pain. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder sneered as Becker shifted to take some of that blow, "I wouldn't be so eager to take those blows yet Captain," he growled, "tell you what I'll save some of the blows for you once I'm done with Quinn," "Now, Quinn get to your feet, let's see what you're truly made of," |
Danny ![]() |
Danny couldn't help but flinch as the blow fell, the sound of the kendo stick hitting into Becker's shoulder. Danny glared up at Wilder and knowing there was no point in delaying the inevitable, shifted Becker and started to stand. "Stand down Becker" Danny said softly. "That's an order." And with that Danny stood and faced Wilder, trying not to let any of the fear or pain shown as he did. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder smirked as he made a motion for two of the soldiers to stand either side of Danny to keep him in place and then he began to aim a flurry of swings in the direction of Danny's stomach and chest. |
![]() | Danny had been on the receiving end a number of beat downs in his time, but this was on a new level. Danny bit his lip hard against the initial pain as he gasped with each strike as it hit. And while he didn't want Wilder's attention directed at Becker more than it already was, he also wasn't going to make it easy on him. As he struggled with the guards and tried instinctually to move from the blows he heard the cruel laughs coming from Wilder, though he couldn't bring himself to look at him. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder merely laughed at Danny's attempts to try and struggle and then he decided to start aiming for Danny's shoulders and legs. "word of advice It would hurt a lot less if you didn't struggle," Wilder sneered, "even though its more fun for me," |
Danny ![]() |
The strikes to the back of his legs were what finally broke Danny down enough that he couldn't bite back the painful cries anymore. Danny lifted his gaze at Wilder even as his legs started to shake under the blows. "Go to hell.. Wilder" he spat out between gasping breaths as he continued to struggle against the guards holding him in place. |
Christine ![]() |
"I think he still needs to be taught a lesson," Christine smirked as she took one of the kendo sticks from one of the soldiers standing guard, "I don't think it's quite sunk in yet," and then she aimed the kendo stick directly at his back. Wilder sneered as he aimed blows at Danny's stomach and legs, "you've got some fight in you I'll give you that, let's see how long you last," |
![]() | With both of them going at him Danny knew he wasn't going to last long. He also knew, in the back of his mind, that if he just let himself fall, let himself fall into that peaceful blackness, it would be done and he wouldn't feel a thing. But Danny knew he couldn't do that... Becker would be a prime target for Wilder and Christine if he did. Danny blinked back at the pain, the gasps of pain falling one into another as the blows continued to fall hard and fast. Finally Danny's legs gave out and he sank to his knees, the guard holding him up for a moment before letting him drop, keeping his arms stretched out fully as Wilder and Christine continued. |
Christine ![]() |
"Not so tough are we Quinn?" Wilder sneered as he kept the blows going along Danny's back and arms, Christine going for his legs. "What a disappointment, I thought you were going to surprise me Quinn ... only surprise you've given me is that you've even managed to be a huge disappointment, you know ... you're not worthy of being a team leader, you should never have been given the ARC leadership," |
Danny ![]() |
"Disappointment.... in your eyes... I consider that... a compliment Wilder" Danny said with as much grit as he could muster, though his voice was strained and weak. Everything hurt and his head was starting to spin from the pain. Every breath hurt and despite his best efforts Danny couldn't keep the tears from falling as a pained sob escaped him after one of the hits landed square on the back of his neck. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder growled and he kept up those blows, losing what little self control at that point and he hadn't even registered that Christine had stopped hitting Danny. He just wanted to inflict as much damage on Danny as he could, not caring at all by this point that Danny was on the floor unable to even try and defend himself. |
![]() | Eventually, the blows all started to run together, the pain constant and overwhelming. With the last of his strength, Danny lifted his head and glared up at Wilder. He opened his mouth to say something but no words came out as the blackness at the edge of his vision grew and eventually overtook him and he slumped forward, the guards being the only thing keeping him up at that point. |
Christine ![]() |
Even though Danny had passed out that didn't stop Wilder from getting in further blows, he kept aiming for Danny's legs and stomaches, he didn't care at this point ... he just wanted to keep going, all that anger and frustration he felt at Danny and Becker spilling out. He let out a roar of anger as he struck a blow near Danny's head. |
Becker ![]() |
"Stop it! Wilder stop it!" Becker yelled as he struggled to get to his feet, trying desperately to get to Danny. He looked at Danny, his limp form hanging between the two guards and then to Christine and finally back Wilder. "Captain..." he cried out "stop it!" |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder stopped his blows, taking a moment to collect himself, he was still seething with rage and he wanted to take it out on someone and he looked at Danny's limp form and then Becker trying to reach him and before he realised what he was doing, he begun to swing the kendo stick wildly at Becker, |
![]() | Becker had managed to make it to his feet just as Wilder started swinging the kendo stick. Becker tried to dodge, but he was less than quick and agile in his current state and the swing hit him square against his bad arm. The pain was instantaneous and he dropped to his knees. "Joseph..." Becker gasped as he looked up at Wilder as he raised the kendo stick again, ready to bring it down."Please….” |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder didn't even register Becker's pleas, as he kept swinging those blows around. "Okay Captain Wilder," Christine said smoothly as she started to realise that this wasn't going to end well and for all her talk she didn't actually want Becker and Danny dead, well at least not yet anyway ..."I think you've made your point, Captain?" Wilder wasn't listening, he kept aiming his kendo stick at Becker. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker didn’t stay upright for long and by the second swing connecting he was on his back staring up at Wilder, trying to block the blows with his one arm. There was no point trying to reason with the man. all he could do was hope he could hold on long enough for Wilder to snap out of it or get tired. |
Christine ![]() |
Wilder let out another roar and raised his arms again to strike down more blows against Becker but Christine reached out a tentative hand on his shoulder and he dropped the kendo stick. “That’s enough Captain,” Christine said softly, “we need them alive, we can leave now,” Wilder took a deep breath and then dropped the kendo stick and without another word stormed out of the cell. Christine nodded to the soldiers in the room and they left, she stared back at Becker and then Danny and then left the room. |
![]() | Becker watched as Wilder finally stopped, dropped the kendo stick, and stormed out. He barely dared to breathe until he watched Christine follow with the guards and the door close behind them. Only then did he let his head fall back to the floor and only then did he close his eyes. He didn't know if he had passed out or not and if he did he had no idea how long he was out. All he knew was it was the full body shivers that made his eyes snap open as he gasped against the waves of pain. "Danny?" he called up trying to turn his head to see Danny. "Danny! Quinn!" he yelled, suddenly realizing how raw and strained his own voice sounded just then. "Come on Danny... don't give up on me now..." |
Danny ![]() |
Danny wasn't aware of how much time had passed since he had finally passed out from the beating, everything hurt ... his head was spinning and he didn't want to open his eyes, if he stayed completely still and didn't open his eyes ... maybe the pain would stop. He could hear Becker talking but he didn't want to move, he just let out a moan of pain instead. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker bit back the pain as he moved himself closer to Danny. The marks on Danny's skin were already angry looking and Danny felt the anger against Christine, and Wilder especially, rise up inside him. Becker looked to the door and then back at Danny and put his hand gently on his shoulder, taking care not to touch any of the welts tha were forming there. "Rest Danny. I... I'm going to get us out of here" he said softly. And with a cry of pain he tried to bite back, Becker stood and stumbled towards the door. As he fished the bobby pin out of his pocket he leaned against the door frame and tried to get his hands to stop shaking. |
![]() | Danny whimpered, wishing everything would stop hurting ... he tried to move ... to lift his head up but he couldn't. "Becker ..." he managed get out, "is ... it going to work?" he said softly from where he was sprawled out on the floor. He then wondered what would happen if Becker could get the door open ... how were they both going to walk out of there? Before he could stop himself he let out a sob of pain. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker didn't say anything at first. He was focused on the lock and trying to get it open. He glanced over at Danny when he heard the sob and he bit his lip. He should have pushed more to get Christine and Wilder to let Danny go. He was the one Wilder was angry at, not Danny, but Danny had taken blows for him repeatedly.... Becker closed his eyes and tried to calm down and focus on the task at hand. "It's going to work Danny..." he said softly. It had to work. |
Danny ![]() |
"Should have listened to your advice Cap'n," Danny moaned weakly as he slowly opened his eyes to look over at Becker, "should have tried to make a break for it earlier ... I ... I think I'm going to slow us down," he gasped out, wincing as a wave of pain shot through him. |
Becker ![]() |
"None of that Quinn" Becker said through gritted teeth. "We're both getting out of here. Now." Becker turned his attention back to the lock, muttering under his breath as he kept working at it. He shifted his position, sliding his arm out of the sling so he could get a better angle at the lock. Finally, when he thought his hands were going to go numb from the pain, he heard it click. A small mechanical click. But that sound was music to his ears as he turned the knob and found it turned easily in his hand. "Danny...." he said as he looked over, tears starting to form in his eyes. "It... it worked Danny..." |
![]() | Danny let out another sob at that but it was more of relief than of pain, "it worked ..." he repeated, "we can get out of here," he trembled and then winced at the pain. Now he just had to figure how the hell he was going to stand up and get them out of here before Christine and Wilder came back. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker leaned against the door for a minute, trying to get the trembling under control before making his way back to Danny. "Come on...up we go" he said gently as he knelt down and tried to slip his good arm around Danny and help him up. "We're getting out of here... it's over Danny... we're getting out of here" Becker said, through clenched jaws as he tried to fight back the waves of pain hitting him with each breath, They both were in bad shape. It was going to take a miracle for them to get out of there.... but they had to try. |
Danny ![]() |
"You do not have to tell me twice," Danny groaned as he leaned heavily against Becker and somehow, he managed to slowly get to his feet. He nearly doubled over again but he managed to stay upright. "Okay, so what's the plan here Cap'n? Do you remember the way out?" through the pain, he remembered something about Becker recognising the layout of where they were. |
Becker ![]() |
"I.... I think so" Becker said as he hefted Danny up and closed his eyes, trying to regain his balance as they started walking towards the door slowly. "We're getting out of here Danny..." Becker looked at Danny and nodded towards the door. "We're getting out of here alright? Remember that cache of yours? We got a bottle of whiskey waiting for us" he said with a small painful smirk. |
![]() | Danny laughed and then winced at that movement as another wave of pain shot through him, "oh yes that wonderful, wonderful whiskey ... it will be the best whiskey we ever have," he sighed as he thought about everything that was in his cache, "I never thought just how useful those things were going to be, I just thought it was me being over paranoid," he slowly forced himself to keep walking, however much it hurt ... they had to get out of here, they weren't going to last another day in this cell. |
Becker ![]() |
"God bless the paranoid copper's mind" Becker said as they finally made it through the door way. He hesitated a moment looking to the left then the right, and then started them down towards the left. He really, really hoped he was remembering this right through all of the pain. "We're getting out of here Danny... we're getting out of here." |
Danny ![]() |
Danny let out a weak laugh as he leaned against Becker, it was a struggle to stand upright but he had to keep going, “we got out of that cell,” he said weakly, “now we just have to find our way out before Christine and Wilder notice we’re gone,” |
Becker ![]() |
"And we will get there... Christine and Wilder... they wont hurt us anymore" Becker said, as much to encourage Danny as himself. He slowed down their already slow pace as they came to a section of the hallway where several doors lined the corridor. "Alright, take it nice and slow and quiet, we'll get past these and then we should be just a little ways further till the main hallway to the exit." |
![]() | Danny nodded, doing his best to try and stay quiet but he couldn’t help but look at the doors curiously as they began to walk by them, “where…where do you think this artefact of there’s would be?” he asked softly. |
Becker ![]() |
"Probably in one of these rooms. These two hallways were the main ones for the floor" Becker said as too stopped to take a peek into the first room. The door was closed and he took a step closer to try and peer through the small window in the door. "Would help if we knew what it looked like," he added with a dry laugh. |
Danny ![]() |
“You’d think they might have described it to us so we could say whether we knew what it was,” Danny said dryly, “I guess it must look pretty ancient right? I mean if it’s an artefact?” |
Becker ![]() |
"Right, something old... ancient looking... definitely not some new fangle tech so it should stand out among all the other stuff..." Becker moved them on to the next room, which had the door open ajar. "Just a quick peak in here..." he said as he stuck his head in. |
![]() | “Anything?” Danny asked hopefully as he nervously kept a lookout in case any guards saw them or worse Christine and Wilder had realised they’d escaped. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker slowly let go of Danny, letting him lean against the door frame as he walked into the room. On the table was something that definitely looked out of place among all the tech and lab equipment. "Danny... I think... I think we might have found it..." Becker stood looking down at the very old and weathered-looking object and slowly picked it up off the table. It was lighter than he was expecting as he had it in his hand for a moment. "Check it out" he said handing it over to Danny as he made his way to the door again. |
Danny ![]() |
"This has to be it," Danny said softly as he took the artefact from Becker and carefully held it in his hands, he couldn't move to much since his ribs were still, so one hand was holding onto his ribs and the other artefact, "I wonder what it actually does, it must be pretty significant for Christine to go to all this fuss ..." |
Becker ![]() |
"Aye and I think it would be much better served in the hands of our boys back at the ARC" Becker said as he looked at it again and then gave Danny a small grin. "Im sure Cutter and Connor can figure it all out!" And since one arm was still done up in the sling and the other had to help support Danny, Becker let Danny be in charge of the artifact as they continued on their way. |
![]() | “They better,” Danny grumbled as he held onto Becker and carefully holding onto the artefact as they made their way out of the room, “I want to know what was so damn important that they nearly tortured us to death over it,” he grumbled as he looked around the hallway, making sure they were alone. |
Becker ![]() |
"Yeah for real, but just knowing Christine won't have it is a nice feeling as well" Becker said with an evil grin. "And speaking of Christine... we better get a move on. Really don't want to run into her of Captain anger management issues" he added with a shiver. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny returned that grin, knowing that he and Becker were about to ruin Christine's night/day and then also let out a shudder at that thought, "major props to you Cap'n, I can't believe you trained under that guy," he admitted as they resumed making their way out down the hallway, "even though I don't think any amount of anger management classes could fix that guy's issues," he added. |
Becker ![]() |
"Thanks for the compliment Danny," Becker said with a smirk. "Captain Wilder always kinda lived up to his name. He was a wild one, but never...never this bad" Becker admitted as they continued down the hall. "I don't think I ever saw him like this even during actual interrogation sessions before. He's definitely gotten worse. Im sure Christine has her hands full!" |
![]() | "Honestly he's probably realising he's stuck with Christine, that would set anyone off," Danny smirked, "speaking of which I wonder how our two are faring, since there's no alarms yet I think it's safe to say that they haven't realised we're gone yet," Danny really hoped he hadn't just jinxed them. |
Becker ![]() |
"Whatever they are doing, as long as its not coming at us, they can have at it with all of my blessing" Becker said as he shifted his hold on Danny, leaning against him a little more as they continued on their way. "In fact, I think... that I..." Becker's voice trailed off as they approached the last door on the hallway and cautiously stopped. "See anything Danny?" |
Danny ![]() |
Danny peeked in the doorway and had to stop a laugh from escaping, Captain Wilder was passed out at the table, a half drunk glass of scotch by his side and Christine was sitting there drinking her own scotch. He moved back so Christine wouldn't notice him, "you are not going to believe it, I think Christine drugged Captain Wilder, even he was too much for her it seems," he said softly with a grin. |
Becker ![]() |
"Becker leaned forward and took in the scene with a smirk. He watched as Christine finished the drink she had poured for herself and reached for the bottle, and poured another one. "Well I think it is safe to say we might not be getting found out for a while" he said with a nod at Danny "They both look like they are down for the night, or the next few hours at the very least." |
![]() | Danny grinned, "than I think between the two of us , I think we can get this artefact and ourselves out of here and to my hideout," he said softly, "and if we're really lucky, we can get to the ARC and warn them," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded as he took a breath and held it. Then as quickly as they could got them past the opened door and continued their way down the hall. He felt hopeful, and now knowing Wilder was down for the count and Christine looking not too far behind, it made him want to get to Danny's hideout all the sooner. As they turned the corner in the hallway Becker gave a small sigh or relief. "Ok, end of this hall should be the exit. And based on our recon a few days ago, the main gate is the most heavily guarded so we might be good slipping out the side entrance to make out run fo it. There are woods around the perimeter so we will have some cover if we can just get to it without being seen..." |
Danny ![]() |
"I know I'm going to be relieved to see the back of this place," Danny remarked as they turned the corner, "so we should be good if none of the guards are looking for us, it'll make our task a lot more easier to make a break for it," |
Becker ![]() |
"Exactly. No one is on high alert or knows we re gone yet. So, as long as we avoid them seeing us while on their usual walk past, we should be good. One quick run to the treeline and we should be home free." Becker gave Danny a small apologetic smile and shrugged. He didn't like the idea of having to run, but if it meant getting out of here.... he'd do it. |
![]() | Danny grimaced at that but nodded, he understood just what was at stake and they would have to endure a bit more pain but then they'd be free and right now it was important for them to get to get free so they could warn the ARC and especially warn Cutter and Connor what was coming. "We'll manage," Danny nodded, trying to be reassuring, "we can't stop now, we're so close to getting out of here, what's a bit more pain right?" |
Becker ![]() |
"Get to the trees and then it's off to that cache hideout of yours" Becker said with a smile. And a few minutes later they were at the end of the hallway, just one last door standing between them and freedom. "You ready Danny? One last push and the worst of this will be all behind us." |
Danny ![]() |
Danny smiled softly at that, "Ready as I'll ever be Cap'n," he nodded, "let's do this," he took a deep breath, "good thing the hideout's not far from here, I don't think I could handle a long run right now," he admitted as he tried to ignore the burning pain in his ribs. |
Becker ![]() |
"I dont think I've ever agreed with anything you have said more than that, Quinn" Becker nodded and then slowly opened the door. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, the cold air hitting him, reassuring him that freedom was right there waiting for them. With a quick glance around and not seeing the guards anywhere in sight Becker nodded. "Alright, this is it. Let's go!" and with that he tightened his hold on Danny and then started to run across the yard towards the treeline, trying to ignore the near instantaneous pain that flared through his entire body just then. |
![]() | Danny steadied himself and then holding as tightly as he could to Becker and the artefact, he followed Becker in a run, everything hurt but he knew he had to do ... it was the only chance they had and they had to do everything to take it, they were so close to freedom but the pain was worse than during the actual beatings, he was struggling but he pushed through everything so they could get to the treelined. "I never thought I would be so happy to see a bloody tree before," Danny groaned as he could see the treelike getting closer. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker just nodded as they kept moving. His lungs were burning and his leg felt like he was being stabbed with a hot poker with every step he took. But he kept moving, forcing himself forward. The team was counting on them to get to them before Christine did. And just when he thought he couldn't move another step they were in the trees. After going a few more minutes to make sure they had good cover, Becker stopped. He made sure Danny was near one of the large trees so he had something to lean on and then Becker's leg gave out on him and he sank to the ground. "I... I just.... need a rest..." Becker gasped out as a small sob escaped him as he sank to the ground. |
Danny ![]() |
"I definitely feel that," Danny groaned as he weakly sank to the ground, "we made it ... I can't believe we can't made it," he let out a sob of relief as he leaned against the tree trying to get his breath back. |
Becker ![]() |
"We... we made it... we actually made it...." Becker said still trying to believe they had actually pulled that off. And there was no alarm or indication their absence had been noted yet so that was good. Becker's body trembled as he leaned back against the nearest tree as the tears he had been holding back finally started to fall. They had made it. He didn't think they'd actually be able to. They were free. |
![]() | Danny was crying as well now, everything hurt but they were alive and they were free and ... "I can't believe it," he said softly, trembling as he leaned against the tree, "that actually worked, we ... we ..." he had to take a deep breath as everything from the last couple of days caught up to him, "we're free," he trembled. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded and then gingerly leaned over and put a hand on Danny's shoulder, being careful to avoid the worst of the welts. "You did good Danny. We'll get back to the ARC in no time. How.... how far is it to this cache of yours?" |
Danny ![]() |
Danny nodded, trembling as he managed to take a few deep breaths, "it's not far," he assured Becker, "it's about four blocks from here," he said, "I'm just relieved I had the foresight to put it in a central location, if I'd put it out any further ..." his voice trailed off as he shivered at the thought of walking any further than they had to. |
Becker ![]() |
"Good... thats a very good thing" Becker said with a nod. He knew his leg wasn't going to hold out much longer. Even now with the weight off it, the leg was still throbbing. He wasn't looking forward to walking on it for any length of time- but shorter was definitely better. "Alright, so let's catch our breath and then get to that cache, see if there is a way we can let Lester or someone know where we are." |
![]() | "Sounds good," Danny agreed, taking several deep breaths as he did, "I know I've got a couple of burner phones in there, between us we should get a hold of someone to let them know, hopefully they can come and pick us up, because I definitely don't want to do any more walking after this if I can help it," he groaned. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker also didn't think he was going to be able to do much more walking let alone running anytime soon. "Alright, I... I think we should start trying to head that way then. We don't want to lose the night- will be easier for someone to come get us under the cover if darkness anyway." |
Danny ![]() |
"Okay," Danny agreed, "let's get the hell away from this place, the sooner we're back at the ARC, the better we'll be," he said softly as he tried to start standing up, wincing at the pressure on his ribs as he did. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker also struggled to his feet, biting back a cry of pain as his shoulder shited painfully with the movement. Afyter getting upright and giving himself a chance to regain his balance, he limped over to Danny and grabbed his arm and put it over his shoulder. "Alright, lead the way" he said, the quiver in his voice betraying just how much pain he was really in just then. |
![]() | "Okay, it's this way," Danny nodded, wincing a bit at the effort that took, leaning against Becker and once he got his bearings. He then slowly but surely started to lead them in the direction his cache was, "I promise once we get there, it will be forth it, I've got everything there - whiskey, guns, burner phones, change of clothes, first aid kit, non perishable food ... I made sure they were going to be fully stocked when I prepared them," |
Becker ![]() |
"Really impressive Quinn" Becker said with a nod. That really was some good planning and Becker was very very glad Danny had set the caches up. "Aside from the obvious phone to call the team, I think I'm most looking forward to that whiskey and some food. And some water... I'm fairly certain we're both tiptoeing around the edges of some nasty dehydration by this point on top of everything else." |
Danny ![]() |
"Yeah I don't think they were looking at keeping us watered and fed," Danny said bitterly, "that Thai food seems like ages ago now," his stomach rumbled a little, "but food is definitely a high priority after that phone call," |
Becker ![]() |
"We'll divide and conquer when we get there," Becker said, feeling quite hungry himself all of a sudden, the pangs of hunger pushing through the regular pain for a brief moment. "And while Thai food sounds amazing.... anything would be appreciated at this point." Becker fell silent after that, trying to keep himself focused on just putting one foot in front of the other until Danny got them to their oasis. |
![]() | "How about when we're in the clear, when we get out of here, we can have a real feast," Danny grinned, trying to not think about how lovely all of that food sounded but they didn't have that much longer before they got to the cache, he just had to focus on getting them there. |
Becker ![]() |
"Gonna hold ya to that Quinn" Becker said with a weak smile. He was doing his best to not show it but he as hurting, and he didn't know much further he was going to be able to keep going. He found he was loosing his footing a bit more and his legs were feeling as wobbly as jello right then. They had to get there soon, or he wasn't going to make it. |
Danny ![]() |
"Sure thing Cap'n," Danny returned that smile, noticing how weak Becker looked, he imagined he didn't look much better but they were so close now. "Come on, we're nearly there," he promised as he tried to shift his weight so that Becker wouldn't have to shoulder his own weight so much, "just around this corner," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded as he forced himself to keep going. They had made it this far. He could go a little longer. Becker started scanning the area to see if he could spot the cache. He was kinda curious how well Danny had done with hiding it, and it gave him something to focus on other than how much he hurt. |
![]() | "Ah ... here it is," Danny grinned as they came to a stop, wincing a little at the effort it took, "right where I left ... everything should still be in there or else we're really screwed," he knew the next cache was practically on the other side of the city and he knew that neither of them would be able to get there in the state they were in. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker gave a sigh of relief when he heard Danny say he had found the cache. "Oh, that is the best thing i have heard you say since that first day you started poking around in our business" Becker said with a strained laugh. He let go of Danny so he could work on getting the cache open and making sure everything was there. Becker hobbled over and then sank to the ground and watched Danny closely. He really hoped everything was there. Now that he was sitting again, Becker didn't think he would be able to stand again anytime soon. |
Danny ![]() |
"Okay let's get you open," Danny winced at the effort it took to get it open and then tears of relief began to fall down his cheeks, "it's all here, the phones, the food and as promised, here's the whiskey," yes that was the first thing he took out and passed over the bottle to Becker. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker felt a sob catch in his throat as the relief washed over him just then. He wiped at the tears that were in his eyes and took the bottle from Danny and without hesitating, popped it open and took a drink. He had to make himself stop at a swig, despite wanting nothing more than to just down half the bottle then and there But he knew it would do no good if Chrsitine's men did come after them and they were passed out drunk. He handed the bottle back to Danny so he could have a much deserved drink and then pulled out one of the burner phones and handed it to Danny. "Maybe Jenny is our best bet? She's probably more likely to answer an unknown number?" Becker pondered as he looked at Danny. |
![]() | Danny took the whiskey and took a long swig of it himself before putting the bottle down, "I think Jenny would be a good bet too, she's probably organising the search for us ...let's try her number and see if we can reach her," he rummaged round in the cache and pulled out a packet of biscuits and handed them to Becker so he could try and eat something. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker traded the phone for the biscuits. He looked down at them for a moment feeling absolutely starving and absolutely nauseous at the thought of eating. Becker reached over and grabbed one of the bottles of water and took a couple of sips, figuring it would be better to get that into his stomach rather than just straight alcohol before he tried to eat something. As he watched Danny punch in Jenny's number Becker tried to nibble on the biscuits some and tried to keep it all down. |
Danny ![]() |
"Come on Jenny, please pick up," Danny begged silently once he typed in her number and the phone started ringing and for a while it looked like she wasn't going to answer and then he heard the click and a 'hello? Who is this?" "Jenny?" he cried, almost feeling overwhelmed with relief at hearing her voice, "it's me Danny ... I'm with Becker, we really need your help," A few more minutes passed as he talked to Jenny, confirming their location and then they hung up. "She's on her way Cap'n," he said, letting out a sob of relief as he did, "she's getting a car to us," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker felt tears of his own start to fall when the realization hit that they were actually going to make it. Without thinking Becker reached over and put his arm around Danny and pulled him close into a quick hug. Becker winced at the movement and pressure but he didn't care. "We're getting out of here" he said softly as everything from the last couple of days hit him and a choked sob escaped him again. As he let his arm fall from around Danny Becker kept his head where it had been resting against his shoulder. He was so tired. And it was suddenly really really hard to keep his eyes open at all. "We're safe... we're gonna make it...." he said softly as his eyes slid shut and he trembled slightly. |
![]() | “We’re getting out of here Cap’n,” Danny said gently as Becker leaned against him and he gently rubbed his back, “tell you what, how about you have a rest and I’ll keep watch until the car comes and picks us up?” he said gently. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded slowly, trying and failing to get his eyes open at that point. "Not much... of a solider boy... without a gun right?" he said with a weak laugh. If Danny said something in reply Becker didn't hear it as he had already let himself fall, willingly at last, into the darkness of sleep. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny continued to rub Becker's back gently as he slowly helped him sit down so he could get in a more comfortable position while he slept. Once Becker was resting, Danny had another look through the cache, he pulled out a pistol that had been hiding in the bottom and then he pulled out a jumper and put that on. The last thing he wanted was for everyone to see just how badly he'd been hurt. He got the pistol and sat by Becker. "Don't worry Cap'n, I'll keep us safe while you rest," he promised. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker barely moved or registered anything Danny said. For the time being, at least, he wasn't in pain, or at least not in as much pain. He knew Danny was there and that he would keep them safe until help arrived. For the moment, Becker was content to just lose himself in that darkness. But it was short-lived as his eyes snapped open and he went to reach for his weapon that wasn't there. He had heard something. He looked over at Danny with wide eyes. Had that been a car? Was it Jenny finally finding them? Or had Christine and Wilder managed to track them down somehow? |
![]() | Danny saw that expression and moved closer to Becker, "we're okay Cap'n," he said gently, placing a hand on Becker's back to calm him down, "it was just some traffic, it shouldn't be too much longer before Jenny finds us," he added . |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded, trying to calm down his breathing and relax the ache in his ribs from where he had tensed up so much. "S-sorry" he muttered, hating how scared and weak he was being. All he could see when he closed his eyes was Wilder, standing over him. He knew their escape might not have even been noticed just yet, but he still wasn't going to be fully able to relax till they were back at the ARC. |
Danny ![]() |
“You have nothing to apologise for Cap’n,” Danny said gently as he rubbed Becker’s back gently , hoping that would help calm him down, “we just have to hold on a little bit longer and then we can get to the ARC,” |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded and tried to relax and calm down. As he sat there, back to one of the trees and leaned his head back, he stated running through his relaxing technique. He had used the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 method countless times, and had even taught it to Cutter. And now he sat there going through it again himself silently, trying to keep distracted while they waited. Slow breath in, silently counting on his fingers, and a slow breath out. It was working... kinda... a little. |
![]() | It didn’t take long for Danny to realise what Becker was trying to do and he shifted a little to try and give him space but not move to much that he would worry if he moved too far. He looked back out to the road, hoping it wasn’t going to be much longer before Jenny arrived. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker appreciated the space and that Danny wasn't calling attention to everything. But he was also glad Danny hadn't gone too far away. By the time he finished, he was feeling a little calmer and more relaxed. So when the sound of an approaching vehicle could be heard, Becker just looked over at Danny and then shifted slightly to ty and see through the trees and see who it might be. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny braced himself as the vehicle pulled to a stop, he moved a little closer to see what was happening and the door opened and he let out a sob of relief when Jenny and two ARC security guards climbed out. "Cap'n, it's Jenny, they found us," he sobbed. |
Becker ![]() |
Becker let his head fall back against the tree as the sob of relief escaped him. At that moment, he didn't care who saw him sitting there crying. They were safe. The team had found them. And that was all that mattered. |
![]() | "I'm just going to let Jenny know where we are okay Cap'n?" Danny said gently as he slowly stood up, "I'm not going to be far and then we're one step closer to getting to the ARC," |
Becker ![]() |
Becker nodded and as he watched Danny walk away and disappear just out of sight, he slowly got to his feet. He found he was leaning against the tree a lot more than he liked. Becker tried to start preparing himself mentally. He didn't want to make Jenny or the others worry about him too much... he could do this. He just had to put up with the pain for a little longer. |
Danny ![]() |
Danny went out to meet with Jenny and it took all of his effort to not break down crying in front of her but he held it together and explained where Becker was and that they had to hurry back to the ARC. It wasn’t long at all before they were all in the car and on their way back to the ARC. |
