It had taken another couple of weeks but finally the press lost interest in Cutter and Connor, the stories eventually fizzling out and that meant that they could focus on the new anomaly prediction model. Cutter wanted to get more work done on the anomaly prediction model with Sarah, who had been made really good with the research and now that they were able to move freely to and from the ARC, he had been able to set everything up in the lab and begin attempting to work on putting past anomalies in place and then future ones he had begun to work out based on Sarah’s research. It was time consuming but it had been so long since Cutter had been engrossed in his work like this and he only became aware of other people when they tried to touch the anomaly prediction model. The only exception to his ‘no touching the anomaly prediction mode’ was Connor, who had been helping him with getting what supplies he needed. “I can’t believe we’re nearly finished with this,” he said excitedly as he looked up at Connor from where he was sitting on the floor underneath the anomaly prediction model. Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"It really is something" Connor said as he looked around at the model that has basically taken over the entire space by this point. It really did look amazing, and it would be even more amazing if they could actually make it work and make sense. "The ability to predict anomalies and where they could show up... that is just bloody amazing" he said still looking at everything in awe as he handed Cutter a tie to secure the newest pieces together.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter gratefully took the tie and after some consideration, figured out the pieces he needed to tie together, "if this works, we'll be able to work out when and where an anomaly will appear," he said, "we won't have to wait for the anomaly to appear, we can go straight to the source before it causes any danger,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Amazing, and to think Jenny wanted us to try and do this on a computer" Connor said with a chuckle as he looked at one of the newer pieces Cutter had added to the model just recently. "We getting close to figuring it all out are we?"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter laughed at that, as he looked at what was left up to on the model, “I know, if we tried this on a computer it wouldn’t be the same …we need the physical representation,” he nodded, “and it’s so much easier to work on now that the press aren’t breathing down our necks,”’he added. He considered Connor’s question, “we should be close, a few more ties and I think we’ll be be ready to test this,” he smiled.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"So much nicer without the press everywhere" Connor said with a slight shiver at remembering the few times he had been ambushed string to get to and from the ARC early on during all the media frenzy. "Glad to have all that behind us now!" Connor looked at the model for a moment, lightly running his fingers over one of the silver lines connecting the pieces together. It really was amazing and would be even more amazing if it helped them better control the anomalies. "Still no indication on timing though... If we manage to find a predicted anomaly, we still won't know exactly when it will open yet right?"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter nodded with a small smile, “hopefully everyone has well and truly forgotten us and we don’t have to go through anything like that again, I don’t know how actual celebrities cope with all that attention,” he shuddered at the thought. “It depends, we could find an anomaly but it could be one that opened a long time ago or it could be one that hasn’t opened yet,” he admitted, “it might take a bit of trial and error to figure things out,”

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Right, and we’re pretty sure anomalies have been around as long as the planet has. Sometimes they are more prevalent than others... But they'd be opening and closing all the time off and on" Connor mused. "Guess after figuring out where they will appear is trying to figure out when they will open and close."

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
"Exactly," Cutter grinned, "if this works like how I think it will, we should theoretically be able to get to the site of a new anomaly and maybe we can even figure out a way to close, stop anyone from going in and out of the anomalies," he paused, "especially the future ones," he added.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Would make things easier to keep people away and to even keep any creatures from coming through. Having more warning of when and where they occur, and finding a way to control them... that's what we have been shooting for since the beginning!" Connor couldn't help but grin at that possibility.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter returned that grin, "and we'll be able to focus a lot more on studying the anomalies, how and why they appear without having to worry about the danger they and whatever creatures come through present to the community ... I think this will really help us, I mean it looks like a mess right now," he chuckled when he remembered Jenny's reaction when she saw the model for the first time, "but just think of how much we can learn from it," he grinned as he tied another two pieces together and stood back thoughtfully to study it, "I think we may be ready to try predicting our first anomaly,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Really? Already?" Connor asked with a broad grin spreading across his face. He looked at the pieces Cutter had just finished attaching. He didn't fully understand how the model worked but he was getting there and Cutter seemed to understand so that was what mattered. "Shall we let the team know? See what Lester wants to do?"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
"I think we should bring in the team in on this, at the least so they know the model works and with all the information Sarah's been putting in the matrix, it should be accurate as well," Cutter considered, he knew that Lester was worried about whether or not these anomaly predictions would be accurate or not.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Well, we do have the current ADD Hub so if the anomaly opens up when we are not there we will at least know when it does. So, it's not like we are solely resting on the untested model" Connor offered. He knew there was a lot of unknowns with this but he was excited to see it in action and see how well it worked.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter nodded, "that's true, I haven't heard any alarms go off yet but that could mean it's an older anomaly," he considered thoughtfully, "and it may take a while until we can get that accurate reading," he admitted, "as far as I'm aware nothing like this has ever been attempted before,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"I think it's safe to say everything we have been doing with the anomalies is a first" Connor said with a smirk. He gave a nod towards the door and smiled. "Shall we go round up the team and tell them the good news that we got our first predicted anomaly to check out?"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter laughed at that, "that's true," he said as he stood back from the model, looking it over thoughtfully to make sure that everything was in fact right for the team, "I think we should round the team up, see how well this model works," he grinned.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Alright, I will go round the team up and be back in a jiff," Connor said as he gave another quick approving look over the model and the work they had done. "This is going to work Nick, I know it is" he said encouragingly as he gave a quick smile to Cutter then turned to go find the team.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter nodded and gave a warm smile as he watched Connor leave to bring the team in and he found himself nervously pacing the model, making sure that everything was right for the first official demonstration. He had been working on this for weeks and now that it was nearly ready, he was terrified that everything they done to work on this would be for nothing. What if this was just a big waste of time? He felt that familiar doubt start to creep in but he tried to stay focus and prepare himself for the presentation.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"It had taken a little longer than Connor had liked to get everyone together. Lester had been tied up on the phone with some politician to dignitary, so Connor had had to wait for him to finish. But at last, they were together and Connor was leading them down to Cutter's lab and the model. Lester had told Abby and Cutter's Connor to stay working on the new detection device and Hub upgrades. And Sarah was off doing more research outside the ARC. So it was Lester, Becker, and Jenny that filed in after Connor. "Ta-da!" Connor said with a grin and a flourish as he showed them the anomaly prediction model.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
"What exactly am I looking at?" Lester blinked a lot as he took in the site of the anomaly prediction model, "this is what you've been working on the last several weeks?" "I said the same thing," Jenny spoke up, "I asked why it couldn't have been done a computer," "It's a 3D model representing all known anomalies," Cutter said, despite his nerves he was extremely excited about getting to talk about the project, "it needed to be tangible, to allow for a better representation of a known anomaly," he explained.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"It also makes him feel kinda god-like" Connor whispered to Lester with a grin. "This is a model of where we have found references to anomalies in the past and thanks to a pattern we think we have found, we may be able to predict where anomalies we haven't discovered yet might open."

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
"Cutter grinned at that as something caught his eye and he followed the lines of the model to a particular point, "you know Connor, I think you might be right," he said as he got a tie and tied it around the point he'd found, "unless I'm very much mistaken ..." he looked back at Lester, Jenny, Becker and Connor, "I think we may have made our first prediction,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"So this means.... what exactly?" Becker asked trying to follow the admittedly seemingly random lines and arches. "That tells you where an anomaly might appear?" Connor nodded. "Aye, it's a spot where there is likely an anomaly, one we haven't yet encountered. Right Nick?" he asked as he looked over at Cutter not wanting to take the opportunity to gush about his work away from him.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter grinned excitedly, "right, we'll put in all the data and analyse it and we should be able to come up with a precise location for where it is," Lester frowned, "but why haven't the ADD Hub alarms alerted us to a new anomaly?" he looked at the model closely. "It could happen tomorrow or it could happen many years from now," he admitted rather sheepishly, "we need to be prepared for the possibility that one's going to appear,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"But this could still be really useful even before we find a way to get a time estimate for the anomalies," Connor added. "If we know locations, we can be prepared for how to handle them and what we would need to consider when one does open. Abandoned farm field or the middle of London, knowing the location ahead of time could be very valuable!" "It would be helpful to not be running into these totally blind" Becker admitted as he stepped closer to the model to look at one of the marked points. "Though I have to admit knowing a time frame would also be very helpful too. But I am sure you two can figure that out as well" he said with an encouraging smile.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter nodded thoughtfully, "we can analyse it a bit further and pinpoint an exact location and then we'll be able to send a team over to have a look at it, keep an eye out for any creatures or anomalies," he told Becker, "with the data we've already compiled, it shouldn't be that hard to get a precise reading,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Well then I guess we can head out and take a look whenever you get an idea of where this anomaly might be" Becker said looking over at Lester. "I know we cant just sit at a site waiting for the anomaly" Connor said with a sigh. "But we should check it out and see if anything is there. We might be able to detect something if there's been an anomaly that has happened there before. It could help us further pinpoint the readings and all for these predictions!"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter nodded, "exactly, I'll start working on the analysis and then once I know a precise location we can head over to the site and see if there's any indication that an anomaly activity might occur, we may be able to lock the site down before a creature gets loose or an unexacting civilian wanders into the anomaly without realising,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"It shouldn't take us too long, Lester," Connor said, trying to reassure the team that this would work. "We can make this work and it will help us be more efficient with the anomalies and also cut down on the creature incursions and civilian involvement as well!"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
"Alright I want full report on my desk as soon as you have the location," Lester ordered, "and then Captain Becker I want you to arrange a security team, it would probably work in best if we don't all go in guns blazing," he added, "keep the original team small and then as we need to, we can send in backup," Cutter nodded, "alright, I'll start work on the analysis, Connor can you help me sift through the data?"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Of course!" Connor said with a nod a smile. "We'll have a spot narrowed down for this anomaly soon!" "And I will be ready to go when you are" Becker replied. "I will get my men prompted to handle things here on the ARC. I will personally accompany the first team on site when we are ready to go."

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Lester nodded, "good and Ms. Lewis, once we have the location, I want you to call around and start getting it evacuated if needed, Professor Cutter, I want you to coordinate with Ms. Lewis once you have the site location," Cutter nodded at Lester and Jenny as he got set up so that he and Connor could start looking through the data, "I can do that Lester," he assured him. "Good, everyone has their assignments, let's get to it," he ordered.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
Becker nodded and then dismissed himself to go meet with his team as everyone started filing out of the lab. Once they were gone, Connor starting working on the tech and getting the data and readings they needed to start crunching numbers and narrowing down a location for their first predicted anomaly. He worked quietly for a moment and then looked over his shoulder at Cutter for a moment, pushing down the twinge of worry and uncertainty he felt. This was going to work. This had to work! "Should have that data crunched in no time" he said, trying to sound as confident as he could.

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter nodded as he began to work through his own data, there was a lot of data and trying to narrow down the exact location might take longer than they had, "most of the information is in the matrix," he nodded, "should just be matter of putting in some calculations and that should give us the exact location of an anomaly," He hoped it would anyway, now that they something to work with, the idea that this might not work was suddenly terrifying to him.

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"You'll figure it out, Nick" Connor said as he paused and plugged in a few more numbers. "I have faith in you!"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter smiled, "thanks Connor, I couldn't have done this without your help," he said as he waited for a few more results and sighed when he didn't get the exact answer he was hoping for, "hopefully the others won't have to wait to long before we get a result,"

Connor([personal profile] anomaly_research_nerd)
"Anytime Nick. It's good to be back doing this... Working with the team.. working together. I missed it. We'll get this figured out, I know we will!"

Cutter([personal profile] itsananomaly)
Cutter smiled, "I've missed this too, it's nice being able to do our jobs without being interrupted by the press every five minutes," he added and then he focused on working through his pile of data, narrowing it down until he and Connor could come up with an exact location.
