itsananomalyIt had taken a lot of planning and coordinating but the day of their South Africa trip had finally come, Connor and Cutter were going to be portalling over to near their dig site and Becker was going to be meeting them there, he had already texted them to say that he was on the plane and would see them shortly.
Cutter went over all of their bags to make sure they hadn’t forgotten anything, “can you believe we’re finally doing this?” he said excitedly as he checked to make sure he had all their documents and permits.

Connor hadn't been able to keep the grin off his face all day as he finished packing. "I have to keep reminding myself that this isn't just an amazing dream, that we are actually getting to go on a dig together, in Africa! I can hardly wait!" |

"I know and I still can't believe we managed to convince Becker to come along with us," Cutter added with a grin, "nearly three weeks in South Africa, I can't wait to show you everything," |

"Oh, and I am beyond excited about this trip! We actually get to camp out at one of the dig sites for a couple days too. Can you believe that? I've never done something like that before.... I bet it's amazing sleeping out on site like that!" Connor was just a teensy bit excited about the trip! . |

"It's one of the best experiences in the world," Cutter told him happily as he imagined getting to share this experience with his fiancé and one of his close friends, "you will absolutely love it," |

"I cant wait" Connor said as he looked at Cutter with a grin. "So, I think I have everything packed. I got one bag with clothes and all for at the dig. One bag with clothes and everything else for when we are off sightseeing or going somewhere else. And then one bag with the rest of the stuff, toiletries, bedding, and all that. I think that is everything?" |

"Do you have your cameras?" Cutter checked as he double checked that he had his own cameras for the trip, "there'll be great opportunities to get some wonderful nature shots, especially when its night, you can really get amazing shots of the night sky," |

"Yup camera, extra camera, phone, charger, laptop, all that is my backpack. And I've already checked with Abby and Rex is nice and settled in and already having a good time at their flat, so he'll be nice and pampered while we are gone." |

Cutter smiled, "Rex may not want to come back home after all that pampering and getting to play with the other Rex," he said, "and I have my cameras and phone and chargers as well," he remarked, "and my journal so I can refer back to it for my scrapbooking," he added, it was something that Dr. Taylor had recommended he keep up with during the trip. |

"I'll be taking photos for my scrapbook as well, but I'll just add to it when we get back. I have a brand new journal as well and I was thinking of trying to pick up an old polaroid camera if I can find one somewhere... could be cool to get photos for the journal to go along with the notes and all, ya know?" Connor said with a nod. . |

"Oh that would be cool, I think the Photo Hut should have the old polaroid cameras if you wanted to make a quick trip there before our portal?" Cutter suggested with a smile, "maybe I should pick up one as well actually..." he said as he considered. |

"If you want I can run over while you head to wait for our portal. Shouldn't take long and I can grab two for us if they have some available" Connor suggested. "That way we're sure to have someone there on time so the gnomes don't try to cancel our portal and I can grab the cameras and stuff for us as well!" |

"Oh that's a good idea, yes we wouldn't want our portal to be cancelled on us not when we've got everything ready to go," Cutter nodded as he did one more check of everything, he checked the time, "we still have a good while before our portal is ready," he added. |

"It's a shame Becker cant access the portals on his end easily" Connor said. "I kinda feel bad for him having to make that flight. I mean I know he's used to it and has flown all over the world and first class is a hell of a lot better than in the back of a paratrooper plane. But still... Im not sure I could handle a long flight like that after these portals!" he admitted with a laugh. |

"It was nice of James to pay first class for Becker though," Cutter smiled, "and I know what you mean, I've been on some long flights, we've definitely been spoiled with the portals, its a shame we can't use the portals to head back to London when we're finished on the trip," he admitted. |

"Will just be one last adventure to finish off the trip" Connor said with a small sigh. "At least there are several layovers to help break everything up so it's not a solid 12-13 hours in a plane." . |

"That's true," Cutter agreed, even though he wasn't looking forward to the plane trip back to London, "at least all of us will be able to travel back together as well," he looked at the time again, "I still can't believe how close we are to this trip," |

"I know, so much has happened and we have been talking about and planning this trip feels like ages! It's going to be amazing. and I can't wait to experience it all with you and Becker!" Connor also looked at the clock. "The rickshaw we arranged should be here soon. We can get you and the bags all loaded up to head to wait for our portal. I can head to the PhotoHut and then meet you there?" |

Cutter smiled, "and I can't wait to experience it all with you both," he said and then nodded, "that sounds good, that way all our stuff is at Portalocity and we can keep an eye on our booking," |

"And I can just run back if things go long at the PhotoHut so its not both of us rushing around" Connor smiled. "You want me to stay and help you load the rickshaw?" |

"Actually that would be great if you could do that," Cutter said as he looked around at the assortment of bags and equipment that they had with them, "some help would be really nice thank you," |

"Of course Nick. We'll start taking the bags out to the lobby since they should be here shortly." It was a good thing the lift was working! . |

Cutter smiled, “thank you, I’ll do one more check to make sure we have everything and then I think we should be right to start heading out,” |

"Sounds good- I'll go check the bedroom and make sure we haven't forgotten anything there" Connor said as he reached out and gave Cutter's hand a squeeze then headed off to do the final bedroom check for them. |

Cutter smiled at that as went over everything, when he was satisfied that they did have everything that they needed for the trip, barring the visit to the Photo Hut before they left, he waited for Connor to come back from the bedroom. |

"I think we are good to go" Connor said when he returned a few minutes later. "We should have everything we need for the trip. You got the portal pass right? We both have our passports and documents for when we arrive at the dig site." |

"I got the portal pass right here," Cutter said as he held up the copy, "and I've checked everything here, so I think we're right to leave now," he said with a smile. |

"Don't have to tell me twice!" Connor said excitedly as he slung his backpack on and grabbed two of his bags to start towards the lift. "Once we get down there I can run back up here and grab the last of the bags while you wait for the rickshaw if you want?" he offered, not wanting Cutter to overdue it and aggravate his hands any more than necessary before their big trip. . |

Cutter was grateful for that, he had been a little worried how his hands were going to go on such a dig, "thank you," he said softly as he started to get a couple of his own bags to carry down, "that would be really great if you could," |

"No trouble at all Nick" Connor said with a nod. He grabbed the bags and headed for the lift, holding it open when he got there so Cutter could get in easily with his bags. |

Cutter smiled as Connor held the lift open and he went in with his bags, "it still doesn't feel real that we're actually doing this," he said in awe at how close they were to the trip. |

"I know, can you believe it!?!? In half an hour or so we will be in South Africa! It is going to be absolutely amazing!" When the lift opened on the ground floor Connor helped get the bags set up by the door and hurried back up to the apartment to get the last few bags and bring them down. |

"It's going to be the best trip ever," Cutter declared and then once they had all the bags out the lift, he waited for Connor to come back with the last of the bags so they could get their rickshaw. |

It didn’t take long for Connor to come back down with the last of the bags. "Bot flats are all locked up and secured" he said as he took the bags outside to the rickshaw that just pulled up for them. "I'll ride with ya and then walk down to the PhotoHut. It's just a block or two away so won't take long. Should be back in time for us to head off no problem!" Connor got the bags loaded and then nodded towards the rickshaw. "Go on and get situated I will squeeze in there somewhere after I get these bags all loaded" he said with a grin. It wasn't a far drive over. He could always sit in Cutter's lap if needed.... |

Cutter would definitely not mind if Connor sat in his lap... Cutter grinned at that as he climbed into the rickshaw and then waited for Connor to finish loading up the bags and then it would be almost time for the trip, barring a quick stop to the Photo Hut. |

"There we go! Everything is in" Connor said and then he climbed into the rickshaw and managed to squeeze in beside Cutter. The lap-sitting would have to wait till some other opportunity. In no time they were pulling up to a stop to unload the bags. |

Cutter would have to manage his disappointment. "Well here we are," Cutter said excitedly once they came to a stop, "and with plenty of time to spare," he added, "you should be able to make the trip to the Photo Hut and back in no time," |

"I will run like the wind and be back before you know it with two cameras and plenty of film!" Connor said with a grin. He helped CUtter with the last of the bags and then with a quick kiss on the cheek he was off for a quick |

Cutter smiled as he waited for Connor to come back and to also make sure that nothing happened to their portal booking while he was gone. |

In record time Connor made it to the Photo Hut and back. He was all smiles when he came back and held up two bags. "Success! Got us two brand new polaroid cameras and pretty much all the film they had for them too" he admitted with a small laugh. He handed one bag to Cutter and then walked over to his duffle bag to put the new camera away carefully.. |

“Oh that’s great, thank you Connor we’ll be able to get amazing pictures for our scrapbook,” Cutter said with a grin as he took the bag from Connor. |

"Aye, between these and our digital cameras and phones, we will be able to get plenty of photos and videos! And I think we should take the first one right now" he said with a grin as he held up the Polaroid before packing it away and gave Cutter a playful grin. |

“Well here we are at the start of the trip,” Cutter said with a grin as he gave a pose for the camera. |

"Aye, the official start of our epic trip!" Connor leaned in close and held out the camera and snapped the photo. He waited excitedly for it to develop and grinned as he showed it to Cutter. |

“Oh that’s a really nice photo,” Cutter smiled as he Connor showed him, “the perfect way to commemorate our trip,” |

"Oh and there's our portal, right on time too!" he said with a grin as the portal appeared. "Well, we ready to do this?" he asked with a grin, knowing all too well what the answer was as he grabbed up the bags excitedly. "Awesome vacation, here we come!" . |

Cutter grinned, "perfect timing," he said as he got the remaining bags, "this is going to be a wonderful trip, I can't wait," he said as they headed towards the portal. |

Connor stepped through the portal with Cutter, his eyes going wide as they emerged on the other side. They definitely were not in Fandom anymore as he looked around. |
