At some point, Connor had woken up to find the spot where Cutter had been lying empty. He made his way down the hallway and gave a small smile as he did.

"Hey Nick" he said with a sleepy yawn as he ran his hand through is hair. "Happy Christmas," he said with a fond smile as he walked over and kissed his boyfriend.

Cutter smiled warmly as he returned that kiss, “Happy Christmas Connor, I didn’t wake you did I?” he asked, noticing the sleepy yawn.

"Naw you're fine. I woke up and you weren't in bed... wanted to make sure you were ok" Connor said. "Wanted to make sure I wasn't soring really bad again."

Cutter smiled at that, "you weren't snoring," he assured him, "I thought I'd get a head start and make sure Rex didn't try and get into the presents, luckily he seems pretty interested in his food right now," Rex chirped happily at that.

"Aye that's a good boy Rex" Connor said as he looked over at Rex with grin. "You stay and eat and play with your toys. I'd rather not have to rescue you from the tree again" he said shaking his head and remembering the other day when Rex got tangled up in the lights in the as he had been exploring the Christmas tree...again.

Cutter grinned at that, "yes that was a bit difficult wasn't it?" he said as he remembered how tangled up Rex had gotten, "he's lucky he didn't bring the whole tree down on himself,"

Connor smiled as he watched Rex. "I'm pretty sure if we hadn't been home when it happened the tree would have come right down!" Thankfully Rex seemed to be a bit more cautious of the tree after that.

"So, I got those orders from JGOB and the Perk placed a few days ago. Should have some doughnuts and coffee coming shortly so we can have breakfast!"

"Oh that will definitely be an amazing breakfast for us," Cutter grinned, "and then I think we can do presents or would you like to start presents now and then we can stop and have a break for breakfast?"

"We got about an hour before it's scheduled so I think we can do gifts first and then be done when the food arrives" Connor said with a grin.

"Gifts it is," Cutter smiled and went to the pile of presents under the tree and picked out Connor's first gift, "Happy Christmas Connor," he smiled as he handed him his /present.

Connor opened the gift and then grinned when he saw what it was. "Oh Nick, thank you this is amazing! I love it. Can't wait to get it set up on my desk- I think that will be a great place for it!" He leaned over and gave Cutter a soft kiss. "Thank you!"

Cutter smiled at the kiss, pleased that Connor liked his gift, "you're welcome, I thought it was something you could use while you're studying, if you need a break, its supposed to be quite relaxing,"

"Oh definitely" Connor said with an excited grin. "I think it would be perfect for a mini mind break or little meditation break while studying. Thank you!" Connor took another minute or two to look at the gift then he set it aside and went to grab a present from under the tree. He walked over and handed it to Cutter. "Hope you like your gift" he said with a grin as he watched Cutter open the gift to find a series of magazines. "Thought some new paleontology subscriptions might be good for you" he said with a sheepish smile.

Cutter's smile widened, "oh this is fantastic," he said happily as he looked through the magazines, "thank you Connor, I'm definitely looking forward to reading these," he said and he went over to give Connor a kiss.

Connor returned the kiss gladly and smiled. "I'm glad you like them, and might even end up selling one or two of them for my research too."

Cutter smiled fondly at Connor, "you can definitely use them for your research, I can even take some notes from these magazines as well while I read them, so you have the notes ready if you need to refer back to the magazines,"

Connor smiled as he leaned in closer to Cutter. "You are amazing Nick,m that would be great, thanks" he said then leaned closer and kissed him softly.

"You're welcome Connor," Cutter smiled as he happily leaned into the kiss, returning the soft kiss as he did.

Connor happily kept the kiss going for a time as he enjoyed just being there with Cutter like this. But eventually, he did have to get a breath and he smiled at his boyfriend. "You want your other present now or after we eat?" he asked, still keeping his arms around Cutter as he smiled.

Cutter was reluctant to break the kiss as he leaned against Connor happily, "that is a tough decision," he said, "maybe we should eat and then do the rest of the presents?" he considered, "I'm sure Rex would definitely love to get to his presents then,"

"Sounds like a plan. Food should be here any time now" Connor said as he gave Cutter another quick kiss then went to check on Rex real quick.

"Rex is playing in the boxes we left for him in the bedroom" he said with a grin when he returned "So I think we are safe for a little while longer as far as trying to keep him out of the presents and the tree!"

Cutter smiled fondly at that, "Rex is definitely going to love those boxes," he said, "so far this is shaping up to be a very nice Christmas morning indeed, I'm glad we're able to do this," he smiled at Connor.

"Perfect Christmas so far, and I love being able to spend it with you Nick" Connor smiled.

Just then there was a knock on the door and Connor's smile broadened. "Breakfast is here!" He headed for the door as he looked back at Cutter. "Want to get the plates and all for us and I'll get the food and drinks and bring them over?"

"And I love being able to spend it with you Connor," Cutter smiled back and nodded, "and I can definitely do that, I'll go get the plates now,"

He then went to the kitchen and began to get two plates out for him and Connor and put them on the table.

After picking up the food and giving the delivery guy a nice tip, he brought everything over and looked at Cutter with a grin as he started setting it all out.

"There's two coffee drinks for each of us, one hot and one cold. Cold peppermint mocha and a hot sugar cookie latte' for us both! And I got a full dozen doughnuts so we can be as bad as we want to be with celebrating our first Christmas together!"

"Oh this sounds perfect," Cutter smiled as he looked over the table, "thank you Connor, this is the perfect way to spend our first Christmas together,"

Connor beamed at that. "Well coffee seems to be a bit of a tradition with us so I figured it was worth continuing. And I agree this is a great way to celebrate our first Christmas together" Connor said as he leaned over to give Cutter a kiss. "The best Christmas ever!"

Cutter happily returned that kiss, "aye the best christmas ever," he agreed happily, "the first of many more to come," he smiled.

"Oh I really really do like the sound of that" Connor said as he leaned into Cutter's arms slightly and returned the kiss. "Many more years to celebrate together. Sounds perfect!"

Cutter smiled as he wrapped his arms around Connor and happily kept kissing him, "it definitely does," he agreed, "I'm glad that we're able to spend Christmas together, I'm looking forward to spending the day with you, an amazing breakfast, finishing unwrapping the presents and then spending the day together,"

Connor moaned into the kiss softly as he kept it going for a few minutes before reluctantly pulling back. "All I want is right here" he said as he gave Cutter's back a gentle rub before letting his hands fall away. "Well, you and couple of these doughnuts," he said with a smirk as he opened the box and grabbed one of the jelly-filled doughnuts.

Cutter couldn't help but laugh at that, "aye," he agreed, "you are all I ever need as well," he told him, and then his stomach started rumbling, "but I definitely wouldn't say no to a couple of doughnuts," he agreed with a sheepish smile.

Connor smiled and turned the box around so Cutter could see what was available and he picked up his iced coffee and took a long satisfying drink.

"We can enjoy more time together after we eat. I think you will like your next gift. Will be really good for bedtime I think" Connor smirked.

"Oh?" Cutter looked really intrigued at that and maybe started blushing just a little right then, "well I look forward to opening it then," he said as he picked out a couple of doughnuts and put them on his plate, he decided to go with his hot drink first and took a sip of that, "I hope you like the other gifts I got you as well," he said shyly.

Connor smiled at Cutter. "I am sure I will love them all" he said as he finished off he first doughnut and reached for a second one.

Cutter smiled at that as he busied himself with another doughnuts, "these are really good doughnuts," he said as he paused his eating to take a sip of his coffee. "Perfect Christmas morning breakfast,"

"They really are arent they? I had thought about trying ti make something special for us. That... lasted for about two minutes" he said with a small sheepish laugh.

"Oh?" Cutter said with a smile, "what were you originally going to make for us?" he asked, curious about could have been their Christmas breakfast instead.

"oh I had thought about the traditional breakfast. Eggs, bacon, pancakes... Don't think the kitchen is ready for that attempt from me " Connor said with a laugh.

Cutter laughed as well, "well it's the thought that counts right?" he grinned, "but these doughnuts and coffee do make a very nice breakfast as well,"

"Aye, glad you like them!" Connor said with a smile. "This is a very nice Christmas Breakfast isn't it?"

"The best," Cutter declared as he helped himself to another doughnut, "this should become a tradition for us on Christmas morning, open a couple of presents, have coffee and doughnuts for breakfast and then open the rest of the presents," he smiled.

"Oh I like the way you think, Nick!" Connor said with a broad grin. "That sounds like the perfect Christmas tradition! I love it!"

Cutter grinned as he raised his coffee in a toast, "to perfect Christmas traditions," he said.

"To the first of many amazing traditions we are going to have together!" he agreed as he returned the toast. It was amazing thinking about everything they had been through in the past year and have they almost hadn't ended up where they were right now. "I am glad I get to be making these traditions and memories with you Nick."

Cutter smiled at Connor, "I'm glad that I can make these new memories and traditions with you as well," he said, "they're going to be amazing Christmases and holidays," he said happily.

Connor nodded in agreement as he finished off his first coffee and doughnuts.

"So, want to keep our new tradition going and open that second present of yours?"

Cutter smiled warmly, "I can definitely open the second present," he told him, "and then you can open yours as well, before we let Rex back in,"

Connor grinned and walked over to the tree and picked up another present and handed it to Cutter.

"Happy Christmas Nick"he said with a grin as he watched him open the package.

Cutter opened his present and smiled as he saw what it was, “oh these are really nice, thank you Connor,” he said as he felt the material of the pyjamas, “I’m definitely going to be giving these a try tonight,” he added shyly as he went over to give Connor a kiss.

"Glad you like them Nick" Connor grinned as he watched him open the package. "I can't wait to see how they look on you" he said, his cheeks flushing a little as he thought about that... and a few other things if he was honest as he leaned in and returned the kiss.

Cutter flushed at that as he happily kissed Connor and then when he had reluctantly stopped he head back to tree and picked up Connor’s presents. Yes there was a theme to theme to them, he hadn’t been able to choose between them, “Happy Christmas Connor,” he smiled as he handed over the presents.

Connor's smile grew bigger and bigger with each present he opened. And when he finished there last one and looked at the presents, and the obvious and much-appreciated theme, he thew his arms around Cutter and hugged him.

"These are amazing Nick! Thank you so much, I love them!" He smiled at his boyfriend as he held him close.

Cutter had watched Connor's smile grow with each present, he had been a bit nervous with his choices, he knew Connor loved the franchise but he wasn't sure what he'd think of his choices so when he saw that smile and then that hug, he relaxed a little as he hugged Connor back tightly, "you're welcome Connor, I'm glad you love them," he said, "I couldn't choose which one so I got you all of them," he admitted.

"You did great Nick, thank you so much!" Connor said as he gave another squeeze to the hug then slowly let go. "And now it is time for your last gift" he said with a grin as he picked up one of two remaining gifts under the tree. He walked over and handed Cutter the final gift, the one that had NOT been marked as "For Rex From Santa."

Cutter curiously took the final gift from Connor and opened it and then his mouth dropped open in surprise as he saw what it was, "oh Connor," he gasped as he looked at the kit, "its beautiful, I love it thank you," and then he went over to give him a kiss.

Connor beamed, glad to see how much Cutter liked the gift.

"I saw it and had to get it for you. Will give you something to do when we head to the beach next time- do a little quick fossil hunting to pass some time."

He leaned in close and kissed Cutter and wrapped is arms around him and held him close.

"Happy Christmas Nick. Love you."

"Oh that will be a great way to get use out of this," Cutter smiled, "and we still need to go on that dig together," he added with a grin.

He wrapped his arms around Connor and leaned against him, "I love you too Connor, so very much, Happy Christmas,"

"Aye we will go on the dig and do so much more. Thank you for being here with me Nick."

Connor leaned in close ad wrapped his arms around his boyfriend and held him close. "First of many amazing Christmas' together. I cant wait to do it all over again."

Connor pulled back finally and smiled playfully. "How about we go see how those Payjamas look? Rex can open his present and enjoy his new feed toy while we go enjoy some time alone."

"Aye, the first of many amazing Christmas'," Cutter agreed happily, "I can't wait for next years'," he added with a smile.

"And I like the way you think," he added shyly, his cheeks going slightly red, "it will be a nice way to test those pyjamas out,"

Connor smiled as he broke the kiss and reached out to take Cutter's hand and slowly pull him towards the bedroom.

"Have fun Rex" he said as he grinned as Rex was already tearing a hole in the wrapping paper to get at his present.

"Happy Christmas Nick' he said again as he led them down the hallway, a broad grin, and a faint flush on his face as he did.
