MHA #16 - Wednesday Early Afternoon

Cutter had plans to head home later that evening and had a portal booked, Jenny had asked him if he could return to the ARC for a few days and help out and while he still wasn’t ready to deal with everything that had happened with Stephen and Helen, he figured a few days back couldn’t hurt.

He didn’t have much to pack, so he was mostly reviewing some of the more recent data that he had gotten from the ARC and writing out some reports, since he had not been doing any of the reports that Lester had asked for and he figured he should probably get at least one of them done before he headed back home.

It had been a bit since Connor had done more than exchange passing hellos to Cutter, so there he was, standing outside his door. On his shoulder, Rex chirped happily as if to say 'go on knock already!' So that is what Connor did and then they stood there and waited.

Cutter looked up from his half finished report at the sound of the knocking, grateful for the distraction and made his way over to the door and opened it, "hey Connor, Rex," he nodded with a small smile, "come on in," he stepped aside to let them through.

"Hey, thanks," Connor said with a grin as they walked in, Rex chirping happily as well. "Sorry if we're interrupting anything. Just wanted to stop in before ya head back to the team for the holidays."

Had Connor just assumed that was what Cutter was going to do? Maybe. The better chance was he had been chatting with the other Connor just the other day about a few things.

For a moment Cutter wondered if Connor was psychic, blinking back at him in confusion for a bit and then made a connection, “you’ve been talking to my Connor haven’t you?” he said with a grin, “you weren’t interrupting anything, trying to finish at least one of these reports for Lester, figured if I did at least one of them it would stop him asking every five minutes,”

Not that Cutter particularly cared on making Lester happy it stopped him from constantly annoying him though.

Connor gave a somewhat sheepish grin as they walked in. "Yeah, I have. He had been asking the other day if I wanted to visit during the break. Figured it might be a bit much for the team to wrap their heads around. And I also wanted to stick around here in case Michael was free. You can tell Lester it's my early holiday present to him." Ah yes, the gift of not having two Connor's running around the ARC- classic gift.

“I’m sure he’d appreciate that,” Cutter grinned as he tried to picture two Connor’s running around the ARC, “if you ever do want to come back for a visit, you’re more than welcome to, ” he told him, "I don't think they'd object to having additional help,"

"I'll keep that in mind, thanks. And speaking of visits I wanted to make sure you knew you were invited to a little holiday Haunikah party my co-worker Steven and his mate are having. Said I could invite any friends or whoever over so of course, wanted to make sure you got the invite too!"

Cutter nodded, a little surprised at the invitation , “thank you, I’m sure I can come round for a while,” he paused, tilted his head, “you know I don’t think I’ve met either Steven or Marc, or anyone on this floor other than you,” he admitted.

"Steven is my co-worker at the museum. Think it's Thursdays he works? Nice guy.... I was a bit surprised to get an invite but I guess not everyone is going away for the holidays."

"I think I'm mostly going to be here, I'm only really heading back over the break since Jenny asked and I do need to finalise some of the more sensitive elements of taking the class to visit the ARC," Cutter admitted, "mostly trying to convince Lester that they do not need to sign the Official Secrets Act before they go," he added dryly, "but I should stop by the museum on a Thursday when I get back," he considered, "it wouldn't ... hurt to meet more people," he allowed.

Connor shook his head with a small sigh. "Guess Lester is the same across all timelines and realities it seems. And Steven is good people, so would do ya good to get ta know him. And there's also Michael too, he's really interested in the portals such here on the island."

“He does love his rules and regulations,” Cutter sighed, since he wasn’t a fan of either and they had definitely clashed a lot over that, “ hopefully Jenny has been able to talk to him about it for me,”

He paused, “So it’s going well with you and Michael then?” he asked since it had felt a long time since they had properly talked, since he’d been a cat and then a child.

"Yeah, things are good. We have both been a bit busy lately but yeah..." Connor said with a big grin. "It's great having someone to hang out with that, ya know... gets me." Unlike how much of the team back home.

Cutter smiled softly at that, he couldn’t help but think of Claudia then, “it’s nice, isn’t it when you meet someone like that?”

Connor had an idea of who Cutter had in mind and he gave a small nod and smile. He never did remember ever knowing anyone named, Claudia. But that didn't change the fact that Cutter did and Connor could only imagine what it must be like to not have people believe you.

"Aye it is. Course, you have been there for me since the start of all this anomaly nonsense, and that's nothing to sneeze at either." Especially after a certain turn of events that Connor was likely never going to forget. Because really, how could he?

Cutter smiled remembering the first time that Connor had approached him and Stephen about the possibility of anomalies existing, “it’s definitely been an interesting journey that’s for sure, we’ve had some adventures haven’t we?”

"And hopefully a lot more to come." Conner had just caught himself from saying 'this time around,' with that bit. He knew eventually Cutter would bring it up and they would have to have that conversation. He also knew he would have to check in with second Connor and see how things went.

And then Connor realized he had gon quiet for too long and shook his head with a small laugh. "Surprised you and Stephen kept me around for as long as you did to be honest."

“I did think you were crazy at first,” Cutter admitted, noticing how quiet Connor seemed to be and wondering if he should say something, “then it turned out you were right about everything…including Helen’s disappearance,”
