"Oh wow," Cutter said as he looked around where the portal had let them out near their hotel, "I can't believe we're actually here," They had been planning this trip for so long and now they were in Johannesburg, it didn't seem real that they were here. It was a week later and Connor’s graduation had come and gone and after the photos and the general congratulations, the whole team had gone out to celebrate. Lester had made arrangements for a private room had one of the restaurants that he had liked to frequent and had set up a buffet style arrangement for them so they would be on their own. A couple more days in the hospital and they'd finally been given the all clear to head back to Fandom. It would still take a bit of time before they fully recovered but they were now right to return to Fandom and get everything set up before their house arrest began. They had to be fitted with their monitoring devices. Cutter was rather nervous as he waited with Connor in Lester's office, after this they would be saying goodbye to everyone and heading back to Connor's flat to get set up, "I can't believe we're going back to Fandom," he said softly. Cutter and Connor had been brought to James ... well now Christine's office by a couple of her soldiers and had been instructed to sit and wait. It felt like an eternity, Cutter's stomach was lurching and he couldn't stop trembling. He glanced nervously at Connor, how on earth were they going to get out of this one? He was also aching from the several beatings he had taken from Wilder and he wasn’t sure how much longer he had left in him before he did finally break. He reached over to take Connor's hand, he couldn't say anything at first but he wanted Connor to know that he was there and as long as they were together then surely everything would be okay? Sarah had gotten up early and made breakfast for the team, once breakfast was over she waited in the living room for Connor so that they could begin exploring the safehouse properly and see what else was hidden away that might be useful if they needed to extend their stay there another week or so, "I thought starting here in the living room might be the best place to start, what do you think?" It had been two days since he and Becker had been rescued, had ended up at the safehouse and the team had found out exactly what had been done to them while they'd been prisoners of Christine and Wilder. The first day they'd mostly slept but now Danny was awake and really bored. He was also in a lot of pain but he was trying to ignore that. "Hey Becker, you awake?" he looked down the other end of the bed where Becker was resting. Cutter and Connor had gone back to the ARC to celebrate their birthdays after being delayed over the weekend and now they were waiting in the break room of the ARC since that was one of the few places they were allowed to wait as they waited for the team, they had been talking to Lester about revelations about what had happened to Cutter in Connor's timeline and trying to come up with some solutions. Meanwhile Danny was finishing up his shift at the ARC, he had been expecting an attack from Christine, she had been too quiet lately and he had been on edge that she was going to try something. Lester was not having a good couple of days - between Cutter nearly freezing to death in a lab and then Connor getting infected and nearly freezing in another lab … and Connor was still asleep and in quarantine and Cutter had refused to leave his side. Now he had the hard task of choosing a new team leader … since his call with the Minister and finding out that Christine intended to put in one of her own men to replace Cutter … he had to act fast, he had managed to delay Christine coming to the ARC til tomorrow but that didn’t give him a lot of time. This was going to be messy and he hated that he had to remove Cutter but the Minister was very specific about that and if he still wanted the team to be his and not Christine’s … Cutter was going to lose the leadership and his security clearance to the ARC. Now he had to choose someone to replace Cutter … he had asked Jenny and she had already said no, now his next choice was Becker and he had asked for him to stop by his office. Now that Cutter had gotten some much needed rest, he was feeling a lot more alert and he wasn't cold anymore. It took a bit for him to reorientate himself but eventually he felt up to leaving the bedroom and see what was happening. As he put his jacket on and began to wander the hallway, he wondered where everyone was, there didn't seem to be anyone about. After finishing class that morning, Cutter and Connor made the trip to back to the ARC to do some more research on the anomaly prediction model and to help out with the team, especially since the press was no longer interested in them and they were able to freely move around. At the moment they were in the break room, they had already been working on the model for a few hours and Cutter decided they should really have a break, as tempting as it was to keep working since they were making really good progress with the research thanks to Sarah’s help. “I can’t believe just how much work we’ve completed on the anomaly prediction model,” Cutter remarked as he looked up from the magazine he was reading, it was one of the ones that Becker had brought him in the early days of their lockdown when they had been in the break room and they hadn’t been in the most … receptive of moods.
