MHA #16 - Sunday Lunchtime

By the time he and Connor made it back to fandom, it was nearly lunchtime and he and Connor were tired after everything that had happened. Cutter didn’t remember the last time they had actually eaten with everything that had been going on and cleaning out his office, so he decided to put everything that they had managed to grab between the two of them and order lunch.

Cutter decided to order Chinese food and when it had arrived he spread everything out on the table.

“I hope this okay, I went with a little bit of everything, I know we haven’t had much to eat with everything that’s happened,” he said softly.

Cutter nodded with a small smile as he got out a couple of plates and cutlery for them, "that sounds good, after the last few days I think we really need this," he looked at the spread of Chinese food on the table, "I can't even remember the last thing we ate," he admitted.

Connor was back in a few minutes with some drinks for both of them and sat down at the table. "Same. I... I know its been a couple days really so, yes I think this is much needed. And it is good to be back here, back home in Fandom. I think we both need this down time to just be here, together, and relax some." Though Connor wasn't sure if he would be able to really relax for a while after everything as he looked down at his arm and the faint lingering bruising that lingered on his hand and arm.

Cutter nodded, following Connor's gaze as he did, "I'm sorry about what happened," he said softly, "if I knew she wouldn't try and take it out on the team, I wouldn't go back ... I ..." he stared down at the plate of food he had just gotten, "I think the most we're going to be able to hold off is a couple of weeks," he said apologetically.

"Not your fault Nick. There's only so much any of us are going to be able to do against Christine" Connor said as he dished out some of the food onto his plate. "Shes not giving us a lot of options."

"I'm just sorry you got caught up in all of this," Cutter said glumly as he took a bite out of his curried chicken, "and now we've both lost our security clearances, we won't be able to help the ARC as much as we could,"

"I know... it really does seem like she's won. I.. I know we have to keep fighting. I know Lester and the others are still going to try and stand up to her but...." Connor looked down at his plate and then took a drink of the soda he had there. "I.. I think I am ready to just sit back for a bit. I hate how its happened but... maybe we should use this time, for ourselves a little?"

Cutter nodded, "I think that's probably a good idea, I ... I know there was talk about going back to the ARC for our birthdays but that's not for a couple more weeks, I think taking it easy sounds good, we can just focus on teaching class and I was thinking of starting to set up the anomaly prediction model in the flat as well," he had a look around at the small space, "I think it should be big enough to get the model up and running here in Fandom,"

Connor looked around and nodded. "I think there's room enough, especially if we move the furniture around a little and clear out the middle area as much as we can." Connor took a few bites as he debated bringing up the other idea he had. "We can always move you over to my flat. I mean, you are half moved in as it is" he said with a small smile. "We could have it so your flat is dedicated to the Anomaly Model, and you... could stay over at my place. If... if you wanted to that is."

And for the first time since everything had happened with losing their security clearances, Cutter smiled warmly at that, "I would really like that," he said, "I mean if you're sure you're fine with me moving over that is," he added, his cheeks going slightly red, "I ... that would be really ... um nice," and there was the nice word again.

"I wouldn't have offered if I minded" he said with a grin of his own, his cheeks also flushing a little. "Not like it would take a lot to get you moved over and get things set up here with the anomaly detection model. Even if... if you spend most of your time over here working, which I... I hope you don't " Connor said shyly, "But if you do, you'll at least have someplace comfortable to sleep and take a break now and then."

"That's true, I don't think I have much left here in the flat, most of it is already over at your place," Cutter smiled, "I was able to get most of the blue prints for the anomaly prediction model, I should be able to set everything up here and call Sarah as I need to for help with the mythological side," and he smiled shyly back at Connor, "and I'll do my best to not get caught up in my work and actually try and sleep and have a break,"

Cutter knew it was unlikely but he was trying.

"As long as you let me still help now and then and let me hang out with ya here and keep ya company I think we'll be fine" Connor grinned as he ate some more of the Mongolia Shrimp on his plate. "I can at least bring over lunches and dinners if needed and make sure you eat and keep you company."

"It sounds like a plan," Cutter grinned as he ate one of the spring rolls, "I definitely won't say no to help or company," he smiled shyly at Connor.

"Good, consider it payment for letting ya crash at my place" he said with a teasing wink. "I know Rex will be glad to have ya staying over. He really does miss ya when you don't come over."

Cutter grinned at that, "I miss Rex too, it will be nice to be able to spend time with both you and Rex," he said as he took another bite of delicious food, "and have a bit of a break from everything that's been going on," he smiled.

"Aye. I know we've checked in with Becker and let him know we're safe and settled" Connor said after taking a drink of his soda. "I think maybe we can just disconnect for a few days. Lester can call us if they need us but I think we could do with a few days, no calls, no check ins, no checking the news or anything. Just you, and me, relaxing for a change."

Cutter smiled warmly at that, "I do like the sound of that, I think after class tomorrow, you and I can just spend time together and not do any kind of work for a few days, I think we both deserve it after everything that has happened," he said softly.

"Sounds good to me! Cant think of a better way to unwind for a bit. Maybe we can watch some movies or catch up on those terrible reality shows you like so much?"

Cutter's eyes lit up at that, "oh I haven't watched any of meta for Big Brother in ages, I haven't watched any of the newer season at all," he grinned, "I love that idea of just hanging out and watching reality tv and movies,"

"Sounds good to me. I was kinda starting to look forward to watching the next season to be honest" Connor said with a smirk. "Can catch up and just enjoy the time together."

Cutter smiled warmly, "sounds like the perfect way to spend a few days," he said, enjoying being able to spend this time with Connor after everything that had happened and making plans for their future, "I'm glad that we're able to do this,"

"It's nice to be able to spend time with each other and figure things out. We will make plans, see what happens, and just be together, doing boring Fandom stuff and being teachers and scientists outside the ARC work." Connor reached out and took Cutter's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "It will be nice to just be together for a change."

Cutter smiled warmly at that, returning the gentle hand squeeze as he gazed fondly at Connor, "aye that it will be, it will be nice to be able to do something that's ... well almost normal for a change, well as normal as it can be for Fandom and the ARC,"

"Then I think that sounds like the best non-plans I have heard for a while" Connro grinned. "And I think this is the best start to those plans there could be!"

Cutter smiled fondly at Connor, "aye, Chinese food, getting to spend time with each others company and spending a few days of not doing anything," he said, "I think this is definitely a very good start,"

Connor smiled and then he leaned over and kissed Cutter softly. "I think we've officially started a very nice mini vacation" he said, blushing sightly as he smiled. "I love you Nick" he whispered as he kissed him again.

"I love you too Connor, so very much," Cutter very happily leaned into that kiss, "I'm looking forward to spending our mini vacation together," his own cheeks started going rather red as well.
